@NerfHerderD17 the commutator disconnects the loop from the main circuit when the loop is at 90 degrees with the direction of magnetic flux between the poles. thats why the current continues to flow in the same direction during both half rotations
if the commutator was not in two pieces then there was no way to separate the current from the two conductors.the loop would separately form a complete circuit. :)
hmm i want a vid like this, but kinda showing better (or slightly more lifelike) things like armature, laminations brushes, windings etc..flux path looks cool
