the highest abv. i've tried was the jewbelation 14 by he'brew. 14% and it was incredible, so rich and flavorful. definitely a beer you have to share with someone

wow, this is one hectic brew! it's so pricey though, how does BD expect to sell this stuff to anyone? anyways, i see you have a bottle of the great divide 17th anniversary oak aged DIPA...just picked up one myself about a week ago, and it is fantastic! can't wait until you get to it!

Congrats on 200! Amusing that it's a Scottish brewery brewing a Russian style beer originally developed to imitate an Irish style beer and then distilling it with a German technique to be drunk by a couple Americans. Craft brewing at it's best.

Great review Chris, the one I had at the Copenhagen beer festival was a completely different beer, since it was based on Tokyo, not Paradox. It had no smoke character what so ever, Jeppe from Evil Twin told me it was shit compared to the original. But souns like a solid brew, or should I say beer liqour. Congrats on 200, hope the next will be just as entertaining. Cheers!

You know, it's kind of weird how some people can drink hard liquor all day like it's their mother's milk but they won't touch a beer that's above 7% ABV, and some others love to drink the strongest, meanest DIPAs or imperial stouts but they can't stomach hard liquor. I'm one of the latter. I'm glad to hear that this beer is more of a beer than hard-liquor (despite being one-third pure ethanol), and therefore it's not a burden for us beer enthusiasts to drink it.

It looks like a Scotch because it IS a Scotch! LOL, Well not really, but I don't consider this a beer. At 64 proof it's practically a liquor. To me, the world's truly strongest beer is the Samichlaus because it's brewed with beer yeast and brewed as a beer. Beers like this are brewed like spirits. They also fail to meet the spirit of the definiton of beer - something you can kick back and enjoy without breaking the bank.

As a novelty beer/spirit hybrid it's certainly an interesting product tho
