  • I play this song and "I am Australian, "every day, both songs just pick up my spirits! Thank you Judith (and the Seekers) for re-recording the song Massachusttes, the song was definelty written for you and the Seekers!

  • I would have loved to see Judith sing this song, being able to watch Judith perform a song enhances the appreciation for her adaption of that song, plus hear the song actually sung correctly, Judith can sing any song, and make the song go platinum in the first week! I truly miss her!

  • These clips bring back so many wonderful memories of a time in this country that seems was so better than today. I saw them in concert one time and it was one of my greatest experiences in my life. How I wish we could turn back time.

  • God these clips bring back such wonderful memories of a time in this country where things were so much better. The Seekers music was unique and always beautiful. I lived in the Detroit, Michigan area growing up and they came to Detroit and played at Cobal Hall which was the place then and I got to see them. I'll never forget how wonderful that was.

  • Why do artists dress up i heavy clothes in the studio. They must keep them cold for a reason. Maybe the studios are just a hole in the wall but I would think people of this caliber could be kept warm. And I am talking other big time artists, also wearing coats in the studios.

  • Massachusetts. Beautiful by the fabulous Judith Durham and the Seekers. Where have they gone. Retired I suppose and too early in my view

  • @Dumaguetenonputi - Thank you so much for the clarification - i actually prefer your account much better - thanks again!

  • this song was offered to the Seekers by Maurice Gibb (of the Bee Gees) for them to record. The Seeker's agent rejected it so the Bee Gees performed it instead and ran away with the accolades. The Seekers ultimately recorded it after Maurice passed away as a tribute to their wonderful friend.

  • @santo10forHOF Actually, the Seekers didn't reject it; they had just split when the Bee Gees approached them. Bad timing. It was not long before Maurice died, he met Judith (I think it was Judith - at least, one of the Seekers), and told them they wrote Massachusetts with th Seekers in mind, but had split just before they could reach them.

You can tell though, that Massachusetts was written for them, the Seekers sing it perfectly, and better than the original.

  • @Dumaguetenonputi I don't think The Seekers split at that point. The Bee Gees had the hit in late 1967 (I think?) and The Seekers split in mid 1968.

  • @santo10forHOF Maurice died in 2003, this says recorded in 2002.

  • @cooltooth112 It was recorded in 2003, just after Maurice died.

  • @rich963 I didn't know, I was just going by the year showing 2002 after the title on the other video and song on the one put up by Denny161853. Same exact video. I assumed he was right, but you seem to know the correct year of 2003.

  • Happy birthday, Judith!! July 3, 1943

  • Check out the version of this song by Bee Gees tribute bands Grupo Wer, Tree Gees and Australian Bee Gees.

  • A great version of the Bee Gee's classic!

  • No matter who sang this The Bee Jees or The Seekers it was a great song.

They were both heart warming. Love It. Sir David

  • What a marvellous angelic voice. Thank you for posting this fantastic song sung by the very talented Judith Durham. Dr. Leow

  • "Massachusetts" was a truly great recording by the Bee Gees, in my opinion, but this Seekers version tops it. Judith Durham's beautiful vocals is enough to bring a tear to your eye, as ever. Anything she sings seems touched by the hand of god!.

  • @hotwok19 The Bee Gees actually wrote it for them, but decided against playing it to the Seekers as they didn't think they'd want to record it!!!

  • @thereisfear Just a little more info! The Seekers finally recorded it after Maurice Gibb's death in 2003, as a tribute to him.

  • Hey Marklyons11 you can get this song on The Seekers the ultimate collection released 2003 its available on amazon good luck and long live the seekers

  • Thanks for you're help

  • Is that a box set or import? It's not on The Ultimate Collection CD I have but that was released 2008 I think.

  • This video and song is fantastic I have been trying to find the song but I can't find it

  • wat een geweldige stem en wat een prachtvrouw

  • Was this recorded in 1993 or 1997, possibly I made a mistake earlier?

  • Very Cool!

  • Love It! ... Thank You

  • Lovely Judith really puts her heart into this song.

Not a voice like hers .

Judith Durham we will love you forever . David

  • Judith's voice sure can bring a tear to the eye's. Nothing can compare to it

  • At least The Seekers got to record this, albeit 25 years too late. Imagine them singing it in the 60's...

  • The song was definitely written for the Seekers but I think it was their manager who turned it down without running it past the group. It was only years later that Robin met Judith and told her of that disastrous decision. The reformed group released this "cover" in memory of Maurice.

  • Massachusetts was originally written for The Seekers. Maurice never got the chance to give it to them to record.

  • How about Judith singing a duet of this song with Robin Gibb ... WOW, what a great sound that would be!!!!!!!! Judith just captures your heart. Funny, how some of the most talented performers consider themselves deficient, somehow, and forever struggle to be accepted ... there's no doubt Judith's accepted, even loved ... I'm sure she realizes that now ... I just love her sound.

  • Perhaps I belong to the same generation of The Seekers' admirers around the world who were just content listening to their beautiful music through radio,

cassette tape, or CD. Now we have an amazing opportunity to see The Seekers performing live in different video footages. Footages that most of us thought

never existed. These videos allow this generation to know The Seekers. And for us, to rediscover and appreciate The Seekers' soothing and uplifting songs. Thanks to posters n Youtube!

  • who are the other two.

  • Judy, and Judith Durham

  • its what veal said there are 2 others because he said she is one of the three best . just wondering who they are

  • Outside of opera, Judith in my opinion had one of the three best voices of the 20th century. Ane her personality may be the best of any female music star.

  • beautiful rendition Judith. Love your voice.

  • Australia's best vocalist and of course one of the worlds best vocalists.

  • No matter how many times i listen to Judith Durham and the seekers I can never get over the power of Judith's beautiful voice, no matter what song it may be.

    David......

  • So very glad this is back. I, too, bought Seekers' CDs because it re-ignited my appreciation for Judith and this great group!

  • I couldn't believe David's channel was suspended, after 200+ Seekers uploads. I had been watching and enjoying his videos from the beginning. I found out the Seekers had re-united from David and bought three Seekers DVDs because of him. The power of free advertising that YouTube provides.

I am glad you are re-posting some of David's videos. (David: We miss you!)

  • Copywrite issues with Warners. A few upload's showed time frames indicating they were tv studio recordings. The idiots removed everything of David's for this reason. Sales of Seekers material must have increased because of Youtube..........just doesn't make sense.

  • Sales DID increase, I bought the 5 CD set 7 the one featuring "Far Shores" etc. Warners are about as short-sighted & stupid as our politicians, & ARE THEY STUPID!!!!

More power to you from a grateful fan.

  • @janmarsh Lawyers whose performance should be reviewed just like everyone else's, i.e. how much their work contributes to REVENUE. Bizarre, but true, they justify their pathetic existence by eliminating statistically irrelevant "risk." Idiots.

  • @janmarsh Yes that really Sucks! When you are alone and feeling down a good seekers song with lovely Judith's voice brings a smile to your heart.

    Thanks Sir David

  • @janmarsh But the seekers are owned by EMI records so I try to get copyrights for all my clips if I can.

  • @janmarsh Lawyers do their best to justify their pathetic existence based on fear, not demonstrable logic, or in this case, profitability.

  • Your experience reveals the complete idiocy of copywrite enforcement as it's practiced by neanderthal attorneys today. They actually PREVENT income and charge a bundle for their profit-hurting services. Truly parasites.

  • thanks a lot for re-storing this great song of a great time!
