Wow I'd be scared that the graft would pop out as soon as you were to let it go. Do you ever use a clamp to temporarily secure the graft to the maxilla?
Im contemplating having this. Ive a bridge where I lost tooth to infection. It destroyed surrounding bone leaving behind a huge hollow. Not a great deal of strength for the adjoining upper right incisor. I think the strength has much to do with the bridge joining the teeth. Not causing problems but something Im considering. Dentist recommends also removing healthy incisor which has plenty of surrounding bone. Just how traumatic is this procedure?
how painful is this surgery during and after? I'm going through this in January and am now scared out of my mind, getting fillings done causes me pain sometimes and this looks like it would scare me for life! Do they also give you any take home pain killers?
This procedure is safe as long as it is performed by a surgical specialist. Because there are different variations, you need to spend some time educating yourself on which particular type of surgery you will have and for exactly what reason. Happy to help you in any way I can. Take your time.....do your homework...
the surgeon is,evidently ,not accustomed to principles of rigid fixation ---he should ve fixed one srrew at a time and drilled a second hole then.i.e after the fixing of first screw. The membrane should ve been larger and i would ve liked a little less handling of the cancellous graft
i have a case like this at the moment - i am wondering whether to extract the UL2 at the time of placing the block - but am worried about not having closure over the block due to the socket. The other alternative is to extract the UL2 and immediate place at the time of placing an implant into the block - but this will give me less flexibility in the soft tissue . how did you find it??
