the amusing aspect is, that Berger at that time represented the f1 drivers towards f1 mgt and therefore was a major driving force in having the circuit changed at that corner. Since cars had crashed there at alarming speed it was a good thing to do. But Berger just forgot that the course got changed and crashed. that is why the tires die. he brakes too hard. everybody laughed at that back then. he kind of fell in his own trap, you see?
It's hard to said what is to best to do in this time... That an F1, and accident like that happen quick with a street car. But at 0:09, the safer choice for Berger was to go "straight" near the "blue pillow" and try to stop the car... Anyway, he's race was over in booth case.
casi a 400 en una caja zapatos lo veo más que normal, en esos tiempos se conducia y el que no moría , fisichella ralf schumacher y compañia estarian muertos y remuertos.
the lucky aspect was he landed on the grass. Nigel had an accident in Japan 87 where he landed on the lip of the track and put him out for the last two races of 87.
Saw this on ESPN with David Hobbs and Bob Varsha were providing the commentary. David mention that Gerhard needs to get on it to catch the Mclarens in 1st and 2nd. Gerhard has the crash, Without missing a beat, Hobbs dead-pans: "THAT'S IT boy ... give it some stick." Varsha laughed so hard that the initial guffaw blew his tongue against the back of his teeth.
Although Bernie's business skills are unmatchable, he has a keen eye for motor sport too. He will make F1 go to tracks that are safer with a higher chance of revenue, but at the same time he won't let money makers like Monaco and Belgium go out of fashion either. My beef against him is that he gets FOM to take down any extended F1 footage on YouTube - bullshit, how else are we supposed to see olde schoolle footage in full if they won't tupping release it.
Yeah exactly we're not actually taking revenue away from him because it is not released commercially. Its Max Mosley that is bad, Bernie is not quite as bad. But Suzuka was my favourite track so it is really hard to take the fact that Bernie moved it to Fuji.
I 100% agree. Bahrain, Fuji, Sepang, new Hock, I don't like those tracks AT ALL. Turkey is a one-off. Suzuka provides the perfect challenge for driver and team, while Fuji is just a long straight with a bunch of twisty bits.
yeah, nearly all the tracks are shit today. The new hockenheim is a joke. Belgium, Monaco and Silverstone are the only good ones left. I think the situation is really becoming hopeless.
Silverstone has that one shitty chicane before Bridge that sort of wrecks it, as well as me personally favouring Brands Hatch and Donnington more, but it's true, 50 years on and it's still one of the best tracks. It will be a terrible shame if we do lose the British GP - so many good tracks, it will just be a waste if there isn't one.
belgium spa track is not that good either.. eau rouge is too easy. havent seen the new bus-stop yet but I'm guessing its gonna be far more easier than 2005
shame that they wrecked hockenheim it was my fave track... and do not forget to include monza its good too
Yeah I agree and the FIA don't have the balls to sort out Toro Rosso and Super Aguri, the lazy so and so's. I can live with customer cars so long as the 2011 plans don't come in: Stability control and 4WD-whats left for a driver to do? Oh, and 2.4 V6 turbos restricted to a piddling 9,000rpm. A road Honda can rev more than that easily.
Why is the commentator blaming Berger for a tyre failure he could do nothing about? But anyway, Berger was lucky that didnt happen at a higher speed or it could have been worse.
Berger had been straight-lining the chicanes a majority of the time that race, and it was putting severe pressure on the tires, leading them to deflate and fail. Not entirely Berger's fault, but he certainly didn't help the situation.
Yeah, especially now with Michelin pulling out, Bridgestone can focus on just making tough tires that will last. Get to a TV as fast as possible and catch the Monaco qualifying. I hate to wait another 2 hours for it to be shown here (Aus), but it's Monaco, in the wet.
It was an amazing session. Don't worry I message you just as it was coming on. It takes a lot to drag me away from the TV when F1 is on. Devoted for life, unless Max Mosley kills it.
Customer cars will be the worst thing for F1, IMO. They're trying too hard to control it and make it "competitive", virtually making it one make. What makes F1 good is the differences in the cars which give each team different advantages and disadvantage at different tracks - Mosley is just killing any of the spectacle left.
there isn't a sound better than this one from Ferrari V12 engine...
