ADD and ADHD are created by psychiatrists ( DSM-1V). There is no scientific prove what so ever on these labels. Ritaline is a hard-drug/ speed and therefore always harming. The farmaceutical industry has just one interest and that is selling their medicine's. There not there for you're health.
America 2011: stick a label, stuff them full with dangerous drugs and they'll do what ever Obama says. Obama will also help to kill yourself (Health care Bill)
What is being treated? Well, for one, troubling and troublesome behavior, and not discreet disease states! This is about the altering of the individual so as to alter the social; and such is the manner in which the collectivist-coercive dimension of institutional psychiatry acts as our culture's social engineer.
The psychiatrists statement, starting at 1:47, is most telling. Whether symptoms are attached to a disorder or not? Such a paradigm, that by altering the individual, one alters the social, is borne out by the doctor's assertion that such medicating will treat symptoms and get them "out of the way", so that children and families can benefit from other treatments that last a lifetime. Really? Who clearly benefits from this decidely reductive take to problems in living and social conflict?
lol a lot of the research conducted is flawed. Up to 75% of reports may be ghost-written (Healy, 2004), which is often BEFORE the research and results are obtained. If 10 studies are done and 9 show negative results, they only have to publish the 1 report that shows 'good' results, and these results are often altered. Many of these reports are conducted and funded by the drug companies. There is NO such thing as a 'chemical imbalance'. There are NO medical tests to show it.
I believe is if it helps the child out with Mood disorders. there is such a thing! My son was never on Ritalin . My son was depressed and has OCD. He is taking Lexapro, Abilify and clonzepam!
Try feeding your child a raw organic vegan diet, get plenty of sunlight and exercise. I guarantee all symptoms will go away. BTW, OCD is a make up disease.
@BlueEagle8 The truth is that the school board does make money for every child goes on ADD/ ADHD drugs, which the child must now attend the special education classes for learning disabilities. It is under the Individual Development Education Assistance Act of 1985. The government allotted over $2 billion for this program.
In addition, when talking about informed consent in regards to the psychiatric drugging of children, it is all too common to see those that create "Negative Propaganda" to include religious bigotry. I truly feel that this is caused by a few instigators who want to provoke and cause a diversion from the reality of what is actually occurring in our nation.
This is an excellent debate that crosses all religious and political spectrums. As a mother who was coerced to place my son on ritalin by his school and had my child harmed from the drugs, I am thankful for Ms. Kelly O' Meara and her stand on this issue. I commend her and people like her who have the guts to stand up for parental and all children's rights.
Why the fuck is Scientology being discussed on here? There are several anti-psych groups not at all associated with Scientology OR CCHR. You fucking bozos need to discuss relevant topics here.
The one part about diagnosing mental illness which neither party unfortunately talked about is there are no physical tests done on the brain. So hypothetically speaking, a child with ADHD and one who just has its symptoms would both show to have mental illness.
Scientology ruins lives. It harasses critics. It breaks up families. It abuses the weak and the lost. It impoverishes the gullible, and then turns them to indentured servitude when they can no longer afford to pay their way to 'enlightenment'. It has no respect for human dignity, human rights, and human life.
Scientology plays on the victim's vulnerability and pocketbook.
Haha, imagine you here, yet again on another video to push your paranoid anti-Scientology absurdities. Trust me, once you get the proper treatment all the paranoid delusions will disappear and you can start to have a life again.
SCIENTOLOGY is a CRIMINAL MIND CONTROL MONEY CULT that was FABRICATED by a penniless, drug addicted wife beating tax cheater named L. Ron Hubbard and is now run by a violent alcoholic dwarf named DAVID MISCAVIGE, whom apparently beats his staff and humiliates people for his own amusement.
Your ramblings are getting quite boring at this point. Anonymous is a joke and you must be one of the top-tier dorks in it. Get a fucking life, you loser.
The Church of Scientology adopted a "hardball" campaign vs the IRS during the 1980s and early 1990s, which exerted maximum pressure vs the IRS. None of the following is disputed by Scientology officials and some of it was boasted about by David Miscavige in his October 1993 speech:
- The IRS and its individual officers were sued for $128m.
- 2,500 lawsuits were launched vs the IRS.
- Private detectives were employed to find out what "crimes" IRS officials were guilty of in their private lives.
What Dr. Sophy doesn't tell you is that Child Protective Services (also known as Child and Family Services) has its network of social workers and busy-body public school teachers making false and groundless diagnoses of "mental illness" or "attention deficit disorder" in children who attend public schools. They will then have Judges issue orders to remove children from their families and be put into foster care if the parents don't agree to have their kids take these controversial drugs.
The ideas expressed by the CCHR are so extreme, bizarre, irrational, illogical and ridiculous that it is impossible to take them (or Dianetics) seriously or reasonable in any way. For example, Hubbard (and the Church of Scientology) blames psychiatry for the rise of Hitler and Stalin, World War 2, the Holocaust, the attack on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre on 9/11, the Virginia Tech shootings, the war in Kosova and numerous other international tragedies.
In 1950, Hubbard originally created Dianetics to be an adjunct to psychiatry, and respected psychiatry as he sought psychiatric help himself several times. However, not surprisingly, Dianetics was rejected completely by the Psychiatric and Medical community and Hubbard took this rejection personally and became intensely bitter and paranoid towards Psychiatry. So, in 1969, he set up the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) to expose what he considered to be the evils of psychiatry.
They are "true symptoms". But he cant tell you what the symptoms are of WHAT? Doesnt make any sense. Somebody help me please. This greasy guy doesnt make any sense. He's talking in circles.
Wait. He said, "Whether they are attached to a true disorder is an issue that maybe could be a debate for science."
And then goes on to say "We're definitely treating disorders".
What?
And thanks for clearing up that psychiatry isn't a science, "doctor", and leaving your own diagnostic criteria up to this nebulous "science" that will apparently figure it out for you, since you obviously can't. Yet another clueless pseudo-intellectual spewing out ignorance.
Clearly the reporter won this debate. While she cites FDA studies, Drug Enforcement Agency drug classifications, clinical drug trial data and comparable placebo studies, the psychiatrist gives meaningless platitudes.
OpenComments you're a fucking moron. The debate is between an investigative reporter from the Washington Times against a psychiatrist. I highly doubt the reporter or the psychiatrist are scientologists.

Pushing drugs on our children is a crime against humanity. When psychiatrists prescribe psychotropic drugs they have no medical objective science to validate their action. They do nothing to address the real causes. Drugs are toxic. They have serious adverse effects especially when they are used longterm. They are also very addictive and can be impossible for some people when they want to withdraw. Psychiatric survivors worldwide know from experience that 'drugs do more harm than good'.

Treat symptons?! How about treating the cause!
There has not been one child on an organic vegan diet that I know of that has had any of the symptoms that SSRIs or any psychotropic drugs treat.

Althought there is an effective way to use them, schools wish to just dole them out as soon as they can and not think about it.
This comes from first-hand knowledge. I am still angry at my old teacher for pushing, and pushing, and pushing Ritalin onto me.

This is what the Church of Scientology does:
- They con people out of thousands of dollars with bogus self improvement classes.
- Scientologists are told to shun people (even family members) who leave. Look up 'Suppressive Persons'.
- The Sea Org uses its members like slaves (they are not paid for their work) and people who disagree are locked up or
forcibly stopped from leaving.
- They use slander, harassment and stalking to attack those who outspokenly disagree with their 'religion'.
