  • I've seen eyes more beautiful than hers but once.

  • I love the shy little look up at the camera at the end :)

  • This song and video are absolute genius. Perfection not reached by today's musicians.

  • OH SHIT. Tracyanne. Where is girl who is as gorgeous as her? Oh my goodness. That song makes me sad.

  • ALOKA, GLOOMY BEAR APPEARS :O

  • Expression is perverted by the fangs of lucre, they eat and the energy is clean.....great band as is.

  • i love this song...

  • I think I am in love

  • I love this song, and moody looking she may be, her voice is great, and oh yeah she really very hot imho,

  • she was amazing at coachella this year!

  • The choreography between the guitar solo and the old dance footage just kills me every time. Well done.

  • What a Brilliant Song!!!! The guitar riff is so cool!

  • ive listened to this song about 30 times in 2 days

  • that pout!!!!!!.......

  • yes, Camera Obscura... i´m ready to be a heartbroken

  • I love her voice.

  • This band is brilliant. Bravo for posting this song.

  • Loves it!

  • this song was in Ps i love you and over her dead body and ive been looking for ages for this song and now i can relax that i found it and can listen to it for hours..

  • i love it

  • This is the most happy exhilirating song I've ever heard in my life!!!

  • At last! A song for the Lloyd's of the world! And a fine bunch of musicians at that! Good on ya Camera - & damn good to have you here in Australia.

  • Hurrah! Joyfuy maudlin.

    Mooorrrrre.

  • This is such an amazing song. I love it!

  • It's nice to have a band that actually plays great enjoyable music, rather than cleverly engineered bits of audio slapped together for maximum profit. The band is tight, and Ms. Campbell's voice - wow! (kinda cute too).

  • breaks my heart. :)

  • one of the best voices i have heard --- ever!!

  • I'm now convinced that Camera Obscura are one of the best bands making music right now.

  • Sometimes less is more. They might lose that "awesomeness" if they become more popular. Let's be selfish and not share them.

  • @spurtong

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. =)

  • Too bad! I've heard a few songs by these guys and I want more!!

  • @spurtong too late

  • @spurtong we're such music snobs. i feel the same way.

  • @spurtong yes, let's not talk bout them, good idea...they're ours, OURS I SAY

  • Had heard very little of this band from the neck of my woods (Glasgow) but will be hearing much more of them from now on

  • This is definitely one of the most underestimated bands nowadays.

  • So, so wonderful :o). My husband is Scottish and I've lived in Scotland and it seems like anytime you mention this band to people there they say, "Who??", lol. Sadly, they don't seem to get as much love as they should on their home-turf.

  • this is brilliance.

  • le sigh.

  • They make me feel so excited about listening to music.

  • this song and video is brilliant from beginning to end. hands down, one of the best songs to come out this past decade. gorgeous. one of those songs that reminds me you how beautiful music can be.

  • I couldn't find this song Until I HEARD THE VOICE OF THE SINGER REALLY CAREFULLY AND FOUND OUT THE THE VOICE WAS SIMILAR TO THE VOICE OF THE SONG '' IF LOOKS COULD KILL'' Great song...¡¡ Ride Bmx...(^^,)

  • This band is the best. Given their awesomeness, I think it's strange that this band still performs for small crowds in Europe, they should be much, much more popular.

  • I love this song and band and I'd love to buy Ms. Campbell a coffee some day....maybe a half dozen espressos.

  • Yes. Very nice.

  • This band should be much more popular. When I heard the album I thought it was brilliant and wipes the floor with the other crap out there.

  • (swoon)

  • Why would he ditch her for a blonde chick?!

  • I love this song!

  • possibly the happiest sad-song I've ever heard

I alternate between wanting to run top speed through the streets of New York, and wanting to curl up on the floor of my closet and cry myself to sleep.

  • I have never been more impressed by a youtube comment in all my life. You are ridiculously funny.

  • This is art! the lyrics are awsome!

    one of my fav songs!

i want to do that dance in public! :D

  • Tracyanne Campbell is so cute.

  • Dawn this lead singer is so fucking gorgeous!

  • ¡ɯ uʍop-ǝpısdn ǝɥʇ ǝʞı1 ı

  • I think I'm tearing up. What a great hook.

  • Addicted to this song...I cant see further than my own nose! haha

  • great band!!

  • is the best song,,, i loveeee

  • I Love till The End

  • "You can't stay agirl while holding a boy's hand.....". Brilliant lyrics they have - Bravo!

  • As soon as I heard the album My Maudlin Career I rushed out and bought all their other albums

  • Love this! Ref to Lloyd Cole, apparently he like it too, thats fine by me!

  • I love this band!

Thank you, stranger on a train, who turned me on to them.

  • How can you not like this song? It's impossible.

  • This song is pure pop crack!

  • 3 times in a row so far. can't stop watching it

  • First time I've heard these guys. Great song.

  • I love her voice!

  • Saw Camera Obscura at 9:30 Club on Sunday 6/21. They played to this as encore to a packed house. Later TracyAnne came outside of the club and signed autographs and took pictures...a real sweet doll! What a night. Here is hoping that they become big, big stars...great show!

  • The way I know I really love a song is when I feel compelled to play it over and over again. Guess what. . . I love this song!

  • Gorgeous song!

  • Just saw them two nights ago at the 930 Club in DC. WOW what a show!!! My new fave band.

  • Wonderful song and an amazing video.

  • eu tamén i love

  • Why does that fat brunette with the ugly haircut have to be so mopey all the time? Ungrateful is what she is. Smile goddamit you're on television.

  • ^^ Unkind, but the funniest comment so far...

  • i laughed

  • @givebeesachance Actually, Tracyanne Campbell is one of the warmest people you will ever meet. I went to a concert and she signed autographs/posed for pictures until we were feeling guilty about monopolizing HER time.

  • @givebeesachance Hey, now, Tracyanne Campbell is one of the most beautiful, talented women in the world.

  • @givebeesachance the melancholic lyrics juxtapose with the uplifting melody, just as the singers passionless visage does with the dancing couple's exuberance

  • i totally agree this is such a great song. It really is wonderful musically and the girls in this band are extremely brilliant!

  • I like this. :3

Even though I was searching for Obscura, a Death Metal band, I still found another good band.

    Woot. x3

    Diversityyyy ftw.

  • @ 2:02 if someone can tell me where i can get a raincoat like that i will be forever in your debt. it's like a dress! except it's a raincoat! [the girls one i mean]

  • i saw a raincoat like that at a yard sale once 'cept it was blue

  • i think ebay has a latex slicker for women if you look that up.

  • LOVE

  • i love love love this song!

  • Jesus H. Christ, I love this band. I hear and see Tracey Thorn, Kirsty MacColl - two of my singing/writing idols.

  • loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • woo! so good.

  • I love this song!

  • hehe..... i Love this song. i dont why it makes me really giggly and happy....hehe.

  • I think Tracyanne Campbell is a real treasure with one of the best voices around.

  • And one of the best songwriters too

  • So good I could cry.

  • I discovered these guys recently while listening to Absoluteradio. Love their sound..

  • MY GOD... this song is amazing

  • ready to be heartblroken!! uju!!!

  • This would have been massive had it been released in the Sixties! Unfortunately bands and songs like this have to compete with a lot of crap in the UK singles chart and the brick wall that is getting regular radio airplay amongst the bland, tired and overplayed stuff. Absolute Radio is trying to work against this- one DJ, the brilliant Geoff, even played the new Camera Obscura single the other week. This band are also fascinating to watch and listen to live- which I did recently.

  • genius

  • LOVE IT

  • brilliant song and video. it's the track that made me a fan.

  • holy smokes this is so crazy good

  • the violins are really nice...perfect really.

  • ok i love camera obscura but i think it's funny how she looks like she couldn't give a flying fuck about anything haha. whoo hoo, their new cd is remarkably incredible!

  • I feel so proud that the above are from Glasgow, Im Scottish and live in Glasgow.

I can tell you theres a world of of amasing bands out there in Glasgow, its brlliant.

  • just love it! ^^

  • They have been around since '96. That to me means it is about time they all get what they deserve. Bloody 'ell! hard working band with a great line up, and Kenny playing the laid back daddy . I am a MacDonald so can't say too much about T,a Campbell. But I am English, what do I know? But to say, bet they're sold out this tour.

  • I can't wait to see them at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis.

  • if this video doesn't make you smile, you may be dead.

  • I Love This Band. "Let's get out of this country" is my new favorite album. Brilliant

  • Just fucking awesome!

  • Great Vid! Brilliant Song! Stunning Lead Singer! Can't believe it took Jonathan Woss to bring them to my attention!!

  • god this (and they) are so damn special

  • apologies to starvingarchitect, i clicked spam by accident when i was trying to reply to your comment, sorry...

anyway, i was meaning to say, i may be bias being scottish myself but we are prety fucking good at this whole music malarky....onces you haven't mention: sons and daughters, josef k, the fire engines, mogwai, the delgados, arab strap, malcolm middleton, aidan moffat, king creosote (and the rest of the fence collective in general), errors, jesus and mary chain, idlewild & so much more

  • the cocteau twins, mull historical society, teenage fanclub, the beta band, franz ferdinand, young marble giants, orange juice, associates, the aliens, the reindeer section, and the bay city rollers

  • I'm not Scottish but without Scotland indie music would have been a bit sad other than a few exceptions like the Smiths the La's etc. Scotland are the kings & Queens of indie

  • scotlands music scene is underrated

  • You're right on there, good sense of what music is!

  • aye.

  • I managed to just come across this song and I can't stop listening! It's just one of those feel-good songs, you know?

  • i love this song!

    <3333

  • this song is not real, it's magic...I love her 4ever!!

  • superb song and she's so cute.

  • my new favourite band and they're from my hometown as well...which is a bonus :)

  • Scotland has some INCREDIBLE music. You are lucky to be from there.

  • it's really true. you are very lucky.

  • we can all consider ourselves lucky

  • Belle & Sebastian, Fratellis, Glasvegas, Franz F and Camera Obscura are 5 of my favourite bands and how odd is it that they all come from Scotland? Is it the water?

  • Curious that Scotland with much fewer population than England for instance can show the world lot's of (what i consider) really good music.

  • jesus and mary chain. another great band from scotland. primal scream too. the bible? are they from scotland. anyway theyre all good

  • yup - yer right !

  • i love this song!

  • One of my all-time favorite songs.

  • i agree wholeheartedly, 1 of the favorites

  • i love how she's just standing there. this is great.

  • Cheers from California. What a smooth sound.

  • :]]]]

  • I love this song, but why do I get upset when I listen to it in my car?!

  • cause you can't see farther than

your own nose at the moment.

    :D

  • i do too

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS

  • This is one of the most underratedly brilliant albums in a long time.

  • you couldn't be more right

  • i like this video cause its on the ride to glory bmx dvd so watching it a few times has got me hooked on this song

  • I love this alot, I don't know how many times I've replayed the song in my computer >_>

  • I really love this.

  • We love Lloyd Cole of any kind here in the mountains of Oregon! Ok...there are only a few of us. Everyone I have ever played a Lloyd song to has liked it.

  • This band have somehow managed to perfectly encapsulate not only the new wave sound of early/mid 80s Glasgow, but the mood and the attitude as well.

'Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken?' changed by life.

'Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken' has reinvigorated it.

  • Love the orchestral work even if it is synth and organ... muah! Throw back!

  • It's a powerful tune! waou...

  • grumpy scottish girls = hawt

  • hulls yus

    isobell cambell too!

  • fuck yeah, i was thinking the exact same thing.

  • I just saw them a few hours ago! Great show! when this song came on there was an almighty roar from the crowd and it was awesome!

  • in singapore? wooo! i was there too! the ending was insane!!

  • Love this song and love Tracyanne Campbell. Beautiful woman, beautiful voice, beautiful idea for a video, beautiful execution of aforementioned video, beautiful comeback to Lloyd Cole and the Commotions song 'Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken?', just plain frickin' BEAUTIFUL.

  • I thought I was the only person in the U.S. that listened to Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. Now I see there are 2 of us...unless you know another gay witch for abortions who listens to LC&C. Not sure I'm comfortable with the company.

  • I love this song! <3

  • this song represents a part of my life..now it's all over but I'll remember it all my life!!!

  • me gusta i like the dance!!!!!

  • awesome song.

though that Lloyd seems like a bit of a dick.

  • Awesome, beautiful, great!

  • can only agree sweet superb ace

  • Fantastic pop song, fantastic band.

And I just can't help but have impure thoughts about Traceyanne whenever I see her...

  • the organ solos in the song are soooo fukin' awesome!!!! I love the Camera Obscura...

  • Absolutely adore this song, it reminds me of when John Peel was alive and making my life so much better.

  • Sooo cute....love this song:)

  • I've just this minute got in from watching them at the Buttermarketr in Shrewsbury ,and they rock my world! The new songs Swans and French navy are FANTASTIC!!!

  • Possibly the best pop song of the 00's. Still stunning. :-)

  • Freaking awesome song, awesome music video - freakin AWESOME! AWESOME AWESOME!!!! I love this group!!!!!

  • Does anyone know if she is maybe also the singer for the concretes? They sound IDENTICAL. But I love them both.

  • I know. She's not. They do sound similar. I love them both too.

  • Does anyone know which movie the film clip is from?

  • tidbitofnothin:

"Actually, it's a clip from a 40's movie called "Til The Clouds Roll By" about composer Jerome Kern. He wrote the music to Show Boat. It's got lots of big names from the time like Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Lena Horne, and Judy Garland (among tons of others) singing his old songs. It's not exactly a sound movie plot-wise (just another in the line of musical quasi-biopics of the time), but the musical segments are great."

  • that organ solo sends shivers down my spine!

makes you happy to be alive :)

  • i REAAALLY like this song. but can anyone explain why she looks so bored/mad/sad the entire time? it's been perplexing me! the song and singing sound so happy!
