Do you guys know what is the meaning of copy? If you want to say that the both songs use same chords or same melody. Then most of the songs are copied then. So like what you said, if "heal the world" use G D Em C, here use G D Em C too, is that meaning to say copy? No, its not because melody and chords are the most basic stuff. These can even say that it's a style of the singer or either unique of music.

Try taking up gig, & u'll be able to able to understand more about the similarities about chords & etc... Layman may not understand, but that doesnt mean that anyone has the right to oppose a composer's hardwork. It is definitely not easy to brainstorm & come out with something unique. If u're focusing too much about the 'non-important' factor, u'll miss the gist of this piece of art
