Tesco doesnt destroy small businesses. People who dont shop at small businesses, are the ones who are destroying them.
And as long as people shop at Tesco's, Tesco's will thrive as a business.
So what's next, after you've attacked Tesco physicaly? Are you going to physicaly force people to shop at the small baker because YOU think that's what they ought to do?
@Creeno1 No, Tesco's artificially reduce their prices (because they can afford to) until the local competition is destroyed. Then they increase their prices because they have a monopoly.
Tesco's have no interest in the community, no interest in quality, and no interest in the welfare of their employees. The only people who count for Tesco's are their shareholders. Tesco's are scum.
And, yes, I will take physical action against evil.
Ok, so I just "hurt the structures" you own because I believe you to be evil. Your house, your car, your bike and whatever, untill you do as I say. Because you dont care about the community, the people around you and because you can afford more than I can.
@Creeno1 Well I would suggest that I pay a higher percentage of my earnings in tax than Tescos does by syphoning it off to tax havens, so your intention to harm the honest individual shows you for what you really are. Your search for a reason to harm me resembles some form of personality disorder.
Doesnt matter how much/little they/you pay. The principle, that you claim to have the moral right to destroy their propperty, must go both ways. Bad spelling? Yeah well, if you cant argue the issue, I suppose you have to go there instead. Physicaly attacking and intimidating those of a different mind IS a fascist mindset. Hurts to face it, doesnt it?
@Creeno1 Hypocrite - the correct spelling. Calm down dear. I am fighting the fascists, especially the thick ones, because they are particularly dangerous :D
Oh you mean the fascist who are attacking and intimidating other people in order to implement their political agenda? Yeah I agree, they ARE dangerous. When you see them, I suggest you call the police. Oh wait...someone allready did. Good job!
When you advocate physical attacks on those who do not adher to your views, you have become the very thing you say you wish to fight. Wake up!
Well so far you've not been able to respond to the arguments. In fact, you make every effort to avoid the issue by talking about everything else BUT the issue. An indication of panic. Seeing your points being punctured one by one, you attempt some facesaving hops and jumps that you hope will make you look good. Hey, I'm not the one posing the threats and abuse, remember? That was you. I havent thrown bricks through your windows, nor destroyed anything else of yours. Nor do I suggest that I have the moral right to do so. You on the other hand argue that you have every right to physicaly attack that which you dont agree with and/or find "evil". You've failed to explain why the moral right you claim for yourself, should not be extended to others around you. Because you can't. No one can.
@Creeno1 The moral right to close local businesses, the moral right to drop bombs on innocent people just because they live in a land that has oil, the moral right to kettle peaceful demonstrators, the moral right to create massive unemployment. And you're worried about me? Flattering to say the least !
As I said originaly before you exposed your ignorance; people who do not shop at small businesses, close small businesses. Not Tesco. Tesco did not drop bombs on anyone, kettle "peacefull" protesters or create unimployment. I assure you, Tesco has no reason or even interest in doing any of those things. That would simply be bad business. I am not worried about you as a person, but of the fascist mindset you advocate.
@Creeno1 Apologies for not replying sooner, I've been away for a few days. But flattering to know that you've been thinking about me while I've been away.
As explained before, and hopefully you'll get it this time, Tesco's reduce their prices to wipe out local competition, then they put their prices up because they have a monopoly. If you love Tesco's so much, keep with it, but one day the directors will dump on their employees so that they're out of a job, whilst the shareholders are in Miami
Tesco does not have a monopoly nor will they ever. They dont increase prices other than usual price development. But yes, they are generaly cheaper. Why? Because they are good businessmen and a lot of the stuff they sell is poor quality. Supply and demand dictates their products. Not the other way around. "Dump on their employes so much that they're out of a job" is that a fascist feely argument to justify your violence? Just buy your stuff elsewhere. Problem solved.
Tesco does not threaten you or intimidate you with physical violence if you dont buy their products. They are simply supplying a product for which there is a demand. You are free to not shop there. You on the other hand, demand that people not have the option to shop there (or have a job there), and advocate physical violence as a means to achieve this.
@Creeno1 Good evening Tesco Lover. 'Violence' is a concept that has numerous meanings. Tesco's have violent policies towards any other businesses within its range, including its suppliers. Take it up the arse from Terry Leahy if you want to, but violence begets violence.
Dont know how Terry Leahy is, and dont care (but I pressume he has something to do with Tesco). But I do believe that who ever he may be, he has the same basic rights that everyone else has. Once again you declare yourself judge, jury and excecutioner and say that Tesco is "violent" in another form (sounds a bit wet if you ask me) and therefor you have the right to physicaly attack them. So I ask again: do I have the same right to attack you and yours, based on that logic?
@Creeno1 Tesco's declared themselves judge, jury and executioner of local businesses long before I had any opinion about them. Their tax evasive practices (Tesco's pay a lower percentage in tax than the working man) and their support of the apartheid state of Israel. If you want to remain in false consciousness, thats fine, your loss.
So what you are saying is that if I find out that you dont pay as much tax as I think you should, I should have the right to assault you? If you support a country that I do not like, I can intimidate you with threats of violence untill you stop? You keep evading these questions. Why arent you answering?
@Creeno1 Your questions are rhetorical. You know the answers. Violence is inherent in the policies of Tesco and the like. You don't have to bury your head in the sand just because a few angry people put a brick threw a window of an organisation that has no concern for anyone except their shareholders, who are sunning it up in Miami anyway..
You're not answering (again). You attempt to downplay the violence in the video as if it's not that bad, and deftly forget your own threats of violence in a previous responce. Well if it isnt all that bad, you wouldnt mind if I did it to you, would you? I mean, since you have no concern for me either, you deserve a brick or two through your windows. Right?
Come on LeftWingJohn...answer the rhetorical question so everyone can see your hypocrisy.
I advocate freedom for all people and equal rights for everyone. Even the ones I dont like or disagree with. If I didnt, I'd be a hypocrite like you. You advocate that only people that you like, have rights. Everyone whom you dont like, must suffer being attacked by you because...well...just because. No argument, no reasoning, just throwing stones and acting violently. You've given generous proof that you cannot argue your point (in fact you refuse to).
@Creeno1 You know the fascist world better than me. Achtung, Nazi. All that pressure you put on me was a Nazi tactic. Now fuck off you Nazi. Your country took it up the arse from the Germans, and still do. Bacon smell.
@LeftWingJohn Oooh you sound angry now. Not getting your way again? Are we speedily approaching your do-as-I-say-or-I'll-attack-you mood? There there now. There's a nice fascist.
Just so you know, concentration camps was an english invention (Boer war in SA).
In any case, you are calling me a nazi because we were invaded by Germany during WWII. I call you a fascist because of what you say and do. See the difference?
Just calling Nazis by their full name; nationalSOCIALISTS, LEFTWINGjohn. If it looks like shit, and smells like shit, it propably IS shit.
And yes, I will point out fascism in all its hideous forms wherever I encounter it. The replies are not for your benefit LEFTWINGjohn (but I know that you think so). They are for everyone else, so they can see your fascist agenda clearly.
And no, I am not a fascist or nazi. Every reply I have made to you reflects that. You, on the other hand, have tried to moraly justify physical assault on those who have a different mindset than yours, eventhough they have done nothing else than provide a service which you are completely free to NOT take advantage of. Their mere presence is enough for you to justify an attack. It should be obvious to even you, who the fascist is here.
Oh, feel free to challenge them. But do so peacefully.
Social theft? Think you've been reading a pamphlet or two too many from North Korea or the old DDR. But if that is what you believe, you have every right to work for that agenda. But you have no right to impose it on people by way of physical violence and intimidation.
Do nothing? What gave you that idea? Doing something, doesnt mean physicaly attacking people or intimidating them like you suggest. Doing something, means shopping and thereby supporting the bussinesses you DO approve of. If enough think like you, then you can sustain that bussiness easily. If not, then that is ample proof that you do not have the backing you claim to have.
Tescos deserve all they get!They are quite happy to destroy the high street,kill off independent traders and ride rough shod over public opinion.Petitions don't work,voting dosn't work,so what are people left with?.......DIRECT ACTION!
@liverbird1971 "Ride rough shod over public opinion"if Tesco did that they would FAIL.If the shop is not wanted it will close,if it is wanted you are the one riding rough shod over public opinion with your fascist action.Tesco have got wher they are by listening TO public opinion.I hate Tesco and do not shop there,but this is not the way to sway public opinion,fascist actions FAIL.
@1965ajax : wot the fuck r u talking about ? Sum 1 who fights in the army has more courage in their left testicle than u do in ur entire body. You sound like a jumped up know all can't get a bird faggot. Why even bring the army into it? The people in the vid don't give a flying fuck about anything u said. They just want an opportunity to riot because it will give them a little "excitement" to fill a little bit of their sad lives. Stop talking whack u fucking moron, go out get a bird, get a fr
So rather than boycott Tesco some anarchists decided to destroy it instead. Sounds like a violent minority trying to force their view on the major who would happily shop in Tesco when it opens.
The Police retreated all the way up to The Arches sat there for 5 or 6 minutes and then came back after Tesco had been trashed.
The Land Rover was a Wiltshire Police one - the copper who had the keys had nicked someone and was at the nick booking them in....(this is from an Avon & Somerset Officer who was deployed at this "event")
I can't fathom why ordinary people attempt to defend huge corporations who's primary role is to pay dividends to shareholders. These corporations have ruptured the fabric of society as they are responsible for moving industrial production over to China. How many "real" jobs have been lost over the past 30 years down to corporate greed? The residents of Stokes Croft are more informed than the average tabloid reading morons who're too blind to see the bigger picture.
And you think this is an appropriate reaction? How many 'real' jobs have been created by companies like Tesco? It isn't a case of whether you support small business, people who were going to shop at that Tesco would be prepared to go further to find a supermarket in any case.
@nicktate99 I don't agree with vandalism, a picket of the Tesco Express would be more effective. Tesco jobs are primarily low paid and part time. Tesco should stick to large supermarkets and stay out of the high street. We need industries that produce goods instead of retail parks that sell imported goods.
rather than media attention i think you need numbers to be effective, write some leaflets? get the communty onside? clean up your reputation? i don't want your tesco either. good luck with it.
are the protesters themselves following these comments? if you are, i'm also wondering how many people from the local neighbourhood would have to protest before tesco thought, hang on... are these people really going to shop in our store? could you get to a point where tesco really believe it will be boicotted by the whole community and therefore back out of opening it in the first place.
@whoyoumuggingoff yea i think thats right. At the end of the day tho if the police thought the squatters were going to wreck tescos then they only did their job
'Alright lads, we need to find a way to convey to the government, and the British public, our point of view about the state of modern politics and garner their support.'
'FUCKIN RAM RAID TESCO!'
'Well, that's the best idea we've had all night. Let's do it.'
The people participating in these riots are jobless sponging ponces who contribute nothing to our society . The fuckers should be sterilized if they have more than 1 child. Why should my tax money pay for these dossing scum
@IgotMaddy28 You said:The people participating in these riots are jobless sponging ponces who contribute nothing to our society.The fuckers should be sterilized if they have more than1child. Why should my tax money pay for these dossing scum.The people you've discribed would probably make up a large percentage of our Armed Forces.But, they're somehow turned into,courageous young people fighting for what they believe in, when it's not Tesco's. You should moan at them,for spending your tax money!
Jobless, Chav morons, the police should have told them all to move on and if not beat the fucking shit out the brainless dole scrounging arseholes, these idiots really are the scum of our country. Grow a brain and grow the fuck up!
@TheAlexFarr but it was only a tesco express so it would have only employed 3 people in each shift. So no, people would have lost jobs rather than gained them. But its not just employment, its the culture and community that has been lost, those shops that cant compete and close down might have been there for over 50 years. And Tesco isnt a good place to shop, they just bullied their way to the top
This ladies and gentleman, can be summed up as the absolute scum of Britain. Squatters and lower class that complain at council members when they receive cuts to their benefits; but turn a blind eye to damaging property. As far as i could tell from the paper, this was people complaining about a Tesco opening. Get the fuck over it. Tesco offers good prices and probaly pays better for the workers in those corner tramp shops anyway.
well you obviously have never been out of your rose tinted bubble in your life i can tell. "as far as I could tell from the papers..." you may have well preceeded your comments with "i have no idea whats going at all but.." Get a clue or shut your fucking mouth
@zon3k What do you mean ''I have no idea whats going on.'' The whole riot is about people complaining about a tesco opening so your argument is completely moronic. Opposite to this Tescos was an estate where squatters pretty much ran. All this video shows is pointless damage being done to a good organisation that provides more jobs and better pay for people than 3-4 local shops (That will also charge you more than tesco with less/no rewards).
@piemonster4 You don't see..The Whole Point.. ...Could you clear a few points up for me please.. 1)How many squatters 'run' the estate? 2)How many jobs will be created & how many will expect to be lost? 3)How much will their pay increase&cost of food be reduced by? ..Good organisations, do not bully nor seek to monopolize. They're called: greedy tax dodging leeches. You forgot to mention, the qualitiy of the food? Higher pay will never unite a community, it does the complete opposite. A FACT.
@piemonster4 .. Most of what you say is only speculation and a self-opinionated rant.. .. I can tell you don't understand what's been going on, because you offer nothing..NO facts..NO solutions and NO respect for the businesses & families who will suffer.You call these people 'Scum of Britain' ...Squatters & Lower Class complaining to 'Council Members' about their benefits being cut,who will turn a 'Blind Eye' when property is being dammaged? People who lie & fiddle expenses are called what ?
@Fletchful91 i think its something to do with that tesco sort of ruining the local businesses, im not sure i had a quick read on the 2 articles in the description
Stop biting off peoples heads and being a dick. It's people like you who are retards and critise the wrong people. The people in the wrong here are Tescos not the consumers. The locals are protesting against Tescos because if Tescos opens a store then local businesses will go under ie they haven't yet gone under! Also it's Parliament not Parlament. Learn to use English properly.
Its only Tesco's does anyone care bout them, I mean their a good place to shop why would you be bothered about a place to shop for food, they should be stopping fast food places, least tesco employs people.
We seriously need to have a compulsory IQ test where if you score, let say less than 100, you are just shot on the spot. Would help with over population and also result in the majority of these thugs no longer existing...
@TheHatra - and this compulsory IQ test you talk of (boy, that's what we need MORE dictats) is it possible it would eliminate all the stupid morons who allow their pensions to be robbed; and the retards who cheer the endless wars fought on behalf of corporations; and the muppets who are fine with their children living in poverty because of a bunch of couldn't-give-a-fuck-about-you banksters went and destroyed the world fucking economy? You reckon?
@Bestology your england died years ago and you probbally helped its death by using B&Q ASDA TESCO and the other multi national companies.wheres your local butcher,green grocer,diy shop,milkman and baker.your so full of bullshit. YOU the idiot consumer have destroyed this country..these people want theyre communities back.there is gonna be more of this and soon the people will do this to parla-ment,god willing.
you are such a serf i bet you dont even know what parla-ment means. CLUE its latin
@timHYPERLITE Why do you people live to drag others down. Also if you are Attempting to say parla-ment , I believe you mean Parl-ament If you are taking the "i" out.... It is not me that is putting you out of work, if it wasn't Tesco, you would find something else to drown your sorrows into. People do not have enough time for this, We live to enjoy our lives, why can't you? This country is GREAT, and is still strong, but with people who read the newspaper making horror storys, how can we?
@Bestology parla-ment means "talk lies"in latin.do you own your children?no you dont,the birth certificate gives ownership to the goverment,also the goverment uses your birth certificate to make countafeit bonds to trade on the stock exchange and make loans on.I SWEAR!look up the 12 number code on the certificate on the US stock exchange.its a trade stock.you are cattle and the goverment trade you to the highest bidder.
it should not have come to this ...now a days people camp infront of the store see the local officals launch campaigns to have it removed but it does nt matter nothing is ever done untill these kind of extremes are take iam not saying its the right way to do it but its about time something is done when this many people are against it
Hope they can identify the 'people' involved and make them pay for the repairs and/or make them work in tesco as part of their punishment. I guess this is what happens when you let the unwashed have a few days off work, should ban bank holidays for them while we are at it. No excuse for this behavior, maybe more police should carry tazers?
@wardycam The Police apparently turned up on the basis that somebody had a can of petrol and was possibly thinking about bombing Tescos. So in the imagination of some guy working for Tesco or the Police before any crime had been committed they arrived en masse and arrested people who had done nothing, then the public responded to this tyranical approach. As far as I am concerned nobody has to pay for anything.
So many mixed feelings about the riots...think they went too far but then if they hadn't gone that far would anyone have taken notice? Getting sick of all the people saying "if you don't like tesco's you don't have to shop there" that's not the point! The point is big companies going against public opinion and doing what the hell they like, what is the point of asking public opinion if they don't listen?
@allywright86 How are they going against public opinion? First of all a few hippies does not represent the whole "public" and secondly if the public doesn't want tesco they won't shop there and it will close within in a month. Simples. You are angry becuase you know people want the shop and it will survive. Feel free to shop in your expensive corner shops if you want, the rest of us want cheaper, better quality food. You have no right to force your minority opinion on everyone else.
@meaty20 I take it you're not from Bristol.When it was first known that tesco wanted to build there the local community formed groups&petitioned the council against it.The council then had an opinion poll/public survey on it and said they would honour the result.The overwhelming majority said they didn't want tesco there,the council blocked it to begin with,then overturned the decision after pressure from tesco.That is how they are going against public opinion!
@CastleSnowflake Yes and it causes a lot of other businesses to close down, they get bigger pay people the minumim wage rip off farmers and bribe their way into prime real esate. I have no problem with capitalism but when they get in bed with the government and use the Police to push people around so they can open their shop... Sorry that's not on. Do you think if you had opened a retail shop in the same spot there would have been all those Police?
so you could all riot or you could just boycott the shop. if the estimated 95% of the community are opposed to this tescos they just wont shop there. thats how you protest in this day and age, with your wallet.
I agree. My fear is that more people will react to this the way I have, with anger, and thus the solidarity for the 'cultural quarter' is lost. I feel for the employees of Tesco; minimum wage for days of aggro (e.g no-marks sitting outside with drums) only to find their jobs will have to be brielfy relocated, not to mention a blatant (or maybe latent) threat of violence to them. If only Tesco just listened this time eh?
unfortunately tesco's is a purely capitalistic beast. it thinks only in terms of profit. to be honest in my opinion tesco's can open as many stores as they wish. it isnt up to them to show social responsibility. they are a huge corparation ran by a very small board. its up to the people to show them how things should be. the damage caused in this attack only costs us in increased insurance premiums. by boycotting the stores and not using their services is the only way they can be hurt
ATTENTION SLAVES!! Stop using the fake money (fiat currency - backed by nothing except future debt) that you are supposed to use. Take SLAVE CHEQUES out of your bank account and wallet and exchange them for Gold and Silver (coins and bars). Once this REAL money is in your hands they will find it a lot harder to control you. There is HUGE transfer of wealth going on right now. Be on the right side of it. Check out goldprice. org to see what I mean.

Tescos exists for the shareholders (who are all non taxpaying ex-pats).
Tescos doesn't give a damn about the community and their employees.
Tescos is making a quick buck and will poo poo on us when they've had their fill.

Creeno1 9 months ago
@Creeno1 Tesco's declared themselves judge, jury and executioner of local businesses long before I had any opinion about them. Their tax evasive practices (Tesco's pay a lower percentage in tax than the working man) and their support of the apartheid state of Israel. If you want to remain in false consciousness, thats fine, your loss.
LeftWingJohn 9 months ago
@LeftWingJohn
So what you are saying is that if I find out that you dont pay as much tax as I think you should, I should have the right to assault you? If you support a country that I do not like, I can intimidate you with threats of violence untill you stop? You keep evading these questions. Why arent you answering?
Creeno1 9 months ago
@Creeno1 Your questions are rhetorical. You know the answers. Violence is inherent in the policies of Tesco and the like. You don't have to bury your head in the sand just because a few angry people put a brick threw a window of an organisation that has no concern for anyone except their shareholders, who are sunning it up in Miami anyway..
LeftWingJohn 9 months ago
@LeftWingJohn
Creeno1 9 months ago
@Creeno1 You don't stand for anything, so the hypocrisy lies with you
LeftWingJohn 9 months ago
@LeftWingJohn

And yes, I will point out fascism in all its hideous forms wherever I encounter it. The replies are not for your benefit LEFTWINGjohn (but I know that you think so). They are for everyone else, so they can see your fascist agenda clearly.
Creeno1 8 months ago
@LeftWingJohn
Creeno1 8 months ago
@Creeno1 Tesco's mindset of social theft with the long term result of turning communities into depersonalized ghost towns must always be challenged.
LeftWingJohn 8 months ago
@LeftWingJohn
Creeno1 8 months ago
@Creeno1 I'm getting deja vu. It sounds like you do nothing when someone is screwing up your community. Are you an ostrich ?
LeftWingJohn 8 months ago
@LeftWingJohn

SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS!
terrapyn99 10 months ago 9
@terrapyn99
And you think this is an appropriate reaction? How many 'real' jobs have been created by companies like Tesco? It isn't a case of whether you support small business, people who were going to shop at that Tesco would be prepared to go further to find a supermarket in any case.
And anyway, it's not on Stokes Croft...
nicktate99 10 months ago 2
@nicktate99 I don't agree with vandalism, a picket of the Tesco Express would be more effective. Tesco jobs are primarily low paid and part time. Tesco should stick to large supermarkets and stay out of the high street. We need industries that produce goods instead of retail parks that sell imported goods.

Tesco offers good prices and probaly pays better for the workers in those corner tramp shops anyway.

zon3k 10 months ago
@zon3k What do you mean ''I have no idea whats going on.'' The whole riot is about people complaining about a tesco opening so your argument is completely moronic. Opposite to this Tescos was an estate where squatters pretty much ran. All this video shows is pointless damage being done to a good organisation that provides more jobs and better pay for people than 3-4 local shops (That will also charge you more than tesco with less/no rewards).
piemonster4 10 months ago
@piemonster4 You don't see..The Whole Point.. ...Could you clear a few points up for me please.. 1)How many squatters 'run' the estate? 2)How many jobs will be created & how many will expect to be lost? 3)How much will their pay increase&cost of food be reduced by? ..Good organisations, do not bully nor seek to monopolize. They're called: greedy tax dodging leeches. You forgot to mention, the qualitiy of the food? Higher pay will never unite a community, it does the complete opposite. A FACT.

@wardycam The Police apparently turned up on the basis that somebody had a can of petrol and was possibly thinking about bombing Tescos. So many mixed feelings about the riots...think they went too far but then if they hadn't gone that far would anyone have taken notice? Getting sick of all the people saying "if you don't like tesco's you don't have to shop there" that's not the point! The point is big companies going against public opinion and doing what the hell they like, what is the point of asking public opinion if they don't listen?
allywright86 10 months ago
@allywright86 How are they going against public opinion? First of all a few hippies does not represent the whole "public" and secondly if the public doesn't want tesco they won't shop there and it will close within in a month. Simples. You are angry becuase you know people want the shop and it will survive. Feel free to shop in your expensive corner shops if you want, the rest of us want cheaper, better quality food. You have no right to force your minority opinion on everyone else.
meaty20 10 months ago 2
@meaty20 I take it you're not from Bristol.When it was first known that tesco wanted to build there the local community formed groups&petitioned the council against it.The council then had an opinion poll/public survey on it and said they would honour the result.The overwhelming majority said they didn't want tesco there,the council blocked it to begin with,then overturned the decision after pressure from tesco.That is how they are going against public opinion!

Do you think if you had opened a retail shop in the same spot there would have been all those Police?
Iain1962 10 months ago
so you could all riot or you could just boycott the shop. if the estimated 95% of the community are opposed to this tescos they just wont shop there. thats how you protest in this day and age, with your wallet.
slowhandpuke 10 months ago 2
@slowhandpuke
If only Tesco just listened this time eh?
geez85 10 months ago
@geez85
unfortunately tesco's is a purely capitalistic beast. it thinks only in terms of profit. to be honest in my opinion tesco's can open as many stores as they wish. it isnt up to them to show social responsibility. they are a huge corparation ran by a very small board. its up to the people to show them how things should be. the damage caused in this attack only costs us in increased insurance premiums. by boycotting the stores and not using their services is the only way they can be hurt
