  • All you guys giving lessons on YouTube are tuned to e flat then which is fine but no one bothers to mention it at the start. It's very hard to follow if your guitar is set up for standard tuning. It's a huge hassle to drop to e flat and expect to play without increasing the strong size to 11s at least. The bridge drops and the intonation is thrown off. The guitar really has to be set up for the e flat tuning. Of course if the guitar is set up for E flat then it's very difficult to play stuff

  • tabs?

  • for a dvd, you shouldnt put your natural style in music, but the correct way

  • what song is playing at the end?!!?? it sounds so cool

  • @TheLilBush007 bold as love - hendrix

  • Não está exatamente correto esta forma q ele toca.

  • I want to get a guitar just to learn how to play this

  • @MiaVitaBella Do it.

  • @Kmanmarr im instrument challenged LOL I love watching and hearing though

  • @MiaVitaBella sooo funny. im the same way...cant play at all but i watch these instructional vids all the time!

  • did anyone else immediately realize his guitar was tuned down a half step?

  • @RobertLamm5 Well that's kind of obvious given the song and the artist...

  • Not playing like Hendrix. He is forgetting the thumb etc.

  • @Jubbeli20 But it sounds just like him, so who gives a fuck. It's music, aka sound.

  • thumbs up if you think he looks kinda like a young tommy chong lol

  • at around 3:37 to 3:42 sounds like tears in heaven by EC

  • I could play this before I took an arrow to the strat.

    Seriously though I'm jelly

  • I thought McCartney was in Wings

  • Comment removed

  • awesome lesson man, what great guitar player you are

  • Gimme that damn guitar son!!!!!!!

  • AMAZING

  • I love the strat this guy's playing

  • If its an attempt to play it "note by note" is has many errors, and a sloppy way of playing it. Wrong notes several places.

  • @pbstratocaster

Yeah, Andy's so bad he's been invited to play lead with Jimi's band in front of 10s of thousands of people... maybe you should call them and let them know how much better YOU are...lol!

  • @pbstratocaster With all due respect, for those of us who play AND sing outside of our bedroom, this is a great way to play it, listeners cannot discern a mislocated 9th from a friggin Fiat, and they are wildly entertained.

+This guy has real credentials, millions know who he is....its ENTERTAINMENT, not surgery. This is one of the reasons songwriting sucks so bad today...a million technical shredders and nobody with the ability to form an entertaining verse, chorus, etc.

  • @08spoons I play many places, but not in my bedroom. Im also not very keen on shredders and technical stuff, where you almost forget what its all about in the first place: MUSIC. I like Ry Cooders "sloppy" way, and Scott Hendersons experimental harmonies outside the pentatonic scale. So far so good. My point on this issue is IF, I said IF he was trying like a million others to play "Little Wing" as NOTE FOR NOTE,,,,THEN it was a bit off. Thats all. ( I play Little wing on every gig ).

  • @pbstratocaster Well put, I had a feeling you didnt play in your bedroom anyways'!! No hard feeling, I see your a great fellow.

I kinda like the sloppy Hendrix myself.

I really believe w/ him, it was good songwriting first, guitar sexuality second. He could be really clean. Check out the dick cavett show where he sits in w/ the band and the have to kind of pick up and go w/ him.

There are a million stories about how he would pawn his guitars and when gig time came he had nothing!

  • @08spoons you should have stuck your ground - you were absolutely spot on with your comments! :) A guy claims to play this at EVERY gig - says there are multiple errors in the way it is being played here - but doesn't rock up with a better/more accurate or even similar version?!?! I'd be calling that one out right down to the wire ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster stop trying to change the subject - way too transparent - and who's talking about changing this version? Not me - I want to see you put your money where your mouth is - you say this version is wrong, has "many" errors and is sloppy - I say you are completely wrong - now prove your point by reference to facts rather than opinion and then prove that you can do better. My money says you are unable to do either and you'll try to change subject again ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster it's a million million times better than anything you could ever achieve - nice try though... As soon as you get around to posting something - fuck, ANYTHING - better get in touch - until then - you're just another saddo, trolling youtube - thinking he's the shit and but being COMPLETELY unable to prove it and getting ridiculously pwned by everyone he comes across - super, super sad....and no one is taking your criticisms seriously anymore - win! :)

  • @pbstratocaster oh and for the money shot - I said you'd try to change the subject again - and you absolutely did NOT disappoint - the worst part is - you genuinely and truly think you are in the right here...you don;t even get that everyone else now sees you fro the utter fake and loud-mouth that you are. I am actually embarrassed for you... :)

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster sounds to me like you're very scared - I'm with B5th on this - anyone can comment on the Mona Lisa - but if they start talking about technique and composition being piss poor - they had better have better technique and composition themselves. You're way out of your league in this thread, you should suck your thumb and stay quiet.

oh and I like the les paul video. That dude is a very good guitarist - where the fuck you get off saying otherwise is beyond me.

  • @guitarguy3502 thanks man - but best not to get involved - I'm just glad he's rubbishing me - if he liked my playing - I'd be hanging up my guitar for ever - he's even rubbishing my 1977 strat on my page...I think he has no life and is angry at the world :)

  • @BlackenedFifth just so you know - he's really rubbishing you on your page and has disliked all your videos - you might want to block him.. Never seen anyone that pathetic or sad before on Youtube!

  • @BlackenedFifth only just getting through all these - but fricking hell "My money says ... you'll try to change subject again"! you called that one right down to the letter! lols - I'd have given up here if I were pbstratocaster...this made me laugh my ass off - it's like watching Einstein arguing with a retarded kid :) thanks man

  • @BlackenedFifth Thanks, I try not to banter back and forth too much, it makes us both look ignorant, which I happen to accomplish very well on my own! Unless, of course, its about disco than the gloves come off LOL

  • @08spoons nah - people like to run their mouths off on youtube and the get upset when people call them out. I always find the best way to call their bluff is to get them to prove their point without going off on crazy tangents and challenging them to prove they can do better. you can't trust a guitar critic who cannot play; a real guitar player will rise to the challenge - our ego insists upon it! Then you leave the other people in the thread to draw their own conclusions. :)

  • @pbstratocaster Andy Aledort has transcribed hundreds of songs and was an editor for Guitar World and has written a 600+ page book of Hendrix song transcriptions which my daughter literally dissected and it did her a world of good. Check out Andy Aledort and the Groove Kings on Youtube and you'll hear some incredible playing. He's also in Dicky Betts' band and as stated in other comments, has played with Band of Gypsies, Jimmy's Band with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox.

  • @pbstratocaster it does not have "many errors" it's pretty much close to being note perfect for the recorded version-which Hendrix himself was never able to duplicate. . Just checked your channel and you've not uploaded anything better yet you play this at every gig? If you think that Andy is butchering this so badly that you have to post your disappointment here - then upload your note for note version otherwise - we'll take your comments with the pinch of salt they deserve :)

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster "is has many errors, and a sloppy way of playing it. Wrong notes several places." - this is utter rubbish. where are the wrong notes and who are you to call it sloppy? And calling people names? really? Hendrix couldn't replicate the recorded version - show me a live version by him that is note for note - don't just mouth off - prove the BS you're spouting - THEN

post YOUR version of it ( the one u play at every single gig) - put up or shut up as they say.

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster yup - thought as much - another back street wannabe guitarist who cannot deliver the goods. People will read this and see how totally full of shit you are. Thanks for proving my point in under 3 successive posts...

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster lols - keep telling yourself that - you sound like an old man who played in a band at high school and hoped to be something bigger than he is by now - somehow never quite panned out for you. You're full of rhetoric and abuse - the classic youtube troll - pros wouldn't make the kind of bullshit comments you make - and they certainly wouldn't try to qualify themselves by saying how great they are and how shit someone else is without at least backing it up.. sad...

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster you're kidding me right? You can't even answer the simplest of questions - keep changing the subject and then you have the audacity to ask a questioon? Wow!

I'm actually done with you - you've proven the kind of person you are quite well here - all your talk of "floating right hand" and "left thumb behind the neck" (whatever the hell that means!) You're not worth any more time - your posts speak for themselves...everyone can see how silly you are..bye! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @pbstratocaster lols - getting angry are we? I can play guitar much better than you - and I've been playing half the time...you have wasted your life you sad old man - stop being so bitter and learn to appreciate TRUE talent for once. You rubbish Andy Aledort -and now you're rubbishing me - and WE STILL HAVEN'T SEEN YOU PLAY !! LOLS you are such a loser - but I'll take you slotting me into the same category as Andy Aledort a massive compliment! Thanks :)

  • @BlackenedFifth Come back and talk when you can play the tune in question yourself.

Angry?? me ? read your own comments again and tell me whos angry.

  • @pbstratocaster I can play it - learn to read the fricking posts you retard..I can't play it anywhere near as well as Andy Aledort...and if anyone (other than you you sad ingrate) needs me to prove it - I'm happy to record it and stick it up - which is a lot more than some tossers I know who claim to be "great guitarists with 35 years under the belt" ;)

  • @pbstratocaster given that you've decided to show just how childish you are - I thought I'd explain away the dislikes you put on my pages so that people know where they came from and the kind of petty little man you are. I've edited my descriptions so that people can see what happens when they disagree with idiot trollers like you - I'm sure that will put a smile on your face :)

  • @BlackenedFifth What puts a smile on my face, is first and foremost your playing guitar. Its some of the best Ive ever heard. There is no doubt about your skills, and I have to admit that Im up against a level I will never reach, ( all my years on guitar, and it doesnt sound near you) so, I rest my case.

About being childish, its you who keep comming back. I dont need to call you all the things youre calling me. My comments on your videos were uncalled for. You do a great job.

  • @pbstratocaster I have to say - I know you're probably being sarcastic here - but this is actually the truest thing you've posted to date. If you are being serious - I think it's great you are paying the other dude his due respect. It takes a lot to do that - and I think you are a much better person for doing so. Shredding isn't everyone's cup of tea - but you can't deny the little guy can play. I bet you're actually really good too - you should put up a video! :)

  • @pbstratocaster your comments on my videos were completely uncalled for. I'm sure you are being sarcastic now - but you couldn't have put up a more accurate post even if you were being serious!! Of course I keep returning to comment - you piss all over my profile and you expect me to sit back and take it? Not sure how it works in Denmark, but here, we stand up for ourselves. It's fine to disagree - but seriously - rubbishing a person's profile because you don't get on here?

  • It's amazing how many shredders have trouble learning this song.

  • @Stevemcsteve - that's because shredders using shredding as a way to hide the fact that they cannot play very well (see anything by Jacqueline Mannering here on youtube but put in earplugs first). Shredding is a useful skill - but it should be part of an arsenal - I know dozens of guitarist who can shred - and who can play little wing really well though...(I am not one of them though :(

  • @Stevemcsteve I think all kinds of guitar players have trouble with playing something that's not familiarized with, thats a pretty stupid statement, it would be like saying "Oh, a lot of blues players have trouble learning chicken-picking country-like songs", pls grow up, and stop comparing players and styles...

  • /watch?v=VeV-NZVEpGw

  • Any tips on sound, amp settings, fx and so on?

  • @Lastaccountgothacked yeah. clean channel. and your talent.

  • finally, a tutorial where some wraps the thumb and plays the chords the way jimi did

  • i though he said little wayne, i was going to kill him

  • @RustyPease yeah i know thats why i said LOL cause i saw other people having issues with understanding that. Its actually just called D# anyway. (and or) means either way its the same thats what i was tryin to get across guess it didnt.

  • Comment removed

  • I normally play in D # and or E flat lol cause i cant sing to a high E anyway. Andy is a great teacher thanks man!

  • @kittenkilla123 D# and or E flat..... it's the same ^.-

  • If you watch the entire dvd he tells you to tune to d sharp in the begining. Dumb asses

  • @JASONCALEDONIA ....mister smart-butt, D sharp is E flat -.-

  • so if you're gonna teach a guitar lesson and you're guitar is tuned down you should probably mention that in your lesson

  • LISTEN UP! IF YOUR GOING TO WATCH THE REST OF THIS VID, LET ME GIVE YOU A TIP ON PLAYING THIS SONG WITH THE VERSION ABOVE! 1) learn how to do thumbed bar chords 2) they are a pain in the ass, but its ok. WHy? Cuz this version ur watching is actually harder and more difficult than jimis original. Jimi only hits the root note of each main chord first, then follows with other stuff. meaning throughout the song, u will only have to hit the root note, then switch fingering for pull offs etc.thumb up!

  • I got a DVD from him...he always seems to be fucked up :D

  • wow, if you're gonna teach the world to play this song, why not get the Fing notes right? boo! (he sounds right but is generalizing in many places, most people won't know the difference but after transcribing the intro just now, it's sad to see this)

  • to play this , a guitar player needs to first learn hendrix style , then try and play it, To copy it note for note never seems to work looking at most people on here trying to play it , however it gives people some idea i suppose .

  • how did hendrix come up with this shit?

  • @disturbedrocks1996 He was born is my best guess !!! ;)

  • @disturbedrocks1996 pure genius...

  • Talk less teach more

  • Check out "Josee Caron - Little Wing" on Youtube. She's 19 years old from Canada.

  • Andy would be an awsome uncle,He's got that cool vibe about him. He's like Tommy Chong who can shred.

  • @SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 tommy chong Can shred, didnt you see the movies XD

  • @SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 Tommy Chong could shred!

  • @SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 tommy chong CAN shred!

  • @SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 tommy chong was actually in a band with hendrix briefly

  • missed the 9 @ 5:11 - 5:12

  • /watch?v=N7hUjpRMG_M&feature=channel_video_title

this is my cover of day tripper. please help me out thanks!

  • He's in E flat because the song was originally played in E flat. If you can't tell the difference, in terms of tone, between standard and E flat tuning, you have some learning to do. E flat tuning gives you more of a "Fat" tone and is great for the blues. Hence the reason Jimi used it and lets not forget the greatest of all time "SRV" always played in E flat.

  • @kchappell65247 keep in mind, that "the greatest of all time" SRV played in E flat 'cause, thats what Jimi did...but then, imitation is the greatest from of flattery

  • That's why I have two guitars. I think retuning is too hard on strings. Can't imagine doing it with a floating trem. Much prefer a Kahler to a floating trem.

  • This doesnt sound correct at all to the written music..nor to what jimi hendrix was playing

  • I'd sell all my body parts, that i don't need to play guitar, to be able to play this song as well as you. Nice lesson too btw, will get me a little closer to playing it (while keeping my body intact!)

  • i envy those people who can reach the e string with their thumbs.... :(

  • @ngancil LOL I can reach all strings with my thumb I feel sorry for u man...

  • @rsguitarfan yea, i had 2 grip all the strings with my index... the sound it produce isn't quite the same..

  • @ngancil I used to be able to, until i had a f*cking basketball accident (i suck at bball by the way) and my thumb was never the same

  • You have to have hide as thick as twelve elephant hides to put up with some of the crap these morons throw your way. Don't let the bastards get you down, I like your lessons, keep truckin' man. Oh, just a bit of mirth, Hendrix didn't have a "pinkie". lol!

  • fuck it, can't be arsed retuning for this. adios.

  • What is the tempo for this?

  • What tuning do you use?

  • U made me tune my guitar....man u suck..:)

  • Thanks Mr. Aledort. Beautiful playing. I am most grateful.

  • Is clean sound without effects ???

  • first of STOP speaking in fucking guitar and slow down ! people who are learning at home don't know what frets to hit if you say LICK. this is a amazing song... my favorite actually but this tutorial was useless

  • @declice well if somebody doesnt understand of what he is talking maybe he could look up for information. amirite?

  • @declice or maybe your skills just arent quite good enough yet to play a difficult song like this if you dont even understand what he is talking about....

  • @declice lmao couldnt have said it better myself

  • @declice I dont know what the fuck youre talking about, Maybe you could Do some FUCKING RESEARCH before you discredit this video? Its packed full of great guitar knowledge that has helped me a ton, maybe if you would learn to use google you wouldnt be so lost with this song. (PS. LOOK AT HIS FINGER PLACEMENT. YOU CAN PAUSE THE VIDEO.)

  • Love the Lesson Andy Aledort. Great stuff. Your on another Dvd I recently bought last year. Very advanced for a beginner that just knows a G or an A chord. That's why beginner videos are available I know. Andy's finger placements (chord arrangements) are always moving on the guitar while playing. Sounds great, great lesson.

  • @aaa567ify

    Yay! I agree!

  • You are truly a great gifted JH master....

thanks for show the world your great lessons....Rock On!

    ciao

    Eddie

  • i know jimmy is or was stevies idol but i think stevies version is way better

  • Why?Tell me Why Andy? Why your trancribe of Castles made of sand in the magazine Guitar School December 95,is so different from what you play in you DVD Axis Bold?????

and Why you play in half tune in this DVD and jimi play in standard????

  • what tuning is this

  • @mscalabrino238 half tune Eb like jimi in this song

  • so blown^^ i love aging hippie musicians i have one for a dad.

  • that guitar sounds like a tank

  • He looks even more kackhanded than I do but he sounds great!!!

  • thank you very much! this was really helpful!

  • thank you :)

  • THIS IS BEAUTIFUL GUITAR

  • I´m really impressed man ! That´s was a hell of a good lesson.Thanks.

  • SteveKrantz well sorry if i was agressive, I obviously missunderstood your comment.

  • dude is stooooo0ooned

  • ahhhh farout how do you get this great tone D;

  • good lesson but not totally accurate.

  • Those are not the correct tabs....

  • B flat is NOT major !

  • @walterschopp Indeed it is major:-) Listen and you will learn! If you listen to the recording you can hear a c# on the A chord (Tuned up to standard tuning, that would be the d on the B flat chord) And that is certainly a major chord.

  • @Esbenmad I listened all (good) versions of this song (Hendrix, Vaughan, Mayer, Lister,...) and never heard a major third on the transition chord from Bm to Am ! It's a pure chromaticism as Jimi did on many other songs.

The major third don't mean anything right here, no jazzy tip !

    :-)

  • great lesson

  • @iluvtrance69 lol you're funny. Tell me another joke?

  • @iluvtrance69 thanks, tips. Wanna cookie?

  • without Hendrix guitar legends such as SRV, Yngwie, or Satriani wouldn't been who they are today.

  • Great job - thanks!

  • AWESOME job, man. This is the best tutorial to a song that i've ever seen.

  • Jimi Hendrix made Fender

  • Everyone has their own unique twist on Little Wing. I can't copy jimi note for note but thats what makes the guitar a unique instrument right? :)

  • That doesn't sound like the recording...

  • versione orribile !!!!!

  • It's cool BUT that's NOT the way Hendrix plays it! Listen carefully and check out Justin Sandercoe's lesson - he nails it!

  • what amp is he using in this video?

  • He said hed play it slowly. But the groove of the tune grabbed him and he couldnt do it. :)

  • Its just amazing, no body can play it like jimmy, its as if jimmy is giving a message only he could give through his instrument. Andy is incredible, but i guess everyone brings a differents feel

  • wow

  • Why do people have to get into this who's better than who crap? Grow up and spend some time learning to play like the greats instead of criticising others.

  • This is simply fantastic. Great player. Thanks Andy

  • Great! Thank you man = )

  • no stringed instruments no guitar songs at all

  • He's not playing it like Hendrix did.

If you want to get a clue of Hendrix' playing then listen to the original and learn it by ear yourself, I'm sure you can do a lot better than this.

  • @maksmail He toured with Mitch Mitchell and Billy cox in a tribute Hendrix band. I wouldn't bash if I were you, Andy is the man.

  • Comment removed

  • @scottladoucheable I think you got me wrong, or I gave it wrong. He is a great strat player with tone and feel, I have dug his book "Jimi Hendrix Signature Licks", great one. He got me closer to Jimi Hendrix, but for the real thing, there's nothing but using your ear to transcribe how original Hendrix really played his stuff. And I'm not even close to the ballpark of Andy Aledort playing, he is the man.

  • @maksmail Yeah, no worries

  • @scottladoucheable

oof!!! howz anyone gonna answer that haha

I just wonder how Jimi's guitar always sounded like he had more notes on than mine did, and he had more fingers hehe I love how he makes the chords sound so spread out, and I don't know - just - so - full and different

  • Boffo Andy!

  • i dont like this lesson

  • @MrMarcind95 This lesson dosn't like you :)

  • when she's walkin!!! through the clouds...

  • got the whole dvd at a garage sale for $1 :D

  • @fabioyugoh I don't think Andy is going to reply to you.

  • low tuning...

  • @dannon2010 Yes, the song is played in 1/2 step down tuning.
