I prefer the regular tidy plates tanking plates, bigger and simpler to use in my opinion plus threat plates are very colourblind unfriendly.

Ive been using threat plates lately... and it's perfect for my needs. Our MT really really appreciates the humoungous (spelling?) name plates this addon gives.

On a somewhat related note... what's the addon that the mage uses to display Missile Barrage (inlcuding the blue circle around it)? I have a feeling im asking a really dumb question here =p

@tearsofblood317 Power Auras, Missile Barrage comes up when it procs and the blue circle shows me when I have Icy Veins and Arcane Power up. Hope that helps :)

@WestwoodTheOaf Unfortunately this isn't allowed by Blizzard anymore, so you will only be able to see your Target (and I think your Focus) casting.

@WarcraftAzraman I'm pretty sure the class emblem only shows up in PvP. There may be a setting in there that allows it during PvE but I'm not for sure.

@TheDanwh Learn to play noob...running through the cave puts me out of range of Swipe, which then doesn't do damage, which doesn't give me threat, and walking backwards means I dodge the entire time.

@plutonious9 Your healers heart you for that little bit. So many tanks just haul ass and body pull those mobs, which is fine if they have an unspeakably large health pool, but if they don't the healer is pissing themselves hoping they can save the tank with a huge heal when they get to the platform after the tank drops their AoE threat bomb. Any heals before then just strip the mobs off the tank and on to the healer. Yay for piss-poor threat management! Slow and sure any day of the week.

@Ledbetterus Because TidyPlates uses the Blizzard API for the nameplates, it's not possible to see what monsters are casting, aside from your target. You might try Aloft if you're looking for that functionality (and I'm not even sure Aloft has it but I think it does).

where's the explanation of the addon? what do the colors do? what does it look like when you get agro or lose agro? what am i looking at? if i have to read the comments to find out how to properly use the addon then the video fails

@mlamma If you had to 'read the comments", then you should probably look into doing something about that ADD of yours.

It clearly said in the video that green = good, yellow = caution, red = bad. Obviously if you can decipher this cryptic code, then red would mean you've lost aggro. Green would be when you have solid aggro.

Also, the intro wasn't long at all, and it's more than "look at me". People work hard on videos like this, and they do deserve recognition..

type /tptp, go to threat options, and it should be under dualspec options. Make sure your primary (tank/dps) and secondary (tank/dps) options correspond to your actual specs. (For instance, if ret DPS as a pally is your first spec, make your primary DPS; If prot is your secondary spec as a pally, make your secondary option marked as "tank".) I had the same problem too until I tried this out :)

I especially want something that STABS ME IN THE FACE when I've got Aspect of the Viper on and my frickin mana bar is full. I have a hard time keeping track of everything happening onscreen, so I tend to forget to check. Also wanna set up something for Lock and Load. =) -- Thanks for the vid!

@Anjalena I had the same problem - try Viper Notify. It writes a notification to your screen and plays a sound when you're in Viper and your mana bar is about 90% full, but you can probably customize that to whatever threshold you like. I've never missed the sound when it goes off - it's quite distinctive. :)

I like this video, it's very nice and clear, but I'm a little confused on what the bar looks like after you lose aggro. Does the whole bar turn green? I notice that it can be red with a green outline though, after awhile, like it was on Ick.

The red part of the bar just shows health, the outline is the aggro status. If he was a neutral monster, the health bar would have been yellow.

Really appreciate the quality and information provided in this video. My only concern would be when there is more than one tank on adds and that big red bar would overshadow a lot of what i'm looking at. BUT it's definately better than the crap nameplates Blizzard offers for tanks.

It can be a bit hard to see what you're tanking in a raid situation, but if you scale down the plates a bit, to like 80% for green, 100-110% for red, it should help a bit.

I used this in the early alpha, but i didn't like it very much. So up until now, i've used caelNameplates since it was small and nice. But now that i've seen this, i went back to the page and i was surprised how much better it had become :) (I still like do fix mods for my own taste, but it's all good)

Great video. I really like the addon, except it seems to have only two states: Green (you're fine) and Red (you're basically dead already). I play a Mage. I already use Cleanplates.

Usually you don't see the yellow state because you skip over the threshold too quicky.

I'm going to try out Clean Plates soon just to see if I like them better on my mage, though for a tank I think Threat Plates is where it's at.
