Deeply moving lyrics. Rafi's booming voice magnificently amplifies the poignancy and grief expressed by Bahadurshah Zafar. Unforgettable!
Just one observation though. It is quite unlikely that Zafar would have been reciting these soulful, grief-stricken words in open court. More likely, it would have been done in the solitude of his private chambers with only his immediate family members present at most. Just a thought..

of course he died in Rangoon , Burma in exile at the age of 87

@54shanu Zafar was hanged? I don't think he was, he died in exile in his late 80's I believe.
