I got this game at 9 I think, I never really tried... once I gave it a chance, I became the rpg addict I am today :3 never finished the game, but I have a special place in my heart for it
If you ask me the only thing that's keeping this series and the Sadow Tower series from being anywhere near games like Oblivion are those abyssmal and sloooooow responding controls.
The games themselves are ok (even though not without issues) but the controls just kill it, half the times i found myself wrestling more with the controller than with the actual enemies when in an tight spot.
idk which came first kings field or elder scrolls. but they both play almost the same... except i only heard of the ps1 king's field and i was blown away from so much stuff developers can cram into one little simple cd for playstation. but now i think elder scrolls is better. far more better.
@carniusrogue Both series started in 1994. I agree, the recent Elder Scrolls games have been incredible. But I still enjoy King's Field's focus on isolation and loneliness.

I love Elder Scrolls, but it's lacking some major things King's Field had. The destruction magic in all King's Field games blows the Elder Scrolls boring magic away. And Kings Field doesn't have an "easy" mode you can put it on which makes it more challenging.
King's Field 4 makes me nauseous. I just played it for the first time and felt like dying. I think it's because of how the screen gets blurry when panning the view, and also the occasional slow-downs.
How many Kings Field games are there? I've solved the first 3. Totally love the game! I'm getting a PS3 just so I can play what looks like more versions of it.
is it just me or the main character swings that sword so slowly that it seems like he's in slo-mo ? when you play it you feel like petting monsters not damaging them
I love all parts,and i finish them all,you really need balls 2play this game,it's a bit slow,but realy nice with many many secrets locations and HUGE maps:P
i have played all of them and love them all...they are all classics, if it wasnt for FF7 coming out at around the same time as king's field in the US then it would have been alot more popular and less underrated. i truly enjoy the music and the dark eerie atmosphere of this game its unlike no other.

Oblivion is more of a "Here's a world, here's how everything works, have fun" kind of game, where as King's Field is more of a "Are you really sure you want to turn that corner? You can hear what's behind it. You know it can kill you." kind of game.
I'm just now playing Kings Field for the first time and yeah it's a lot harder than any elder scrolls game. At least at the beginning of Morrowind and Oblivion they give you some hints about what to do. You just boot this up and there you are...figure it out. I died about 100 times in the first five minutes lol.
Actually, many people liked it. The game requires patience, observation, and attention. . .things the average gamer (I'm presuming this is you) simply doesn't possess.
@Throatjab I liked it too.....then I got to the 6th grade and finally got fed up with how slow and awkward the physics system was. You shouldn't "presume" that the "average gamer" has the patience to enjoy watching paint dry, because that's how enjoyable these games are. Incredible patience for incredibly boring things doesn't interest every RGR-er. I tried really hard to get into them, but.....not everyone who enjoys gaming also enjoys totally wasting time.
