Do you get wired internet connection can you buy it extra. And what do they give you at the cafeteria do u have any choice or is it scrabble eggs n bagel for breakeast every day.
@NBertuzzi I stayed at this camp for over a year...one of the better ones. Each room has internet access, breakfast is pretty much the same every morning but supper is different every day. Tuesday is Stake night!
PTI Athabasca is always good the people are great security hassles you til they get to know you overall a very decent place that tries, god sake u have a rink in the wintertime!!
i have worked 3 summers and fall all around fort mac horizon project foster creek mckay river petrocan and the last camp or lodge was this place in fall of 2008 where i stayed i liked the bathroom arrangement you could walk right out of the shower straight into your room
they don't tell you about the mould under the trailers...or the fact that the bunkhouse you stay in is over 20 years old, and is also banned from using for resident accomadations, but is good for PTI employees.....
The staff live amongst the clients on the craft side. We have 6 different rooms types. We do not consider ourselves a camp. We are more a lodge. 2800 rooms at the moment. Staff use the same dining rooms, rec halls/lounge as the clients.
that is good to hear about the "lodge" part of it. i was staying at balacksands on my last stint and it was quite decent. how would you compare it with that camp? We had private hotel type bedrooms with your own bathroom a double bed with a good duvet , 35 inch flat screen tv etc. i have heard this one isn't quite as nice but hopefully still livable. I was told i will have a private bathroom which was my main concern.
Cool video, I've been in camps for the last 4 years and the people working as cooks and everyone else working for the camps don't get paid enough compared to others!
hi , my husband is interessed in going to work in fort mcmaurray , please what could you advise him like a task than working for a camp like a cook. thank you
i know someone works there or maybe was.....thought was a nice guy or perhaps rather had cold feet....his voice is kinda late anchorman Peter Jennings...
camps look great there, nice rooms, private bathroom, friendly cooks, i stay'd once for 69 days paid in a hotel room in chetwynd BC and i was prayin' to go back to camp. Cause food was there for ya. but workin' 100 days with about 10 days off for 17 bucks really didn't make much sense either. Fort mac here i come
Hi Folky224! :) I live over the mountain, a bit past Pleasant Bay, and you know there's not much work at home. I have 3 kids still at home to support. Tired of scraping by...do you recommend going out west? The only way I could go is if I got a camp job...did you join the union first?
SO these are the mining camps in the states eh? Whats the pay rate like for the miners, and for all other general staff? (im intersted in going to canada to work in the mines, instead of australia, but its pending the amount of money avilable...)

@sparwood8 There is no indoor basketball court, it's out side and in the winter it's used for hockey. New this year is a driving range.
