  • almost perfect :)

  • I'm sorry, but this is a lot of wrong notes Larry didn't play!

Listen better to the original and you know what I mean...

  • Absolutely superb! I've never been able to figure that jam out on my bass.

    Bravo!!!!!!!!!

  • Very Very Good!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUNKIN' STANKY!!! But oh so sweet. Good job.

  • the first D to E is fretted, the second one Larry plays open D string to E. you can play and got the pocket though

  • could you repost with a link to the tabs, i think so many wou;d love to play this

  • Complimenti!!

[Translated: Thank you, I enjoyed the lesson very much. Larry Graham is more funky than chittlins sitting on the stove for three weeks. ] Showtime Johnny Pal

  • I don't have a tab

  • Nice.

  • you play the bass really delicately. it different lol. but its got movement...plus is that an orginal fender jazz??? nice playing btw

  • cooool.

  • that was awesome

  • That's very good.....most of these "how to play" things miss an important thing:

You have to go SLOWLY at first (which you do!)

    Great job! Thank you!

  • venga man, muy wena !!, felicidades, jejeje

  • hi, what kind of fender is it ?

    thnx

  • jazz bass color sunburst

  • nice!!!

  • you rock.thanks to you and Larry Graham, i'm gonna save up to get a bass.

  • Thank you so much that was very helpful

  • observe ladies and gentlemen this is concentration...the look in his eyes...let continue to watch

  • That has gotta be one of the fastest and hardest basslines I've ever seen. LOL

  • Oooooh..., so that's how it's played. THX.

  • Perfect interpretation. Very smooth note transition, especially on the A and G octaves. This is one of the meanest bass riffs ever, funk on bro!

  • I would like to hear some more thumping from that thumb.

Otherwise it was spot on !

    FUNK ON!

  • now dance and sing like larry does xD

  • very nice!

  • Sorry about that... keep it funkying!

    that's it!!

  • Wow, that's cool... I think I'll try it someday je... Keep it Funking!

  • wery nice!

  • good job dude but where are your bass faces?

You gotta make some faces to show that funk more.

    Great job though.

    Holla

  • i concur. u need more face!

    great video, great job.

  • u nice dog

  • Is that an american jazz? If so, do you like it?

  • jazz bass custom shop '64

  • Extremely well done.

    Much respect from Miami! ;)

  • nice

  • I love learning songs by ear SOO!!! much better then tabs and notes

  • wooww... ure good :P

i dont play Bass by my own but this sounds really cool..

    Awesome!

  • hey man wut website did u get the bass tabs for pow?

  • Just watch the video... he shows you how to play it so well.

  • What ever happened to putting on the cans and figuring it out. I did that for years until I found the internet. But, most of the tabs on the internet are close, but not perfect. So, I ended up just going back to putting on the cans and figuring it out on my own.

  • Thank You dude !

If every musician that posts videos on youtube would make videos like you do, people would learn faster ! Good one !

  • O_O!!!

  • Yeah man!!!!!! This was the 1st slap song I learned as a kid!!! Brought back some great memories!!!! hahaha! Thanks!

    Peace,

    Jackie

  • Hey that is awesome man... how long have you been playing the bass?

  • as he said below "8 anni"

  • Yes, 8 years

  • THank you funkystanki, I dont know Italian....

  • Do you know what "annum" means? That is how I approached that "8 anni" statement.

  • Awesome man! Thanks for the vid..helped me a lot

  • good one

  • niente male!da quanto tempo studi?

  • Ciao.

Comunque, basso 8 anni, no autodidatta.

Good work!

    respects,

    max

  • Very nice...

  • ottimo tutorial.

  • Thanks Man, this video wants to be a tutorial of Pow not a simple execution.... for that motive I have preferred to expose the Basslines and then to play the piece to time before....sorry for my english

  • Message to me , you can play bro , but the way you started had most of us thinking you were a retard . play on my man ,

  • His bass tone is as good as marlowe and undaggy ,for real !

  • check him out at 2:25 , this dude got skills .

  • thanks dude this helped me a lot

  • Thanks so much for posting this.

    I learned this from you.

and made the Video response above =D

    devo ringraziarti, ottimo lavoro.

    p.s.

    che suono il tuo Fenderone!...complimenti.

  • ruler

  • Great, no better lesson on youtube currently.

  • the way ur looking at the camera is freaky..

  • screw this riff, my fore arm just fell off haha

  • Is this a vintage fender jazz bass??

  • No man, this is a custom shop jazz bass '64

  • i search the tab on google and all it give me is only 2 lines of shit

  • MEE TOO!!!!

  • Amazing. Good work!

  • Just great

    Thank you for the lesson

  • Gratz man! Great great video!

This song is awesome and so is your interpretation ;)

  • that... is so... badass... thanks man, i need to learn this song

  • Pretty sweet, just play a *little little* farther back on the beat and it would be awesome.

  • You are not Italian!!! You are BLACK, you even have a FRO!!! just kidding of course. I am stunned by your acuity. It is as humbling as it is inspiring. I too play several instruments "by ear". This is one for my favorites.

  • Cool! Alright!

  • you're missing notes

  • unlike you, this fine man hear plays by EAR, instead of tabs or the work of other people. he uses actual musical talent to interpret the song. u have absolutely no right in saying hes missing notes.

  • actually I play by EAR too, I don't know any theory, all I'm saying is that what he's playing sounds incomplete, check out videos of MarloweDK (specially the "Pow" one) he's the man.

  • that is very, very, good!! Great work!

  • wow!! nice man! gj!!!

  • Magic Player

  • 5 stars good job :)

  • Man thanks to you...I finally learn to play Larry Graham's Pow.... Thanks agayn man... and by the way..my name is Larry to :D

  • Dude!!! excellent tutorial on Larry Graham. Makes learning easy and a bit more approachable for old farts, and young alike. Thanks so much for the post...

  • COMPLIMENTI!!!!

  • Your version rules TOO!!!!!!!

  • NICE!! Thank you for the slow play!!

I was looking for slow play for the long time because I could not understand how Larry plays POW.

I'm going to practice with this viedo with gratitude.

I am looking forward to see "Release Yourself" slow version by you, if possible.

  • nice!!!

  • man, that is dirty. nice groove, greasy pocket.

  • Dude that is freaking sweet!

I assume its a Jazz bass.. what sort've amp / effects you using?

  • nothing effect and amp.only my jazzbass 64 nos , Line in mixer, flat eq.

  • whoa!!!!! nice...don't mind me asking, but where'd u learn the song from? a book? tab online? please respond! i love this song!!!!!

  • i don't have tab or book. i listen the song and reply. (sorry but i'm italian and my english is terrible)

  • Cool!!!!Thanx i have work for months with this video.

  • perfect,nice job man

  • I meant to say pluck the open D string not thump

  • after plucking the high D to E the next thump is an open D to E second fret of the D string followed by a D fifth fret to E seventh fret of the A string. It's a quick shift but i'm pretty sure that's the way he played it.

    Bass Power!

  • Go Jew Fro

  • one of the most perfect bass videos on youtube, well done

  • wot gear do you use coz that is a sick nice tone u got goin on

  • u r really dam good, note for note perfect
