So now, let's review some key verses. In no particular order: 2nd Peter 2:18-22, 3:17, Luke 8:13, Hebrews 3:12-14, 6:4-6, 10:26-27, 10:36-39, James 5:19-20, Galatians 5:13, 1st Corinthians 10:12,Revelations 2:16, 3:3, 3;16.
To {practice} sin means to repeat or do again. So even if you choose to use the word {practice}, anyone who sin occasionally is of the Devil as 1 John 3:8 says. We must understand that God isn't confined to (time) like we are, so if you sin once a year, to God this is still a [HABITUAL pattern] as many call it to continue in their sin less then they use too lifestyle. How about embracing the wonderful command of of our Messiah, "Go and sin {no more}", trusting in His Grace to perfect us, amen.
@HolySpiritDwells I'm afraid that I can't see it your way for 2 reasons. 1) Practice means a lifestyle like a doctor practices medicine ... a continuing lifestyle of sin is like regularly getting drunk, as opposed to a one off event. 2) 1 John 1:8 tells us that if we claim to be without sin then we deceive ourself. If your definition was correct then all mankind is of the devil. The verb for 'sin' in John 8:11 is present tense - Jesus told her that she must stop practicing sin. God bless, Mick
I say good video, it just needs God's plan of salvation according to Acts 2:38. This is the way the church got started and the Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans all came the same way. Acts 2:4, 2:38, 10:44--48, 19:1-6, Mark 16:16, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Galatians 3:27, Ephesians 4:5-6. 1 Peter 3:21. One can't escape baptism of the water and spirit. There's no sinner's prayer in the Bible. We have to come the way God set up on Pentecost. The Bibleway is the only way. man can't change it.

@christianissues My post says "when we sin we just have to repent....". This is not 'continuing in sin'?Personally I think it is a life-long journey & the more like Jesus we become, the more aware we are of our sinful ways & his amazing grace which accepts us just as we are all in our big mess. @RemiEsther@RemiEsther Hello. Repenting is what we must do in response to the Spirit's conviction. I have yet to meet someone who does not sin from time to time. If you don't repent when the Spirit convicts you then you will die according to Rom 8:12-14. We all sin, 1 John 1:8, and all need to confess as it says in 1 John 1:9. @DictatorStatus ..an innocent man who is also fully God. The matter of sin had to be dealt with. Sin separates us from God. God found a way to get us back. Putting all our sin on Jesus & punishing him instead. In exchange we receive right-standing & total acceptance from God. He did this for one reason only: He loves us. "For God so loved the world that he sent his only son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not die but have eternal life" (John 3:16)
@RemiEsther - are you saying that Jesus became a vile sinner in our place? and my second question is.... does that mean we have permission to sin now becuase sin was already dealt with?
VERY GOOD MY DEAR BROTHER!! We must repent and have faith ,both are needed.Acts says 'repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus." Finding a church that preaches biblical holiness is like finding a needle in a haystack.God bless you.Bro.David.
Yes, it's sad how the churches are running on good feelings, looking for highs etc. They need to look to the feeling of conviction coming from the Spirit and to get right with God then they will have the wonderful inner feeling of peace with God ... there is no feeling or 'high' greater.
Matthew 7:22,23 states that good works will not get you into Heaven, and saying that Baptism is not a work because we can never be good enough for God is pure dogma that the Bible doesn't support. In Matthew 7:21 it teaches that by doing the will of the Father (God) is How to be saved. John 6:40 teaches the will of God, is to believe on Jesus. The word believe means to trust. Trust God to save you is how to be saved, nothing else. And by trusting God you have repented, you have realized...
that your a guilty sinner in the eyes of God and have turned to God (Changed your mind about being a sinner), to be saved, which is true repentance as defined in the Greek Concordance for the Bible. Putting your faith in God means you have realized your a guilty sinner (repenting) and trusting God for Salvation. Thats all that is to it, trusting God for Salvation and nothing else. And thus, according to John 6:40 (God), you have fulfilled the will of God, and are saved. Not by Good works.
Rom. 8:12-13 tells Christians that if they live according to their sinful nature then they will die ... go to hell. We are given the Spirit to enable us to live a holy life as without holiness no one will see the Lord .... sinning is not holiness, neither before we are saved nor after. The wages of sin is always death so if we don't repent of sin after being saved then we will be lost. I have a video called Salvaion Part 1 which shows this. God bless, Mick
Roman's Chapter 8 is speaking of the spiritual "life" of the believer, not his salvation. 1st Timothy 5:6 puts the chapter into light, "But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth." She was living carnally, her spiritual relationship, eg. life with God was dead, but her Salvation was there, "...while she liveth." She was still on her way to Heaven, undoubtley to an unpleased God but still in Heaven. Hebrews 13:5, "...for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
Rom. 8:12-13 start out saying "brothers", that is Christians, and it says that they will die if they fail to live according to the Spirit. Die means to be sent to hell and is the opposite of live in v.13. These two verses give a simple comparision ... living according to the sinful nature will result in hell and living according to the Spirit will result in heaven. Whenever death is mentioned in relation to sin it always means hell. God bless, Mick
Yes, I fully understand the Brethen part. 1st Timothy 5:6 states, "But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth." A believer who goes into sin, i.e. walks in the flesh, cannot please God, but Romans 8:10 still reads, "And if Christ be in you, the body is dead, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." Jonah walked in the flesh but was still alive (saved) and so did The Church at Corinth, they both were alive - even though they ran from God, commited, sin, eg. fornication.
You still need to look closer at Rom 8:12-13. You would agree that if you live according to the Spirit, you will live, right? and live means eternal life - we agree on this. However, the verses also say that if you don't live according to the Spirit, you will die ... we know this is not talking about physical death but spiritual death - when you're spiritually dead, you're on your way to hell. Whenever the Bible mentions death and sin, death means hell ... to say otherwise is to twist the Word.
Ephesians 2:8-9 reads that Salvation is by Grace, not by good-works, and that it is a gift from God. You have to trust Christ to take you to Heaven and your there - you can't lose it by sinning, because then it wouldn't be a gift! Hebrews 13:5 says that God will never leave or abandon you - so no matter how much you will Sin God will not leave you. Romans 4:5 explains that good works will not get you into Heaven, and that your faith is counted as righteousness, not your works...
So you cannot loose your Salvation by sinning, it is contrary to Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 13:5, Romans 4:5, 1st Timothy 5:6, and countless other scriptures. What God is talking about in Romans 8:12-13 is the Spiritual Relationship between you and God, the word "death" in the Romans verse can also mean dry/rot. Your relationship with God may dry a little, but your Salvation can never be lost and you can always improve your relationship with God by walking in the Spirit.
Hello Jardenix, not one verse you quoted says that you cannot lose your salvation but if you watch my video called Salvation Part 4 then you will see many which say that a saved soul can be lost. I can give many more also if you like. God bless, Mick
But is Salvation a gift that you are forced to accept? No, otherwise, God would be violating our free will, which He allows us. That gift can and sadly too often is returned when people fall away into a life of sin as Demas did when he abandoned Paul in the gospel work.
But read 1 Corinthians 10:12. "Therefore, let him who stands, take heed, lest he fall."
Also, read Hebrews 3:12, 6:4-6 and 10:26-27. They all talk about the danger of falling away & losing our salvation.
@Bosingr The Corinthians verse doesn't really make a point. Hebrews 3:12 specifically says people who are in unbelief - the verse is speaking of the unsaved. People who know how to be saved and understand the truth but fall away. Hebrews 10:26-27 are saying simply that Jesus is the only way to salvation, (another verse like it is Galations 5:4), and if you sinfully reject that, then there is no more hope for you unless you turn back (repent) and trust Jesus.
@Jardenix Heb 3:12 is referring to "the heart that falls away from the living God.
In the International Bible Commentary by F.F. Bruce, it says that when the person falls away by neglecting worship & fellowship with other Christians, unbelief eventually spreads within...There is no longer the submission which he professed at first when he was baptized.
The best test Bruce explains is this question: "Do we hold firmly to the end the confidence(in Christ) we had at first?" p.1512.
@Bosingr If unbelief spreads within then you weren't saved in the first place because you never believed in the first place, you cannot undo salvation. Salvation is of God, not man (Jonah 2:9). And you are sealed with the Holy Spirit upon receiving salvation, to seal means, " place beyond doubt" and " set a mark upon of a seal or a stamp" (Ephesians 1:13). 1st Samuel 16:7, "...for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
@Bosingr Hi, H3:12 was referring to Jews who were professed believers, meaning that they may have had doubts about the New Testament revelation of Jesus Christ, its a warning to Jews to not reject the new testament, to have an evil heart of unbelief. To find the correct meaning of the verse, you have to rightly divide the scriptures against each other. Hebrews 4:2 explains the verse, saying that the gospel was preached to the Jews, but didn't profit them, they chose not to believe.
@Jardenix more on the part of the verse, "but the word preached did not profit them". It means that the Jews didn't find anything important or redeeming in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It literally didn't do anything for them, so they chose to reject it.
@Jardenix The writer to the Hebrew believers was warning them, yes, to not fall away as others had, including their ancestors in the OT, but that warning is to all Christians as well, considering the many references the apostle Paul made to his readers to not fall away, to instead keep the faith.
@Jardenix Take a look at these verses in Hebrews 4, including v.6. Those people had failed to enter because of disobedience and then he follows that up with "Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts," echoing the words of David. He's warning people to not make the mistake of people in the past who fell away. Consider, Jesus' warning to the 7 churches in Revelation 2:16 for instance or 3:3 or 3:16. He is coming and people whose hearts are no longer with Him are in big trouble.
@Bosingr It seems like your ignoring the past scriptures I have posted. Hebrews 4:6 agrees with Hebrews 4:2, The Jews HEARD the Gospel, but didn't "mix" faith with it, they decided that Christianity wasn't something for them."...To whom it was first preached" (the Gospel to the Jews), "entered not because of unbelief." They never believed in the first place. The Bible is clearly speaking of the unsaved. They were enlightened, but fell from grace, they rejected the Gospel, Hebrews 6:4-9.
@Jardenix The Revelation scriptures weren't speaking of churches who had "fell away", they were speaking to churches that were tolerant of sin and had a lack of genuine faith in the Gospel.
@Jardenix Those churches had become churches because at least at one time they had believed in Jesus and obeyed the Gospel. Remember that Jeses did praise them for some things they had done, but warned them, particularly one church of becoming lukewarm. They were in danger of becoming like those various seeds that fell onto the ground by the sower in Jesus parable(Luke 8:13).
@Bosingr Luke 8:13 talks about Believers who heard and believed the word, but show nothing for it. In times of testing and persecution they chose to hide their profession of faith from others, (Matthew 13:20-21). John 12:42-43 speaks of believers who did this, but were still saved.
@Jardenix Luke 8:13 “Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.” Jesus speaking there. Catch that part at the end of the sentence about “…they fall away.” ?
@Bosingr I think you misunderstand what falling from grace means. In Galatians 5:1-4 Paul speaks of falling from grace, people who rejected the Gospel. It never spoke of people who decided to just quit believing in the Gospel, if you do you were never a believer in the first place. In Romans 10:13 God promises to anyone who believes on Jesus' name is saved...
@Jardenix ... In John 12:42-43, the words, "many believed on him", mean they were saved. In John 5:24, it says, "...believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.".
The church in Galatians and the multiple church's in Revelation had unbelievers, who fell from grace because they rejected the only way to heaven, the Gospel. in Hebrews 13:5 says that God will never forsake any of His children.
@Jardenix I've heard that argument before. You don't think any of those people actually believed in the first place? Like Demas for instance, Paul's fellow missionary who once worked with him, but Paul said "has forsaken me having loved this present world"(2nd Timothy 4:10)? Or the people Jesus was alluding to in His Parable Of The Sower? They never believed in the first place? They rejected the Gospel? That's not what it says.
Every indication is they did believe. For a while...
@Bosingr Luke 8:14 fits perfectly with Demas, "...which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection." He was saved, but brought no fruit to perfection - he didn't work to lay up treasures in Heaven, 1st Corinthians 3:8.
@Jardenix No proof from what Paul actually said that Demas was saved. Hence why Paul seemed so disappointed that Demas had fallen back into the love of this present world instead of keeping his eyes on the real prize-Heaven in the presence of God for all eternity. Our choice is temporary earthly pleasures or eternal and indescribable bliss with God. Unless Demas repented, and it's never recorded if he did, he made the eternally wrong choice.
@Jardenix ...But a while doesn't count. First, you must begin the journey down that narrow path, but what's even more important is how you end the journey.
Paul said "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith"(2ndTimothy 4:7). That is what is needed.
@Jardenix Matthew 13:20-21 “The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.” Same last 2 words there too.
@Jardenix John 12:42-43 “Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” Where does it say in those verses that they were still saved? What it does say is that they put more importance on getting praise from men then from God.
Baptism is not a work because we can never be good enough for God. We need His grace.
What baptism IS is obedience. After all, why would you not want to obey God and show your love for Him by doing what Jesus commanded and said was necessary? IF you truly want to please Him and be saved.
Yes, I agree with you entirely. I have a little video called Baptism and also a series of four videos called Salvation Parts 1-4 which show that obedience is necessary for salvation.
If being born again makes you a better person why is it that even the studies funded by christian institutions show no statistical differences in social indicators between evangelicals and the average population? Being born again and convincing yourself to believe in supernatural idols may have a benefit for some. But as a general rule it's best not to depend on superstitions and magic daddies to make you a better person because in the real world, It doesn't.
You are dead right, the statistics show no difference. The problem with the statistics is that they assume that all the people in church are born again. I heard of a survey that said, in Australia, about 5% go to church but only 10% of them are saved (born again). This means that only 0.5% of Australians are actually born again. That is only 1 in 200. I'm sure you know many churchgoers who are still in sin.
Many in today's Churches are lukewarm unfortunately. They go to Church and then go right back to living the way the world lives. Only a small percentage of people are truly born again as mentioned above.
OSAS lie. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch...and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Mat 5:19-20 is talking about false/erroneous teachers leading people astray like 2 Pet 2. Rev 21:27 says that nothing impure will enter heaven and all sin is impurity. Salvation from sin is simply living a repentant life and walking in holiness through the power of the Spirit. See my video The Holy Spirit. 1 John 2:1-2 tells us we might sin and 1 John 1:9 is the answer to forgiveness.
Lusting is coveting forbidden things. Spouses bodies belong to each other.
1. Did Jesus really save us from sin? According to Jesus Mat 5:18-20, the laws from which Jesus purportedly saved us still apply in full, and we cannot enter heaven if we break a single one.
2. As you pointed out, Jesus also states that God will forgive these sins if you call on Jesus.
3. Claims 1 and 2 cannot both be true. Jesus is lying to you in one or both places.
4. Do you really think lust is evil? If it weren't for lust, you would not exist.

3. Confess your sins to God
4. Repent or turn away from those sins, change your way of living.
5. Baptism

But even after we do those things, we have to stay on the right & yes, narrow path(Matthew 7:13-14) and not backslide and fall away. Also, Romans 6.

Jardenix 2 years ago
So you cannot loose your Salvation by sinning, it is contrary to Ephesians 2:8-9, Hebrews 13:5, Romans 4:5, 1st Timothy 5:6, and countless other scriptures. What God is talking about in Romans 8:12-13 is the Spiritual Relationship between you and God, the word "death" in the Romans verse can also mean dry/rot. Your relationship with God may dry a little, but your Salvation can never be lost and you can always improve your relationship with God by walking in the Spirit.
Jardenix 2 years ago
Hello Jardenix, not one verse you quoted says that you cannot lose your salvation but if you watch my video called Salvation Part 4 then you will see many which say that a saved soul can be lost. I can give many more also if you like. God bless, Mick

@Jardenix
Bosingr 1 year ago
@Bosingr The Corinthians verse doesn't really make a point. Hebrews 3:12 specifically says people who are in unbelief - the verse is speaking of the unsaved. People who know how to be saved and understand the truth but fall away. Hebrews 10:26-27 are saying simply that Jesus is the only way to salvation, (another verse like it is Galations 5:4), and if you sinfully reject that, then there is no more hope for you unless you turn back (repent) and trust Jesus.
Jardenix 2 months ago

Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix more on the part of the verse, "but the word preached did not profit them". It means that the Jews didn't find anything important or redeeming in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It literally didn't do anything for them, so they chose to reject it.
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix The writer to the Hebrew believers was warning them, yes, to not fall away as others had, including their ancestors in the OT, but that warning is to all Christians as well, considering the many references the apostle Paul made to his readers to not fall away, to instead keep the faith.
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Bosingr Where are your scriptures to back that up?
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix Take a look at these verses in Hebrews 4, including v.6. Those people had failed to enter because of disobedience and then he follows that up with "Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts," echoing the words of David. He's warning people to not make the mistake of people in the past who fell away. Consider, Jesus' warning to the 7 churches in Revelation 2:16 for instance or 3:3 or 3:16. He is coming and people whose hearts are no longer with Him are in big trouble.
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Bosingr It seems like your ignoring the past scriptures I have posted. Hebrews 4:6 agrees with Hebrews 4:2, The Jews HEARD the Gospel, but didn't "mix" faith with it, they decided that Christianity wasn't something for them."...To whom it was first preached" (the Gospel to the Jews), "entered not because of unbelief." They never believed in the first place. The Bible is clearly speaking of the unsaved. They were enlightened, but fell from grace, they rejected the Gospel, Hebrews 6:4-9.
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix The Revelation scriptures weren't speaking of churches who had "fell away", they were speaking to churches that were tolerant of sin and had a lack of genuine faith in the Gospel.
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix Those churches had become churches because at least at one time they had believed in Jesus and obeyed the Gospel. Remember that Jeses did praise them for some things they had done, but warned them, particularly one church of becoming lukewarm. They were in danger of becoming like those various seeds that fell onto the ground by the sower in Jesus parable(Luke 8:13).
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Bosingr Luke 8:13 talks about Believers who heard and believed the word, but show nothing for it. In times of testing and persecution they chose to hide their profession of faith from others, (Matthew 13:20-21). John 12:42-43 speaks of believers who did this, but were still saved.
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix Luke 8:13 “Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.” Jesus speaking there. Catch that part at the end of the sentence about “…they fall away.” ?
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Bosingr I think you misunderstand what falling from grace means. In Galatians 5:1-4 Paul speaks of falling from grace, people who rejected the Gospel. It never spoke of people who decided to just quit believing in the Gospel, if you do you were never a believer in the first place. In Romans 10:13 God promises to anyone who believes on Jesus' name is saved...
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix ... In John 12:42-43, the words, "many believed on him", mean they were saved. In John 5:24, it says, "...believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.".
The church in Galatians and the multiple church's in Revelation had unbelievers, who fell from grace because they rejected the only way to heaven, the Gospel. in Hebrews 13:5 says that God will never forsake any of His children.
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix I've heard that argument before. You don't think any of those people actually believed in the first place? Like Demas for instance, Paul's fellow missionary who once worked with him, but Paul said "has forsaken me having loved this present world"(2nd Timothy 4:10)? Or the people Jesus was alluding to in His Parable Of The Sower? They never believed in the first place? They rejected the Gospel? That's not what it says.
Every indication is they did believe. For a while...
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Bosingr Luke 8:14 fits perfectly with Demas, "...which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection." He was saved, but brought no fruit to perfection - he didn't work to lay up treasures in Heaven, 1st Corinthians 3:8.
Jardenix 1 month ago
@Jardenix No proof from what Paul actually said that Demas was saved. Hence why Paul seemed so disappointed that Demas had fallen back into the love of this present world instead of keeping his eyes on the real prize-Heaven in the presence of God for all eternity. Our choice is temporary earthly pleasures or eternal and indescribable bliss with God. Unless Demas repented, and it's never recorded if he did, he made the eternally wrong choice.
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Jardenix ...But a while doesn't count. First, you must begin the journey down that narrow path, but what's even more important is how you end the journey.
Paul said "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith"(2ndTimothy 4:7). That is what is needed.
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Jardenix Matthew 13:20-21 “The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.” Same last 2 words there too.
Bosingr 1 month ago
@Jardenix John 12:42-43 “Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” Where does it say in those verses that they were still saved? What it does say is that they put more importance on getting praise from men then from God.

1. Hear
2. Believe
3. Confess your sins to God
4. Repent or turn away from those sins, change your way of living.
5. Baptism
Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:35-39,...
Baptism is not a work because we can never be good enough for God. We need His grace.
What baptism IS is obedience. After all, why would you not want to obey God and show your love for Him by doing what Jesus commanded and said was necessary? IF you truly want to please Him and be saved.
Bosingr 2 years ago
Yes, I agree with you entirely. I have a little video called Baptism and also a series of four videos called Salvation Parts 1-4 which show that obedience is necessary for salvation.

If being born again makes you a better person why is it that even the studies funded by christian institutions show no statistical differences in social indicators between evangelicals and the average population? Being born again and convincing yourself to believe in supernatural idols may have a benefit for some. But as a general rule it's best not to depend on superstitions and magic daddies to make you a better person because in the real world, It doesn't.
crossoldman 2 years ago

In reply to Captain42x -
Mat 5:19-20 is talking about false/erroneous teachers leading people astray like 2 Pet 2.
Spouses bodies belong to each other.
christianissues 3 years ago
A number of things:
