This includes former roommates, but out of the 100+ people I've met who are into either/both, most are wholly unreliable, untrustworthy, and live vicariously through games. I suppose reality is too frightening if you can't destroy it with a fireball or with The Force...

@TheHoac Original D&D was literally a medieval fantasy based game. Gygax said it himself that it was somewha based on LOTR (usually in terms of chars, like Treeants, halflings, etc). Anyway, tat's the real timeline, and as you said no guns or tanks so they haven't created such sophistication yet.

So the narration opening could mean they're actually from the future of star wars, not a timeline before Earth.
