That tree will die if it lives indoors. As would the maple. Junipers and maples need dormancy in the winter or they will grow all year, exhaust themselves and die.
@SanRafaelSwell I've always heard they ( Juniper Shimpaku ) will die indoors to, but can be indoors for a certain amount of time, several weeks, maybe a few months. Was also told they could be dead and the artist won't know it for 3 to 5 months. I understand it shows it's suffering wounds when it's too late.
@IbnSaeed I've bought a handful of junipers from ebay with relatively good results. Amazon also has them but I urge you that you will get a healthier tree if you buy it from a local bonsai nursery, a local garden nursery, or a local big box store like Home Depot or Lowes. That way you know exactly what you're getting and you won't be dissapointed with your material when you get it home unlike ordering from online sellers. Also there are tons of books. Check Barnes&Nobles, Borders, or Waldenbooks
Great video ! thanks. Earlier today, I was about to buy one of those at my local home depot.. but I wasn't sure if it would make it in my office cube..in which there is no sun light at all. Does this type of tree works in all time shade places ?
@yboben Skimpaku are very versatile when it comes to soil. As long as it's not 85, or 100% clay you should be fine. They are very hardy and are prone to root rott. Too much water will kill a shimpaku.
here is the thing. you need to choose good root system when your out to buy one, unless it's very old and its from the wild, you have options right?...so why not choose something that is of bonsai material, not all shrubs can be called bonsai even though you shaped it already, bonsai is a never ending process, why not start from a good material rather than to an irregularly shaped shrub who after undergoing some processes may not even look that great?!...
I hope you will keep us posted on how your juniper fares over the long term. A lot of people want to keep juniper bonsais indoors, and a lot of bonsai pros warn everyone not to. I hope you are successful because I would love to be able to tell people that they can keep a juniper in a dorm or apartment window.

@ Rusalkablue - No problem, I had much fun creating it.
@ Transatlanticism04 - The tree's doing ok, It's in my dorm so it doesn't get as much sun as it should. Nope, I decided to leave the trunk! :)
@ Tanta88 - Thanks!
@ Limaadonis - Gracias, he intentado hacer lo específico de vídeo y precisa en lo mejor de mis habilidades!
