Portraits are bad. Without lens correction this product as much as others fail in quality. You don't miss a shot ok but don't expect quality. I own one, not sure I did the right thing really. I have to thank DXO correcting the defect but still I know I need better than this. Better spend 3 times more for a more professional zoom.
@kennycoll just wondering, how is the lense working for you with your 40d? I have a Canon 50d and I am just not sure if I should go with this lense or not. I like the idea of having just one lense for all because, I shoot weddings. Please let me know.
@whoppers1000 I didn't manage to get this one as i ran into some money probs. I got the canon 55-250mm Is, as i needed a lense to put me on an i got it for around half the price sacrificing the wider end. I love the canon lense it's very good value. Although i still would love to get this Tamron lense too at some point though just because of the 18mm end giving so much flexibility.. :0)
@whoppers1000 Don't bring these lenses to a wedding if you are "the photographer".. Weddings are only for professional level lenses. Portraits don't come out nice. If you get one get lens correction, could find on Photoshop, try DXO..I'm using it with DXO, without I would leave these lenses at home..
I have this lens for my D60 Nikon. I love it. The only trouble I have is due to the size of the lens, the pop up flash is useless up close. The lens makes a huge shadow. Either my Nikkor 18-55 lens or Nikon SB600 flash solve that problem.
Why would you showcase this lens in the hands of someone who 1) doesn't know to put a strap the investment and put it around his neck, and 2) know how to hold a camera for maximum stabilization (watch the left hand)? Answer, because this unfortunately is the way the avg new shooter handles a DSLR he knows very little about---often being "too cool" for the strap. Tamron could've easily have portrayed him with a strap and holding the camera with good gripping technique. 2¢
can i use this itself as a binocular? >.<

Maybe he wouldn't need VC if he knew how to hold the camera...

If you don't know how to hold the camera, how can you make a lens review?

Does the lens aperture stay the same through out the entire zoom?

Wow - that's the worst interlacing problem I've seen for a very long time. NEVER shoot interlaced!

I actually got this lens not too long ago, it's pretty impressive, good price, nice quality, and decent weight...bang for the buck
