At least "some" of those people had to be pre-arranged plants, right? Also notice when the lady comes on stage, she's going up the stairs - this is studio 33, the same stairs that the price is right contestants used to come on stage.
@MrMoonlight222 I think it was in Carol Burnett Show Stoppers that Carol said that she had never met the lady, but how did Terri McCann know that the lady asking if she was Maude know that she was from New York? I still wonder the same thing though.
@stevenscottoddballz That's a great scene. It's here on YT. Just type in "Carol Burnett Lily Tomlin" without the quotation marks, and it will show up.
@Archedgar Well said! Back in the 70's, it REQUIRED talent to be on television. Very well said. It was wonderful watching Carol Burnett on CBS on Saturday nights. We all watched it as a family growing up. Such nice times back then!
It is the honesty and the ability to laugh at one's self that makes Carol Burnett so inimitable. The impromptu duet in this clip shines. Carol, you make us all Love you.
the last segment with maude (?) shows just how good carol burnett is. she can bring out the humor in anything. classic clip. thank you for sharing it.
The secene with the guest and Carol singing 'You Made Me Love You' is probablly the best scene from the show ever....I grew up on this show and this is my favorite
Good session orchestras and musicians can play pretty much anything that you request. Plus she told them what key to play it in so that made it that much easier. A lot of musicians can pick up on the chord progressions needed as soon as the person starts singing anyway. You have to remember that the musicians on this show were some of the best in the business at the time.
I remember seeing that episode and she was brought to Carol's attention by another audience member who thought she was Bea Arthur. She says in it her name is Terry McNab (sp?)

Holy shoot, I'm only 25 so I didn't get to watch this on TV, but my god, this woman and her show are great.
This was a time when people on TV actually HAD talent, nay REQUIRED talent to be put on television. Nowadays any schlub retard gets their own show...
I wish I was born 20 years earlier, <3 the old days(even if I wasn't alive back then)
