I listen to this song for the first time. The recording quality is excellent. Patti captivates her audience whatever she sings; she deserves the name of the Queen of Waltzes.
This was the second Joni James song in a row Patti Page covered, the first being "You Belong to Me." She had also covered Les Paul and Mary Ford's "Mockingbird Hill" and would cover Joan Weber's "Let Me Go Lover" and she had hits with them all. She also covered the Chordettes' "Born to Be With You" but it went unreleased until included in a budget Mercury Wing album. Patti has always paid tribute to the Joni original but also is proud of her beautiful version.
...Intoxicating... Miss Patti embues grace, beauty and elegance on a standard that most singers since can only hope to emulate - And as modern day singers can only fantasize...
what a shame only two comments so far to this gentle and wonderful song! I happened to be a fan of Patti Page after I got hold on a 78rpm record back in the nineties.
konidolfine thank you so much for posting this great song! Keep up the good work.

You know, I have noticed that there is a section of this song that sounds like the love theme on the the old tv star trek in the 60's.
IE when she sings, here is a heart that is lonely.
Sounds just like "ruth" on shoreleave episode... and others.

I'd love to play this song on the radio of a 1952 Mercury--while driving around on a rainy night!

One of Patti Page's best recordings. It shows her ability to personify a ballad... and with that soft, gentle Oklahoma accent.
