This documentary certainly opens your eyes to a different side of Iran that is not portrayed in the media. I did not even realize that it snows there! The visuals throughout were stunning, and the resolve of the Bakhtairi people is striking. I think we can all take a lesson from this culture.
Education is important all around the world. It is interesting to see how the Bakhtiari people adapt their education style to meet the direct needs of the people. It is enriching to see how these individuals still value the importance of educaiton with so much going on in their lives.
really 'felt' this movie when I watched it last week. I got tired watching the Bakhtiari climb the rugged hills; I felt cold when they crossed the running streams and walked through snow; I smelled the fresh air when they came upon a meadow. What is altogether remarkable is that this was a documentary shot on a limited budget, but it looked better than movies that cost millions to make. Interesting story, interesting people.
I think education in Bakhtiari society is exactly what education should be; learning skills that will enable the children to succeed in their lives. Everyone should take a lesson from the Bakhtiari on this one!
I think the most remarkable and universally relevant issue is how education can meet the growing demands of society while still retaining the values of the culture. It is amazing the level of dedication to education the Bahktiari have given their lifestyle. I would have thought, prior to viewing the film, that their lifestyle would impede the opportunities for education but that clearly is not the case. They have accepted the difficulties and turn them around.
I watched several clips and noticed how beautiful the land is. The girls are also beautiful. Very interesting to see the children being schooled. The children are taught that hard work is thier life. Too bad our generation doesn't value hard work.
I am also very interested in how education within the tribe is organized. Do you the children start school at a younger age? Are they taught mostly life skills and working skills? How are they grouped?
The documentary looks magnificant! I'm very interested in how the children learn to read and write while living their nomadic lifestyle. Also, the scenery is quite beautiful in the "tribal land" video!
