  • That thing is sturdy for sure. Are you not worried about weasels or other smaller predators?

  • @highcountrytimber

I can worried but not mach weasels type coming around here.

The snake can go inside but is O.K no little chick and just try to eat left eggs or waiting for some mouse or rat .

The hens not panicking , not see mach in dark when the snake snick in.

Other than that here in this area not happening bad .

    All best and good inspiration.

    Sandor

  • I'm very new to woodworking. But if you nail something in at a 45 degree angle, wouldn't it be a little unstable? Also, I loved this video, it shows a lot of insight into woodworking.

  • Where are the nesting boxs

  • @MegaSearcy

That two door what i made opening from the roof area .

In the video i did not finished but that is the egg box.

  • Nice construction (movie). How much time did you need to construct ? How much chickens kan be in ? Is it a nail pistol ?

  • @124php

    Hello!

    Thank you for your support.

If you click under the video for ( show more ) you can see all listed info from this construct time and material . This house i keep 12 hens to sleep a night but daytime go on free range out the forest . If you keep chickens full time inside the coop area O.K for 6-8 chicken . The nail shooter look like like pistol but call Nail Gun .

  • @djsandoors Very Instructive.I made a few things out of a rain barrel.

  • ps any ideas on a duck coop house......

  • @Ochibason

Maybe the duck even no need house just some sunroof or dry good air dry covered place for egg laying. Mainly the nigh time predators have to keep away .if you have pond the most duck staying on the water and run in the water for safety.

The duck have watery poop and the open wall cross winded dry house maybe good for them. This only what long time ago i saw on country farm but many difference duck have on the world.

Good luck and search more info what best in your situation .

    Sandor

  • thanks to you will build a coop like this for henn and mandarin ducks. hats off.

  • @thewarriorwitness

The Sears trap me to buy .

The table saw and chap saw medium duty good tools but some parts easy to broke.

The compressor and the nail gun same level .

I have also Craftsman cordless drill and saw and very good and strong but some series battery ( Die hard ) die fester if you not using every day ( from storing)

The old Dewalt saw and drill builded heavy duty material for every day use.

All best from Sandor and happy Craftsmanship

  • @thewarriorwitness

    Thank you !

Maybe i'm some funny beast ?

  • @thewarriorwitness

    Old Dewalt just keep working.

  • Honestly, it's a work of art! May I ask, did you draw up a plan before hand or did you design the coop as you built? Thank you for posting the video, this novice carpenter learned a lot just by watching you!

  • @Rebecca150able

  • @b737drvr

  • @djsandoors hey what air compresser were you using and do u recomend it plz reply

  • @beastly789100

    Hello!

My air compressor is 5 gal 150 psi craftsman but you can use any smaller gallons size compressor also on small job like this with finishing nail gun . If you using framing nail gun ( bigger nail) minimum recommended this 5 gal size compressor but on bigger job lots of nailing need more bigger air holding size compressor

In this coop i just used finishing nail for keep the frame temporarily after i did use bigger framing nail and nailed with hummer .

    All best Sandor

  • Great video, it does my heart good to see the craftsmanship and conservation of old materials into something useful! Your girls will be proud to call that coop home!

  • @GrizzlyGroundswell

    Thank you for your support.

I keep finding material what people just happy i take away and no have to take to the dump station.

Take more time to build from recycling material but on the end sometime more interesting the structure.

The hens did not ask me to build better.

Anyway i just started the next one .

    All best from Sandor.

  • @djsandoors I agree, it has so much more character and actually the materials are probably even better than the ones you can buy today! Aesthetically, I feel it is much more appealing. I can't wait for your next coop building video! Hey think about writing for my relic and treasure online magazine: Temerity Magazine. The treasure of taking discarded materials and creating something useful is truly both utilizing relics to build Treasure! Jan. 20th is our submission deadline.

  • @GrizzlyGroundswell

I kind of just start to interested this treasure hunting but i not strong jet.

My friend from Hungary just started to go in this " hobby" and looking mostly old time under dirt covered tools and historical staff.

I think if i start i have one civil war area ( Savannah GA) where big number of army have base camp.

This place have just grassland a long time .

If you will write please alert me .

Have a good luck with your treasure hunting .

    Sandor.

  • @djsandoors Savannah, Georgia is a great grizzly backyard! There is a ton of history there for you to discover! If your looking for a good cheap metal detector the Garret Ace 250 really can't be beat. Look on craigs list & pawn shops first to get a good deal. Hollands brook is a good online company that works with us at Temerity Magazine if you want a new one. Civil War Relic & Treasure here in America is really highly valued. Your in the right area! Get Grizzly with it!

  • @GrizzlyGroundswell

Thank you i did check the Ace 250 on Amazon and have lots of good comment on.

If you like to treasure travel vacation and travel here Savannah ,GA i can give you place to sleep and food.

The one of place name today Red Gate Farm Rv park and 30-40 acre size area but maybe you can find more place to hunt

  • @djsandoors One day I will take you up on your offer! That is my dream to travel the US and hunt with all my friends here on YouTube right in their Grizzly Backyards, but until I can find the capital to do it, I am stuck in my own Grizzly backyard! Who knows, hopefully I will find something good and that dream will be a reality sooner than later!

  • Nice Job!!! I dig the using of found material. Seems like a simple thing that people forget for the sake of shiny and new at a Home Depot. I'm sure chickens will enjoy those termites.

  • @KallyJones

    Thank you !

The termites left the wood ( move out ) before the grand opening .

Recycling look like take more time and need more difference tools also .

If someone have just hobby tools maybe harder to building from recycling material .

But some have good creative mind and just improvising and figured out the work.

Anyway nice think to recycle and i try to keep on myself if building my own.

  • great job, do you have rasta hair under the Hat also do you smoke pot?

  • @SingJiya

Thank you for the visiting but you wrong if you think i smoke drug if i have rasta.

  • @djsandoors Dreads are Nasty, very hard to clean and dry out. My friend had them and when he would sweat his Dread would stink, it smelled like a Wet Sponge. I would imagine putting egg yoke and other stuff to start them off just stayed in there because you suppose to wash your hair or it would not start the matting process, so bacteria would grow and that would cause it to reek. Anyway I hope you are aware of what others smell when you walk by. Good work by the way, try not to sweat.

  • @SingJiya

I did start my dreads from normal long hair and always washed ( once per week) just not brushed this way take 6 to 10 mounts to have full dreads. Anyway you right hard to clean take mach longer time the full drying . My life style and work came with lots of sweating. My hair 1/3 time looks and feel dirty and 2/3 time looks in healthy clean shape. I'm also try visiting my friend hair salon and i have some nice hair wash with head massage.

All best and good inspirations for building .

I think you can use a Wood Toner or any what you like .

One years after i did repaint this Henhouse with same Wood Stain on the sunny side where the sun start to suck out the color .
