Great school. It used to be top 10 about 10-15 years ago, then bounced down and now climbing up.

in 2007 it was 12th in addition ubc has the 13th in social sciences which is better than mcgill.

From what I hear UBC is an excellent school. I have a few friends who went there & loved it. But if you're going to use social science to base how good a university is then I would not put to much stock in that. For the most part, studying social science at the undergrad level is the same - lecture, midterm, final , a paper & a lot of reading. Perhaps a presentation or two. McGill's solid rep is due to their excellence in the sciences. If UBC ranks higher reguardless then good for them.

@habsmaniacnation I wouldn't say that 18th is "not bad at all". I'd say it's pretty good, especially considering that most schools ranked better than 18 will cost you astronomical amounts of money leaving you with debt for basically the rest of your life. I'd say that 18th is pretty damn good, overall, and is exceptionally good for a public school.
