As Files even says, there were other hit teams there, and he would not be aware of them because they were all on a "need-to-know" basis.
I find it highly unlikely that they would only use one hit team anyway. Mafia men would be good. But they weren't professionals.
They could have used three separate hit teams, although I think there were just two in case one failed or was compromised.

You really need to see the entire James Files (aka Jimmy Sutton) confession. Actually he did two confession tapes separated by several years & his story did not change one bit between the two tapings. It's very compelling.
