this was a wonderful movie. i watched it on tv with my grandmother when i was little. i remembered not that much about it. but being 32 now, it was a great movie. thank you so much for the upload. it made me miss my family. thank you again.
Why didn't he just air-freight the body back to Texas? People do it all the time. And why couldn't they all keep in communication with each other when they were separated? Didn't they ever hear of cellphones? These guys just didn't think alot of stuff through. :)
I play this scene AT LEAST once a day, EVERY DAY, while at work. I absolutely love every second of it. I can't decide if it is Tommy Lee Jones' acting, or the magnificent score that plays when the reporter says the word "Vision"....but this clip is absolute movie magic. THANKS MARKMEETSWORLD!!!! You are a gentleman and a scholar for making this available at second's whim.
I think anyone would agree, if there's a better Western out there, you would be dam hard pressed to find it.I Drive a Truck and have been thru some of the Country this movie shows, and its right on, not only is the acting about the best your going to see, but the background scenery is about as accurate as you can get they went out if there way to make this movie look, and feel, like a cattle drive probably was.my hats off to all that where involed in the making of this movie .
Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall are actor's actors. They are so good at what they do, it's a crying shame to let 'em on the sccreen. I grew up in South Texas. We didn't have any racial bullshit like Mississippi and Alabama. We worked and lived with anybody regardless of skin color. Seeing Jones hug his friend brought back a lot of those memories.
I saw this movie for the first time when I was in junior high school and I liked it then, but I love it now. Seems like it gets better with age. Like Gus said: The older the fiddle, the sweeter the music. In fact, I'm calling it: This is the best Western ever made.
Thank you for this....when this first came out...I watched it with my dad...we didn't miss a night....my dad passed away almost 18 years ago and its so easy to remember he and I watching Lonesome Dove...thank you again.
markmeetsworld, thanks so much. Give more folks chance to see this great movie. Me and my Dad loved this movie so much, we laughed and cried everytime we would watch it. He would say 'never had a movie said so much about life, just about everything important young folks need to know about is here in this'.
I can't hardly watch it anymore. Not so much for watching it alone and others don't take time to try to understand it.
Call's flashback at the end is my favorite part of the whole movie. He thinks back not only of the surviving friends he has and their experiences together but more somberingly, about the friends who his "vision" essentially killed. His goal of grazing cattle in Montana is what I believe he was refering to when his said he had a "hell of a vision." Thanks for posting this classic.
@WBHkungfu oh hey! you're welcome, ya know i went to cody a few years ago and stayed at a motel there. i don't remember the name but it was on the north side of town on the right side of the main road i believe.
@markmeetsworld hmmmm north side of town? That would be coming in from Billings, Mt and I can only think of Holiday Inn or the Comfort Inn? If you were coming in from the west side of town (on your way to/from Yellowstone) then there are a lot of hotels. Great having you! Come back again :)
Thanks Markmeetsworld for uploding this great movie. I've ever saw it on cabel tv in Thailand many years ago, and really likes it so much. Now, i'm so happy to see it again.
Truth, in many ways, this reflects the story of my family. Great grandad, was a Buffalo Hunter, spent 4 years with the CSA, Horse Artillery, was with Gen Joe Shelbys, Iron Brigade and had his law office next to Pat Garrett. I have always felt a kinship to this movie. Hell of a movie.
Ive been watching this movie for the past three days in my free time on here and i think it might have been the best idea I have ever had thanks for uploading all this
Great job Markmeetsworld. I think it’s the best western movie (and book) ever. The movie was taken almost verbatim from the novel and its based in fact (different names: Loving and Goodnight). Duvall and Jones great, to be sure, but Lane, Cooper and Schroeder were equally great.. Look at the scenes where Newt tried to talk to Lorena...when he brought her and Gus dinner, at the campsite or in his many interactions with Call. The innocence and vulnerability he portrayed were amazing.
Wow brillant story! A tale about friendship love everything! Duvall and jones performances were in my opinion the best ive seen from them, gunna have purchase the dvd me thinks! Thanks Markmeetsworld for uploading top geezer!
@NistleDC1 Absolutely. I uploaded the movie for people who've never seen it, or those who wanna see it again, to watch it and enjoy it as much as i did.
@markmeetsworld Thanks a bunch for uploading this, i have only seen it all once when i was younger, i didnt remember how sad it was, but it is such a classically great movie! Thank you again for uploading it to watch!

Fantastic! But isn't there a scene where Call gets shot in the shoulder on his return trip? Or is that just in the book, too?
