LOVE that Game of LIfe advert - remember it well! Never thought I'd see that again! Thank you SO much for posting it. Remember the McDonalds one as well - whatever happened to Hamburgler? I know they changed their slogan a few times like "A visit to McDonalds Makes Your Day" which is far more catchy than "I'm lovin' it!"
Nice to see American commercialism invading UK TV back then; you folks have my sympathies. For the uninformed, Xavier Roberts also brought us Cabbage Patch Kids four years earlier.
The "Strangers" ad was weird. I'm sure the picture freezing on the man's face at the very end and the chyron suddenly popping up on the screen unsettled some younger viewers.
Followed by Duncan Preston's kerbside disappointment PIF - amazing.
It must have been a tough decision for Preston to take that role when you consider that he was to become the poster-boy for 70s/80s paedophilia. It's a testament to his fine acting that he is associated with much nobler roles than this.
Yes, a policeman brought it to our junior school on more than one occasion and although we didn't fully understand the full implications of the film it left us all with a very tangible sense of unease, creepiness and confusion. We were being furtively exposed to a world of twisted adult desires without having them explained. But then again, how can you?
This is the version I was brought up on as well, before they hit on the brilliant idea of having a kid do the voiceover instead of a noticably perfunctory Keith Chegwin.
the furskins? what were they thinking?

I didn't realise until I saw the PIF after all these years that it is really Duncan Preston in the car.

Re. Hamburgler, after several years of community service, he found Jesus in 1992 as was last reported as heading up a Rainbow church in Smethwick...

That PIF was a much shorter version of the long 'Say No to Strangers' film which was made for showing in schools and is also available on YouTube.

Supports my theory that we started to notice stuff like 'Furskins' around 89/90... but why?
