I really like LED technology. I have several LED light bulbs in my house and I like them. I think that LEDs will be everywhere in the next 5-10 years.
I wonder when such light bulbs will be available in Pakistan where we are experiencing an extended version of Earth Hour that occurs 8-10 times in big cities and 16-20 times in relatively smaller cities and villages.
100,000 hours in LED terminology means until the LED finally goes dark. In Laymans terms, that means the LED will be bright for about 60,000 hours, then get dimmer and dimmer as it approaches 100,000 hours, then finally burns out.
Well not true. LEDs never really burn out. 100,000 hours means that at the end of 100,000 hours the LED if you run it properly should only lose 30% of its light output. This is for Red, Yellow orange, Green and Blue LEDs. White LEDs will last 50,000 hours if run properly. LEDtronics designs it's LED bulbs properly so they will last.
@kakureru Why yes we have tested our LED bulbs. We have been making LED bulbs since 1983, over 27 years. We have some bulbs that are in our demo room that are still on and its been over 200,000 hours.
@kakureru Yes, LEdtronics has been manufacturing LED bulbs for over 27 years and we have many LED bulbs in our show room that have been on for over 100,000 hours. We also have many customers who been using our LED bulbs for over 20 years.
I think this is awesome, but do they throw as much light as regular bulbs or even those new energy saver bulbs?
Either way they are pretty damn cool. I can find a ton of uses for these in my film projects, in my studio, or in regular everyday use. I'm sure my friends can find uses for them as well. This is a goldmine for college or 20yr olds apartments.
Indeed. They spread the light better when there's is a difusion filter over it, like the so called "iced" ones. And for filming they are just perfect because you can mix the lighcolor the way you need it if you have a lot of different colors. There are some DIY solutions on the internet showing Videolights made of LEDs.
now, there are led bulbs, that give exact the same amount of light as a 40 watt bulb (and same color light) but just uses 1.3 watt AND lasts longer if you use it well
I wonder do they make them where they put out more than a 100 watt incandesent light bulb? I have uses for a bulb that bright. Mostley for flounder gigging at night. Just something that wont drain the battery as fast or strain the inverter.
there are a few different LED flourecents tubes being offered but I do not think the light out put is the same and not very good as a general room light at this point in time.
You seem very close to making LED bulbs with the proper R,G,B intensity that mimics daylight even better than incandescents, but you aren't pushing a "daylight" model. Is there a technical challenge, or other reason the "Daylight LED lamp" isn't widespread?
No, LED bulbs do not give off any electrical shock for bugs. LED bulbs are energy saving long life light bulbs. Since LEDs do not put out UV light this will help cut down on the number of mosquitos who are attracted to UV in standard light bulbs.
oh, I dont no nothing bout it never heared of a LED lite befour. I do know that the mosquito is attracted to people by their carbon dioxide output through their resperation and also emitted through the epidermis. UV lights don't attract them, Niether do those "bug" lights. Those only attract moths, and the like. Killing beneficial incects. I'm sure those 'light emiting dioeds' don't hurt the bugs...Yall...
Id recommend fixtures that take standard incandescent lamps. I use a wall globe fixture in my downstairs bathroom with a 34 watt incandescent lamp and have no illumination problems.
Keep in mind that LED bulbs have a low CRI (Color Rendition Index) rating and temperature (CCD) fluctuation at different angles. They're not a very realistic alternative to CFL/incandescent bulbs yet.
Lets all buy these lights to help fight global warming! In Chicago ,this winter has started off very warm, now it has been extrememly cold out. It just seems to me that the weather now is very unstable. 50% of all the US enegy comes from dirty coal fired plants.
looks good!

Are those 230 volt lamps? Or do u need a transformator ?

We can make 230 volts in Euro base E27mm but we would require an order of 100 bulb of one type to cover our design cost.

Have any models been made to replace the halogen ring bulbs (I call them bayonet bulbs) often used for up / downlighting in homes these days.
They are incredibly inefficient; I have 120 Watts worth in my bedroom and the place is barely lit!

Why not be housed in plastic? Acrylic plastics discolor over time; long before 11 years.

We use UV protected plastic, good for 5 years if outdoors and not in a protective light fixture.
