The problem with the Keynesian view of increasing government spending to lower unemployment in the short run, is that in the long run it increase inflation. Higher inflation in the long run, cause greater unemployment, as people can not buy the same amount of goods with the same amount of money. So while in the short run increasing government spending can be good for unemployment, in the long term it most likely cause higher unemployment.

If the debt ceiling is raised, it continues the cycle of borrowing to spend (new debt would cover the deficit on current programs as well as interest on existing debt) while not raising it would cause the US to default, sending the US (and likely the world) into a deeper recession. Unfortunately, neither party wants to tackle the underlying problem of years of governmentt spending beyond its means.
You have a good point there. Eisenhower raised taxes on the wealthy back in the day because of the war. The U.S. has 2 wars going on, makes sense to hike up the tax on the rich at least for a temporary period until things settle down in the Economy.

If you do *well* in school, you may get into the college of your choice and you may be able to attend.
