The audio is kind of bad but this is one of my favorite songs. It remindes me of how some things happen so fast and we don't thing about it until it is long after that happened. Thank you for posting this.
Heard the tune at a lovely Klezmer concert in Vienna today with Shmuel Barzilai (the clarinetist played it). It reminded me I had once accompanied it on the piano and I had to go find it here :-)
The Jewish people survive during ages because their Torah thought them to treat their family life according to sacred rules (sexual relationship between husand and wife is forbidden during menstruation period, this strengthens the attraction between the pair and enables the connection between them to be more stable. Stability unites the family, ties the childern to their parents home with bonds of love and enables continuity through ages/ See continuation
Continuation: This happens first of all because the basic rule of Jewish Torah " Love your friend as you loves yourself"(Leviticus 19:18). This rite has many ramifications. For example : man is ordered to love his wife as he loves himself but to respect her more than he respects himself. In order to maintain true Jewish lufe between man and woman one has to learn how to do so. . Leviticus 19:18 between people ,not only within family is a complicated lesson for all life.
Second continuation: Therefore one should not maintain free relationship between man and woman in order not to Be a bad examPle for others. As you know it is eaSY TO TEACH PEOPLE DIRECTLY AND EVEN INDIRECTLY HOW TO DESTROY RELATIONSHIPS THAT NEED LONG LIFE STUDY...
@angryliberal1984 THIS EXPLAINS WHY tHE RABBI & ALL THE PEOPLE ARE VERY SERIOUS . THEY UNDERSTAND THAT JEWISH WEDDING NEED HEAVEN`S HELP. WEDDING MEANS OBLIGATIONS FULL OF DELIGHT BUT THINKING ONLY ABOUT PLEASURE WITHOUT CONNECTING IT TO OBLIGATIONS IS SOMETHING OPPOSITE TO TORAH LAWS.THE TRUE TORAH LIFE MAKES PEOPLE BE GLAD IN A TRUE WAY.
@batchava I see now. Yes, of course, the family is central to any culture's survival. Jews are a small percentage of the world. They need strong families.
But it is not only the need to survive. The main point is to survive in an holy way, In order to do so one must study the meanung of Leviticus 19:18 through Talmud etc...For example' the breaking of the glass in the wedding in order to remember Jerusalem derives from the perception that even in the most exiciting moment in life , one should not forget the public distress he is belonging to
