  • Check my video i made him in 3d watch?v=4EkTlDZ538o

  • very nice!

  • waait how did u get the model from blizzard?

  • @dranoel1963 I pulled it from the game files using wowmodelviewer and Milkshape, but it has been years since I have messed with it. I am not sure the model viewer is still available or working.

  • @RayKoefoed wasnt the wowmodelviewer only for VIEW the models?

  • @dranoel1963 When I made this, wowmodelviewer had an export option for the models, but it was only in Milkshape format at that time. I am not sure about now, but there is bound to be ways to draw the models out of the game files. Sorry I don't know more information to help you with it.

  • @RayKoefoed well i coud always make the model in maya...but i cant add textures ;(

  • @dranoel1963 It does still work, btw. :)

  • @dranoel1963 wow model vieers still exist and can still be exported to various 3d softwares

  • @dranoel1963 wow model viewer still works all u need is wow fully patched XD

  • @arabaggins

if you got the model out

    can you share it :)

idont wana DL the game to get the model XD

  • Any one know how to export the animation? to 3ds max via FBX?

  • He sounds like he's reciting Shakespeare, or something. His voice just gets softer and softer. I'm no pro, but it doesn't seem like Illidan talks like that.

  • Иллидан кайфовый тип )

  • that's a bad voice for Illidan. it's a normal voice with a simple pitch modify to it...

  • @DBZenith Its nice to know you dont have an opinion on the actual animation.

  • @Jas0nLL Why would you care?

  • @DBZenith It's not that I dont care. It's that you had nothing to say on the animation. Just sayin'.

  • Hey, how did you rig a wow model so you can move its mouth?

i use a biped to rig my models using physic(vertex), and that doesn't allow joints for the mouth of the model :/

  • dude ure the man !

  • amazingggggggggggg

    the voice it's so coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

  • that was soo cool

  • Everything is Great except the face i think u made his face too big and with a lot of muscles

he look too much like vampire

im not sure that's what i think

  • @tiduos That would be Blizzards work, not mine. I only rigged the model and modified the texture a little. The model itself is strait from WoW.

  • @RayKoefoed Wow dude... XD im sorry so everything is perfect...

gaahd... i didn't play WoW so long :O

  • @tiduos I haven't played it for a long time either.

The game models look pretty good in the game, but they are obviously not the best in a 3D program. Very low poly. If this had been something I wanted to pursue, I would have surely smoothed and improved the models.

This was just me wasting some time.

  • @RayKoefoed the models ingame are that poly bcuz its to much things that have to load at the time, a FULL "hd" game will be to heavy to load if they do it correctly...

  • @RayKoefoed oh oops i misread ur comment there, sorry nvm:3

  • @RayKoefoed how you get the model from WoW into 3ds?

  • @rickyjshiznit I exported it from wowmodelviewer (if that software is still available and still works). I then used Milkshape to convert it to a format for 3DS. I then had to rig it with bones in 3DS.

Check out iwkya1 channel. He has done some great tutorials on this kind of thing.

  • @tiduos if you dont know blizz you talk smack about them once you hear hey blizz made it you suddenly " OMFG ITS PERFECT GAWD IZ AWSOME !!!! ......

  • illidan GO SE EYE DOCTOR ALREADY!!!

  • too bad you didnt get the fire eyes effect

  • can u send me the 3d model please? i'l be glad

  • your model is AWESOME

  • isen't that whats his phrase from 300?

  • Check out my other videos. You should be glad to know I have spent a lot more time making videos with HL2 then I spent on this.

  • Cool - You should check out my tutorial on how to make and import models from 3DS Max into Source, if you don't know how to do so already lol.

  • That's beautiful. I didn't even know you could do that that with WoW.

    5/5 Subscribed.

  • Sorry i am having trouble hearing what he is saying. if someone could tell me

  • He says "Even now you are defiant, in the face of annihilation, in the presence of a god."

I apologize for the low quality of the audio in this. I was just messing around testing the model, I wasn't making it with the intent on sharing it. I didn't want to just delete it after all the time I put into rendering it though.

  • Thank you, thats ok I made this a fav because just seemed to cool not to be.

  • the audio sounds awesome...how did you do that?

  • i am a WOW nerd and illidan is one of my fave chars. so

    5/5

  • lmao a nerd

  • I rate 5, cuz i love Illidan, and it is a GREAT animation!

  • Hmmmmm........

    AWESOME!5 STAR FROM ME!:D

  • Audio from 300 lulzenzor

  • honestly learing modeling like this can take more than 3 years. because its not easy as u think.

  • He means to learn to use high end 3D software.

  • Low-poly modeling doesn't take 3 years, with proper training and teacher and not having an ego (ie - starting with a clean slate) you can rather easily model at a professional level within a matter of weeks. You MUST have an eye for detail and how deep detail can go. Now texturing on the other hand I will say requires several months of rigorous, intensive training to learn, as you must actually know how to paint well, and that is before knowing Photoshop manipulation techniques for layers.

  • but if u really want a master piece u really need more time than 1 week..

  • I agree, definitely, however it should be pointed out that the only difference between a professional and an ameteur is time. What a professional can pull off in a day, an ameteur can theoretically pull off the same thing in a longer period as long as they have enough time to make some mistakes and correct themselves, while a professional simply has gone through those mistakes before. Basically an ameteur with the right mindset and passion essentially is a professional, just a matter of time.

  • You forgot the fact that a professional does this for his living. Hence the term professional, as his profession. You can still be a very bad professional.

You actually can't compare amateur with professional, because a professional has nothing to do with skill.

  • True enough. Technically yes, "professionals" can suck as well, but in an artistic industry, that's very rarely the case while still being called professional. I guess my connotation of the word was someone good enough to be worth emulating, and these people usually have jobs in the industry.

So for clarification, my use of "professional" means highly skilled or experienced. My statements remain unchanged though with the adjusted context.

  • Ok :-)

  • I completely agree with you. I have learned (the hard way) why it takes crews of many people to make a decent CG movie like the ones that Pixar makes.

I remember seeing the Final Fantasy: Advent Children movie and thinking that I wanted to produce something that good by myself, at home, on my PC that barley met the requirements for my old version of 3DS Max.

This video is about as far as I got before realizing what a major project something like that is.

  • Well, the good news is that is possible, but will take nothing short of years. With the advent of ZBrush and the workflow between the packages, you can now do things like Blur Studios movies yourself. They did one of the Warhammer trailers in a month, which is mindboggling how they achieved that, but proof positive that a medium sized team can assemble such a thing. Once I learn more effects, I will be animating my own music videos. A more reasonable timeframe than full-length movies.

  • nicely! u can modelling!!

  • seriúsly you guys shouldnt use wow models for animation they are super low poly

  • not if you use the smooth tool on them haha, but high poly is a pain in the ass to work with anyways

  • Yeah, things like Turbosmooth/Meshsmooth are like the last effects that you apply before the actual rendering.

  • other than the animation nothing is original

  • nice 5/5

  • Nice 5/5. Can youdo that with the Lich King? It would be so cool if u can

  • nice 5/5

  • his finger looks like its broken lol

  • Very nice animation :)

  • My rogue has a warglaive! ;)

  • freaking eeepppiiiccc!!!

  • eppppppppppicccccccccccccccccccc

  • el oh el

  • That was awsome lol

  • Dood Amazing. I just graduated 3danimaton and Visual effects from VFS (Vancouver Film School) I wanna get into this kinda stuff. low poly modeling. Did you use and Zbrush or is this all texture painting? btw. Really nice job. Keep it comin.

  • Thanks Cptsnuggles. I used the model taken strait from the game and rigged it with biped and skin in max. I reworked the texture maps in photoshop.

By the way, I have watched tons of demo reels by students from VFS and almost all of them have been amazing. That must be a terrific school.

  • real cool i would love to see your music incorporated into something like this. wow is right.

  • Nice dude ,but sound fail :)

  • You're right, it isn't very good. I didn't intend on this being anything more then a test render, but I thought it was at least worth sharing.

  • Very nice, I'm on the verge of attempting a similar Machinima in 3DS Max 2009, I just need to get Milkshape 3D. I need to know exactly how you lip-synced his model though, because as far as I know most WoW models had closed mouths and therefore could not be lipsynced... maybe Illidan is the exception because he actually talks (or maybe I just haven't looked closely enough).

  • I use the Morph Modifier. I copy the model, alter the mouth to the new position and use that model as a Morph target for the original. I do it a few times to define things like smile, frown, pucker, etc. I then animate it best I can to match the audio. I have 3D Studio Max 4.2, I learned to do it from the tutorial in the help files for it, but just typed in google 3ds max tutorial morph target and saw a bunch of good links on the first page, even some YouTube videos. Hope this helps.

  • cool, i wanna make 1 =D

  • Hey, thanks for adding my import wow models to max tutorial to your links ----> I liked your illidan man, keep experimenting, iv'e been messing with the illidan model to. I made the thin part of the wings into 3dsmax cloth and used hair and fur to give him some proper hair lol./ Not rigged yet though. :)

  • NP iwkya1, thanks for helping me with my questions. That sounds great what you are doing with the model. I have an old version of max, before hair and cloth. It has reactor cloth, but that is extremely impractical for anything very complex, especially when there is other animation modifiers like morph. Good luck. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

  • wow this is nice.

  • there's also truespace which is now free since it was bought by microsoft, and there's softimage's modtool which is like a not-too-crippled and very usable XSI :)

  • really nice but do you have a tutorial for making the lip syncing in 3ds max?

  • Most impressive. I worked a bit in 3D myself, though a long time ago, and understand better than most what actually makes what we see.

I didn't see anything goofy about it (with the exception of the 300 dialog :P)...

So you intend to do WOW machinima? Hm... maybe you'll lose me there. Never cared for WOW much. Though, I can't really say anything in advance, can I?

I run a machinima my self... well... sorta. A graphic novel. And animated machinima is something that I really admire.

  • great job dude yea im still working on my animations it's hard but just got to keep on doing it right 5/5

  • this is awesome can't wait to see the full thing
