  • Utterly ridiculous! Complete waste of time.

  • a god huddig operator in sweden can change about one tie a minute

  • 2 minutes???????? took you guys almost 9

  • @hanratty450 They might can do it in two minutes, just not with that operator. He's slower than syrup in December flowing uphill frozen.

  • The problem you have is that the ties you "changed out" don't have any support under them. Wether your ties are good, or you do replace them, there's a way to lift the track, add rock, and shake the shit out of it to level. I've whached FEC in St.Augustine Fl. do it for years.

  • When we took one out- it usually fell to pieces (as they were that well "drilled_out" & thus thoroughly rotten) & almost always required "compacted" ballast to be DUG deeper to accomodate thicker "newer" ties- which were PRE_DRILLED ties (& yrs later when they needed redrilling- were then drilled either by handauger or proline hydraulic borer- "in_situ"- instead of pharkin around- swapping them "end for end" like this- just to get dogspikes facing the same way- as that is utter pharkin nonsense)

  • Re Ur silly {quote} [quote] our system is actually more efficient than a production tie gang at far less money or capital expenditure. [unquote] ?

U DID NOT CHANGE THE TIE

All U did was swap "end for end" because U were too "lazy" to drill some holes in the "opposite" diagonals.?

That is NOT changing ties- U just USED THE SAME ONE (by swapping it with itself).

I spent 10yrs in the NZR in the 70's & NO SLEEPER was removed just to put it BACK_IN (simply to redog dogholes on opposite diagonals)

  • i work on the railway in the uk and we could have changed 4 by hand by the time that changed 1 waste of money or what

  • That is a great piece of machinery!

  • He needs to put some rev,s on that machine

  • I want one of those machines, I could change even the worst neighborhood, that thing carries a "BIG STICK". Rofl....XD. Thanks for sharing the vid.

  • At this rate, to replace a mile of ties would take about 200 years!!!!!!

  • maybe you guys should consider a better operator?

  • Not a bad machine, it can be used on the R.R. when you can't get the equipment needed to do a big job. I must disagreee on your two man operation Really how many ties can a two men do? You can never compare to a Production tie gang .

We have one on our line i like it on when we do Switch ties, but lot of prep work to get going........

  • Judging by the rust on the rail head I'd say this line had been 'mothballed' for months, if not years

  • I hope this was this guys first time

  • Any landscape company should be able to sell you ties

  • I need a bunch of railroad ties for my underground bunker root cellar thing, where can i find railroad ties?

  • Hopefully you are gonna run a ballast cleaner through there too or maybe (gasp!) dump some new balast and tamp it down nice...

  • what a slow process, must be that stink digger or stink operator. poo

  • Check out "Huddig slipersbyte" instead... This takes way too long.

  • does this machine have different attachments?

if so, what else does it do?

  • sure isnt a production machine that's for sure.

  • One man can replace a tie in 2 minutes, considering how many machines and men are on a production tie gang, our system is actually more efficient than a production tie gang at far less money or capital expenditure.

  • @MitchellRailGear

I don't see one man, I see two, and the whole job isn't shown. You have to pull the spikes, remove the tie plates, replace the tie, replace the tie plates, and replace the spikes. This takes more than 2 minutes and one man. It looks to me like this machine could work faster if the operator had more experience, but even then, it seems awkward and slow compared to other machines. But if the price is right, I suppose it could be useful for some lesser used roads.

  • @ccoraxfan Exactly. On our shortline in NH we used to use a backhoe with a small bucket to remove the ties, and one other guy. That was slower than this. I can only see this machine cutting down on the insertion point where when we used the backhoe a man had to preposition the new tie if the hoe operator was not pro enough. We got two Jackson tie inserters last year, and man can you move removing and insterting new ties with those. One man in a 3 stroke inserter goes way faster than this machine

  • Are you guys tring to restore that abandoned track or somthing?

  • Looks like a promo for their product to me.

  • excelent equipent.

I LOVE YOU RAILWAYS AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE
