I just bought this a few days ago. I'm thinking of making my own video review because I'm not very happy with the unit. There are A LOT of quirks. DVD playback and control is HORRENDOUS, extremely clunky and unintuitive. For example, you cannot watch the video and fast forward or rewind! USB playback didn't work well with my sandisk micro cruzer. Touch screen feels cheap. Kenwood firmware updates don't seem to ever address any major issues.
I agree about your point on not being able to fast forward or rewind while the DVD video is on the screen. I have no idea why Kenwood did that. I wish they would fix that in the new firmware. You can go forward and back on chapters while video is playing though. just not rewind or fast forward.

The Kenwood 5120 is the best for a In Dash GPS unit for less than $700 but for a multimedia unit its one of the worse. Kenwood uses GARMIN and its awesome! Outside of the GPS features, the GUI is terrible and there isn't a lot of features that it offers and there is no SD card input like the Pioneer F series.

Pioneer F series+Z3 - get it if you want a GPS plus a good multimedia player!
yeah but you forgot to add: get the pioneer F series avic-z3 if you also want quality and clarity in sound but when it comes to excellency in multimedia its the ALPINE IVA-W505-HANDS DOWN!!!!! Kenwoods picture quality or picture mega pixel etc..... reminds me of game cube or the nintendo wii...in essence babyish....LOL!
Are you having any issues with your WD Passport drive? My 5120 is not providing enough power so my $100 harddrive has turned out to be a waste. Any way to get around this?
I wouldnt recommend goin with a mass storage hard drive, it doesnt run well. It will work, its just incredibly slow and hard to navigate. On thumb drives it works alright, little bit faster, but still slow. The only practical route is the obvious ipod, thats what its made for. You can watch ipod video which is cool, you do NEED to buy the cable which will run you $30. It sucks, but its the only way to go. BTW, you cant watch video from a hard drive.
No. You cannot change the angle of the screen. This is not a motorized screen unit. As far as gaps between tracks, that depends on how you record your CDs or MP3s and has nothing to do with the unit as far as I know.
I'm only posting this because I hate when I mispronounce a word, no one tells me that I am mispronouncing it, then I find out later and feel like a nimrod. But Sirius is pronounced 'Serious'. As in this was a seriously helpful review. Thanks.

New firmware 2.4.0 is out on Kenwood's web site. I recommend you get it because it improves video playback and has bug fixes among other things.

I just bought this a few days ago. I'm thinking of making my own video review because I'm not very happy with the unit. There are A LOT of quirks.
