:-) Yes, try it! And trust that your body and brain will figure it out. I've bumped myself a few times (or more!) when hooping, but that's part of the process of learning. Good luck!
Hi Wendy. This is my sister in the vid, so I can't speak for her, but I learned the trick, too. Learning a trick is not often so much a matter of time as it is the body first understanding how to do it. Sometimes that can happen in just a few minutes. Once The Body knows what to do, then the grace of the move is what gets better in time. Does that make sense?
I'm a 37 y/o mom of 4 & a beginner at this. I have made my own hoops, thanks so much for your time on these videos. I am studying & practicing from them ---BIG ThANKS!! Awesome videos.

i have more experience as a groove hooper with a bigger hoop. mine is a bit above my belly button. but brecken77 and others are rockin' the smaller hoops.
my daughter is 9 and has just got a hula hoop. thanks for instruction. maybe she will be able to copy you ( i won't ! already she is MUCH better than I am)
A heavy, adult-size hoop makes a world of difference. A good basic hoop for most folk is 42 inches in diameter, 3/4 inch tubing made of 160 or 200 psi strength irrigation tubing. If you have access to both a heavy and a light hoop, I'd be happy to hear about your experience and success with this trick.
O Realli! Well I Have a Light Hoop - uno one of the cheap ones and its hard 2 keep up on my waist whereas my friend has a heavy thick hoop which stays spinning round the waist 4 a long time without doing much movement with her hips.
I live in london, do u know anywhere 2 get a good hoop!
Thanks, Hooper1970 ... these videos were a birthday present from my sister to me. (I later posted them on YouTube.) I have another birthday coming up -- every year, as a matter of fact -- so perhaps I'll get some more video presents. I'll tell her what you wrote.
I find it easier to keep my hand open, rotation focusing on the area between forefinger and thumb (think making an 'L' with your hand) rather than the "open close, open close."
thank you for posting this video i now can do this really good with your and my sisters help

i'm afraid of doing it with hand. I don't want to hurt myself, but if I want to learn it I got to practice right? So I'll try it.
