Great way to re-use and re-purpose materials. I am building one this year and I have a nice stack of collected materials to do it with. I most certainly got some great ideas from your plan. P.S. Nice short film as well!
Only thing I woulda done differently is spray the wood with some bleach water to kill any possible mold. Some that can be deadly or cause respiratory problems.

I'm very new to woodworking. But if you nail something in at a 45 degree angle, wouldn't it be a little unstable? Also, I loved this video, it shows a lot of insight into woodworking.
very good job ........ i just can't say enough about the job and the way you presented it !!!! "the job took centerplace" Thank You for a outstanding project !!!
the kids & I really enjoyed watching you build this coop/run for the chickens - I'd like to think we will have a go in the future!! :) great carpentry skills....
Great video. I too do a lot of this type of thing, find used materials, clean it and build stuff from it. Too much good things just tossed out but if you have a nose for it you can find lots of things !! Good Job,,,,
If you click under the video for ( show more ) you can see all listed info from this construct time and material . This house i keep 12 hens to sleep a night but daytime go on free range out the forest . If you keep chickens full time inside the coop area O.K for 6-8 chicken . The nail shooter look like like pistol but call Nail Gun .
Maybe the duck even no need house just some sunroof or dry good air dry covered place for egg laying. Mainly the nigh time predators have to keep away .if you have pond the most duck staying on the water and run in the water for safety.
The duck have watery poop and the open wall cross winded dry house maybe good for them.This only what long time ago i saw on country farm but many difference duck have on the world.
Good luck and search more info what best in your situation .
@djsandoors don't sell your skills short, you looked like you had a good plan here and stuck to it and the end results came out great.I hope you have several people ask you to build their next one!!
The video editing make it look so easy but i did sweat a lot in the hot 107 f hot summer days .Also i have to think a lot on this project and posing with the camera.
The table saw and chap saw medium duty good tools but some parts easy to broke.
The compressor and the nail gun same level .
I have also Craftsman cordless drill and saw and very good and strong but some series battery ( Die hard ) die fester if you not using every day ( from storing)
The old Dewalt saw and drill builded heavy duty material for every day use.
Honestly, it's a work of art! May I ask, did you draw up a plan before hand or did you design the coop as you built? Thank you for posting the video, this novice carpenter learned a lot just by watching you!
My air compressor is 5 gal 150 psi craftsman but you can use any smaller gallons size compressor also on small job like this with finishing nail gun . If you using framing nail gun ( bigger nail) minimum recommended this 5 gal size compressor but on bigger job lots of nailing need more bigger air holding size compressor

@djsandoors Dreads are Nasty, very hard to clean and dry out. My friend had them and when he would sweat his Dread would stink, it smelled like a Wet Sponge. I would imagine putting egg yoke and other stuff to start them off just stayed in there because you suppose to wash your hair or it would not start the matting process, so bacteria would grow and that would cause it to reek. Anyway I hope you are aware of what others smell when you walk by. Good work by the way, try not to sweat.
I did start my dreads from normal long hair and always washed ( once per week) just not brushed this way take 6 to 10 mounts to have full dreads. Anyway you right hard to clean take mach longer time the full drying . My life style and work came with lots of sweating.My hair 1/3 time looks and feel dirty and 2/3 time looks in healthy clean shape. I'm also try visiting my friend hair salon and i have some nice hair wash with head massage.
Excellent !!!! I was looking everywhere for a decent instruction !!! I just found it :) I don't want a fancy cardboard thingy which is being invaded by predetors - cause I know we have one in our barn...

highcountrytimber 1 week ago
@highcountrytimber
I can worried but not mach weasels type coming around here.
The snake can go inside but is O.K no little chick and just try to eat left eggs or waiting for some mouse or rat .
The hens not panicking , not see mach in dark when the snake snick in.
Other than that here in this area not happening bad .

@SingJiya
All best and good inspirations for building .

Hello Tomcat !
I did used some left over WOOD STAIN ( water base)
I did forget what the name . From the original bucket i did put in some smaller can the left over.
I think you can use a Wood Toner or any what you like .
One years after i did repaint this Henhouse with same Wood Stain on the sunny side where the sun start to suck out the color .
