  • The music is so beautiful!

  • Are these words of Virginia Clemm written down somewhere? I can't catch all the words from the singing. The video is very poignant, and made me cry. i feel so sorry she died at only 24 and that Poe had such a sad ending.

  • I agree to the fact that within his work was much mystery, but to call it horrifing is a far cry from anything he ever wrote. His work was beautiful, not because it was dark but because his soul was in his work and out of this troubled soul was left to the world a gift of sheer beauty. There is a brilliant light that surrounds him and his work, words that will forever echo into eternity. Brighter than our very sun than will one day shine no longer.

  • Wasn't he always haunted by the Raven? And it's also on his tombstone? Oh, the irony.

  • a truely great author America's firstgreat author. unforetunately, there is a sinister, morbid, 'air of mystery' attached to his name that does not work to his advantage.

  • A real Master.

  • i love this song, and i love poes story, so sad, so creepy so wonderful :)

  • he was genius before his time his wife died young and so did he its odd that he would fall in love with his cousin and then marry her

  • A real artist one one who doesn't look at themselves to be an artist. Look at most of the artist back then and u will see that most died destitute, today they sip champagne cocktails on the beach.

  • @PlanTonto

It is quite disgusting. But, a lot of the enduring art that makes a difference to certain human beings are always the ones that come from a genuine place. The "art" made or written for a quick buck becomes a fad and little more. I have faith that the crap is temporary, but the treasure(like Poe), is forever.

  • Poe was a "mad genius" I would've loved to sat down and chatted with!! Just once!

  • Poe wasn't mad, he was in pain. His life could never get right. He was just amazing, though, everybody can agree on that.

  • @EllahMental

    Amen to that. <3

  • wouldn't all poe fans want that

  • great video ,i wish it could have gone on and on

  • Thank you! Very, very good melody you made here.

  • Thanks for showing intrest in my great great great great uncle. It means alot! =]

  • His life was so miserable...his drinking habits destroyed his health after Annabel passed...soon after he died at an age of 44?

  • His wife's name was Virginia not Annabel some believe she was the inspiration behind the poem

  • @Cancinico HEy I"M

  • @Cancinico Dear friends,I am a Chinese who`s learning literature in a university.I love Poe because his stories were so great. Then I read his poems and feel he was really a genius.

  • I want to visit Edgars grave and put roses there. I love his poems.

  • Poe was a great man and a genius

    Happy 200th birthday

    Edgar Allan Poe

    May you rest in peace

  • very nice lyrics!

  • Poe was a genius. The Raven is still one of the best pieces of literature I've ever written. And it wasn't uncommon for men to marry their cousins or girls who were teenagers back in the mid 1800's. It was more of a southern thing but I'm sure it happened in the north as well.

  • Life expectancy was alot shorter back then, so to be married by the age of 12 or 13 was like being married in our 20's now.. So it was perfectly natural and no it's not just in the south either..

  • It's definitely a little young, even for the 19th century. It would have been more respectable to wait until she was 15. Times change.

  • Poe was kwl , the greats die young

  • does anybody know if this is really true?

    tis awsome tho

got to love the crazy fuckers lol

  • ? Poe wasn't crazy.

  • so awsome i listend to it twice

  • Poe said himself there was NOTHING more ARTISTIC and BEAUTIFUL than the death of a young beautiful woman.

  • i love this song she sings beautifly and the piano is awsome! :D

  • EAP was a very mysterious man...and he still made some very creepy and horrifing stories

  • You'll find a photograph of Virginia's actual manuscript in the Wikipedia piece on her.

Why dispute dates so easy to document?Virginia Eliza Clem born 8/22/1822. Married 5/13/1836: age 13yrs,8mos,21 days.

1st signs of TB mid-Jan,1842: age 19y,7m suffered the TB for 5yrs (to the month).

    Died 1/30/1847: age 24y, 5m, 8d.

    Marriage to E A Poe for 10y, 8m, 17d.

Thats easy enough. Can anyone steer me toward documentation that Poe broad jumped over 22 ft while at the U of Virginia?

  • not crazy , he was weird and bazzar and eccentric

  • Actually alchohol was the main thing Poe was addicted to, The opium addiction was possibly concocted by Rufus Griswold Poe's editor who set out to destroy Poe's reputation after his death, As for how he came up with his story ideas well calling Poe just a 'crazy man' really doesn't cover it at all, Poe's wife suffered and died from consumption it's not hard to see consumption as a theme in stories involving blood and death as a theme 'The Masque Of The Red Death' et

'The Facts In The Case Of

  • The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar

The Fall of The House Of Usher

and others, All of those stories cover something that Poe would have been obsessed with, The death of his wife Virginia,

Apart from that Poe was a pretty damned imaginative writer pure and simple not to mention even a literary critic.

  • I've read lots of things concerning Poe, even an article published in a professional paper for doctors. And, I really really don't think alchool was his problem. If you remember, when he was at Wastpoint, he was drunk with only one glass of red wine. It seems to me that he was not used to drink.

  • she was not 24 when she died. she was 15, poe married her at 13. she died 2 years later of TB.

  • Um, no, he DID marry her when she was 13, and he was 27 I believe, and she did in fact die at 24.

  • does anyone have the lyrics? please i really wantthem

  • Go to Wikipedia, look up Virginia Clemm, scroll down.

    You're welcome.

  • this just great, this is real music

  • does anybody knows where i can find this song???i need it in mp3 format..plsss

  • I have always loved the sensitive side of Poe. Virginia's poem reflects that side. This music too is so refreshing compared with boring Slipknotty pseudo-gothlette pastiches on offer... Good luck with your Poe settings...

  • err..i mean well not good, apparently I can't use grammer today.

  • The song, when written down, spells out 'Edgar Allan Poe', as the first letter in each line. *is a die-heart Poe fan* anyway, this is sung very good.

  • am so greatful to stumble upon this channel to discover this treasure you posted here.thank you.

  • Ever with thee I wish to roam Dearest my life is thine. Give me a cottage for my home And a rich old cypress vine, Removed from the world with its sin and care And the tattling of many tongues. Love alone shall guide us when we are there Love shall heal my weakened lungs; And Oh, the tranquil hours we'll spend, Never wishing that others may see! Perfect ease we'll enjoy, without thinking to lend Ourselves to the world and its glee Ever peaceful and blissful we'll be. Feb 14 1846
  • This is a beautiful and moving song - and the singer has a gorgeous voice. I can't wait to hear more.

  • My favorite poet :) Loved his work since the first time I learned about him.

  • Him? I agree that Edgar Allan Poe is one of the best poets, not only in the 19th century, but up to date as well. However, isn't this a song written by Virgina? Whom is Edgar Allan Poe's wife/cousin?

  • great!

  • edgar is beautiful

  • wow

  • Hell yeah. I couldn't agree with the other's comments more. Long Live Poe.

  • Fantastic music and voice! This show will bring out the inner reaches of Poe and the composers/performers. I look forward to the rest of the show, as they say, break it!

  • The music is beautiful. I can not wait to eventually hear the entire score. The show is sure to be amazing. Keep up the good work.
