As a critic (no favoritism), the movie is terrible. As a fan, however, it was OK. Could have been better if there was a little bit more background was given on Anubis besides he tried to destroy the world, but the Pharaoh stopped him.

Dude I remember back in '04 when I saw this movie I was in the 6th grade, opening day, first showing My dad came with me and they gave him a card too but he was like "fuck this stupid card you can have it" I got the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon and Sorcerer (spell check?) Of Dark Magic. About a year ago I was able to sell both cards to some nerd for $500 because they're 'ultra rare' (I looked it up they go for like $5 on the internet, that idiot)

I loved the movie , I was 9 when I went to see it, ever kid that went including me brought their dueldisk and their deks we would duel until the movie started:D. This is way yugioh should be, the original rocks with the duel disks and shadow games , but I hate gx, and WTF is up with the fucking 5D and syncro cards, this is making the game look bad

After the Battle City Finals, before the Doom (Orichalcos) Saga. Anubis was pretty cool, albiet short lived. He did feel a little shoe-horned in though, since Zork was supposedly the "ultimate bad" from 5000 years ago. Still, a nice little self-contained arc.

Nah, 5000 years ago he fought the Pharaoh and lost very quickly (it's implied the Pharaoh pulled some sort of sneek one-turn-kill). Being a smart villain, Anubis decided that he'd jump into the Millenium Puzzle instead of returning to the Underworld. When Yugi assembled the Puzzle 5000 years later, Anubis began to wake up as well. First order of business, a re-match at the card/shadow game :P
