It hurts the lives of people who abuse its delicious yum yums, and also takes their money. But the food is not addicting, right? They can stop any time. Their own fault. If somebody has a hunger that is not manifested physically, then it is still hunger none the less. It is their decision to feed it.
If somebody wants to believe it without paying, sit at home with the book.
Scientology has methods to prevent people from leaving. If you begin to question Scientology, you're brought to Sea Org ships and forced into what is essentially slave labor. You can only get out by proving loyalty to Scientology; this is effective as a means of brainwashing.
