If you own a miniDV camera or camcorder with audio and video inputs & outputs (or firewire output) then you should be ok without a professional DV converter. Simply go from your Xbox into the camera (set to VTR or playback mode) then send the signal out from the camera to your computer via firewire. If you occur problems i would suggest keeping your editing software's capture window open while troubleshooting. I have found this to give me immediate results and saves lots of time & headaches.

My way:

You need a DV converter in order to digitize the material from your Xbox into your computer. I simply played the game and digitized the footage in replay mode once I landed the tricks I wanted. The DV converter I used is a Canopus ADVC100 via firewire 400 straight into my PC. Then, all you need is a video card capable of playing back the video resolution and some editing software. I used Adobe Premier, but would have prefered to cut on an Avid Media Composer :P
