I hated this song for decades, it reminded me of try hard hippies from Tasmania- They may be great in small doses, but...I was moderately surprised, this is a great performance.
i remember when i was young,moruya town hall,1981,grabbed a snatch & held it,awsome concert,thanks tex,for the blues u brought to town,great memories.
I was at this gig too, both days. At the time, I wasn't as interested in the 'old hippy stuff' like Chain, being at that time more into the New Wave groups who were mostly on the first day. It was only later that I've come to appreciate how great some of the early 70s Aussie bands were.
So in retrospect, I'm glad to able to say, 'yeah, I was there, I saw this'.
I went to this Concert but didn't stay to see Chain as i think they were on the second day, biggest regret not having stayed to see them. They are the best ever Aussie Blues Band.
Matt is our Aussie Blues man, Original and crowd pumping like Michael Huchinson of INXS fame we will rock you and leave your girlfriends G spot alive and well.
@spector1991 Fck you spector muttering words like that about our Matt he would still fck the arse off your girl and let you cope with your sexual identity.
@the bluesmark also seen Chain doing a gig @the Mercury Lounge (What a fucking Hole) and was there to see and hear Billy Thorpe at the end for the all on stage jam actually call Phil manning a fucking Arse hole as he just blew Billy right off the stage Phillis the man what a great guitarist this guys is , totally inspiring
Hell yeah !!! Seen them at the Shents a few times. In later years, Matt had John Meyer on guitar who is an amazing player but just seem right like Phil Manning.
just as a matter of being proud of australian music chain, plus madder lake, spectrum, blackfeather and jim keays masters apprentices will be at the palms at the crown casino in melbourne on the 13th of March 2010
I woke up this morning and I looked around I said to my self what have i found...whats the name of that song again? No Milk had been delivered and there was none on the breast's so even little children had to suffer with the rest..I remember the words Just not the song title
I've seen many a great concert and quite a few of them at the Bowl but this was one the best concerts I've ever been to. Free admission over two days and bands like Chain and Madder Lake killed them. The album is still on high rotation in my collection and when Taylor and the boys do this it pumps out of the house and shows all the little rap fuckers next door what real music is all about.
I grew up on this band from a very young age, I still have the original tape 'The Very Best Of Chain" sitting next to me as I type, then I had the privilege of meeting Barry Sullivan through one of my closest friends, his son Shannon, miss ya mate, say g'day to your mum for me.
Shannon...My great mate. I used to be your live-in babysitter with you and your Mum in Moorabin. You were only 5 and I took you to see ACDC. Wow! I still live in California. Write back, Heather
Yep, seen Buddy Guy live 3 times in Perth, first time was the Shents. End of the show the whole floor was covered in beer cans as it was too crowded to get to a bin.
There's barely any good quality, professional footage available on the guys. Get in touch with their drummer Barry (barry AT barryharvey DOT com). He may be able to help out.
Ah ....now this is what ya call music brings back some great memories.

Phil Mannings website lists all the latest gig information (Chain's gigs are listed below Phil's solo gigs on his Tour page).

The Mushroom Evolution Concert at The Sidney Myer Music Bowl - 1982. There were about ten songs filmed; this being one of them.
Vocals - Matt Taylor
Lead guitar - Phil Manning
Bass - Barry 'Big Goose' Sullivan
Drums - Barry 'Lil Goose' Harvey
Big Goose has since passed away and Dirk DuBois has played bass for them mostly since the late 80's.
