thats not always true it depends on the system some turn the lights green others turn them red

Actually, the Opticom system works by turning all of the lights red, with the exception of the light in that is facing the unit responding, that light should turn to green, thus giving the approaching unit at the intersection the green light and giving all remaining traffic at the intersection the red light.

its a system that they put on fire trucks that turn all the lights at an intersection red so the firetruck can safely go through without having to worry about traffic
