2. Quads-the muscles right above your knee on the front of your leg.
3. Calves.
Leg presses can help strengthen your gluts and quads. I'm not aware of a machine that really isolates the gluts.
Leg extensions can build up the Quads.
I've seen special shoes which basically have heels in the front and force you to walk with your heel off the ground which I'm sure would be darn effective at building up the calve muscle strength.
@fwupow You don't want to do too much muscle building without also playing a lot of basketball or just doing a lot of jumping around. The problem is that you can increase your muscle strength so fast that you over-power your tendons and their attachment to your bones. It's no fun tearing tendons and ligaments.
Excellent video. However, I always use another product when I need to improve my quickness. Get it here at: tinyurl[dot]com/d8lxlva - change the [dot] to a '.'
@stephencrossover You are going to use your calves as well. You are actually going to use your entire legs and your butt to blast yourself off the ground. When you bend low you are activating your entire legs (calves, hamstrings, quads) and even your butt. Then when you jump and land your quad and the rest of your leg takes over and slows you down. Hope that helps.
@stephencrossover man, i can squat 110 kgs atg fairly easily and 150 box half squat for explosiveness, should i keep going up with the weight? i don't do plyos untill summer... i want to dunk, my vert is 33 inches (no running) any ideas to help my developement if you would be sp kind? ;)

3 basic muscles involved in jumping:
1. Gluts-Yep your bum.
2. Quads-the muscles right above your knee on the front of your leg.
3. Calves.

Is quadriceps the only muscle group you're trying to focus on , or do you also use calves when you blast off the ground?
