I'm doing this song with my quartet for our literary competition this March. I'm constantly listening to this recording. AMAZING blend. I get goose bumps still... Great job, guys!
OH MY GOSH!!! me and my choir are doing this and it is amazing I love this song and it is weird for me to like the songs that we are doing in choir cause my choir director is kind of horrible at picking good songs. But this was definitely a good song. :).... huh... My director has been picking a lot of good songs lately... maybe her doctor prescribed her marijuana for the horrible disease called stickupyourbutt which is a common disease in teachers... if you know what I'm saying... :)
One of the best renditions I have heard. I love the harmonies and I love your voices and you blend very well together. Keep up the good work. A Capella music is GORGEOUS!!!! especially for folk songs.
@timaeus22222 In this song it is very easy to do that, my high shcool choir sang this song for all-state and a few of the basses, i included had a little problem with it until the night of the performance.
Good job... Pretty good intonation and alright dynamics.... but the thing that struck me the most was it's too Americanized. This song needs to be in a Scottish accent, hands down.
Very beautiful. It's a different version/arrange as the first time I heard this song was with The King's Singers. Amazing! Congratulations to this group
In response to the person who said this version sounded too 'inspirational' and not solemn enough, I think you should go listen to Benny goodman's version of this with jazz singer Martha Tilton! I do agree that they could have taken the tempo slightly slower to better convey that they understood what they were singing, but I think their handling of this song was very good and the emotion was very poignant. They seemed very earnest and emotionally present especially the 2nd soloist, which was v
u guys are beautiful singers, so nothing against you personally, i just don't like this version of the song. it sounds like a happy song and it actually sounded inspirational, but the actual song is the exact opposite.
@MrUnit666 during the 1745 Rebellion a soldier on his way back to Scotland during the 1745-6 retreat from England wrote this song. The "low road" is a reference to the Celtic belief that if someone died away from his homeland then the fairies would provide a route of this name for his soul to return home.
THANK YOU for this. Loch Lomond is one of my favorite Irish songs and this version is so beautiful and incredibly moving. You guy are very talented and you do great justice to this beautiful arrangement. Thank you, again.
@sophieangeline1 ARGH! sorry, just a bit cringy that Scots on the whole are so patriotic, and you just called their prize export Irish! haha Sorry, just wanted to say that the highlands are in Scotland and there is a strong bagpipe tradition there as well as singing. :)
I was a high school member in the ISU honor choir that got to view this live. I've never felt so taken away by music before this very performance of this song. I was a junior and I made it again this year! I hope they perform again!
I did this in all-state choir last year & it sounded terrific...but I think it truly sounds better w/ an all men's choir like yours! I was just blown away by this! :) -Katie
Good jobs, guys. Really. Only thing I would say would have been to put more accent into it. "Loch" is not prmnounced, "Lock" but "Lochhhh", like you are, excuse me, hocking something up from your throat. Like Hebrew or Yiddish or even German. Otherwise, beautifully done.
This is my favorite version of this song. You guys are amazing :)

They don't seem to reach the i in dai quickly enough, so it sounds like "DIE, DIE! *stabstabstab*" =D
And this is essentially the version I sing every year, but it's just some guys singing the girl's part in a good octave.

Hearing "Take", "Highland", ect with western accents makes me cringe.
Still a very good job, musically speaking.

the ending was weird.
