Beautiful tank! Beautiful fish! Not too over crowded for mbunas. Very clean tank and very clear video.I think this has to be the best Malawi Mbuna Video. I have seen yet. Thanks for posting it. Wish I could turn it into a screen saver. Wouldnt that be cool?
@mattyouk. No trouble so far with duging them out. But right now they don't want to grow so much, I believe because I should add some more substrate (sand)...
Yes it is a fresh water tank. The cichlids are from the lake malawi. What you see in this video are so called Mbunas. They feed on algae (herbivor). Good quality food is very important for those kind of cichlids. Also it's very important to not overfeed this fishes otherwise they are getting very fast fat. You can avoid a lot of diseases with the right food and the right amount of food.
when the video was taken, the tank was approx 1 year old. I have a ancistrus catfish in there.I know he is not belonging to a malawi tank but when I "terminate" my south american tank, nobody wants to have my old catfish (now 14 years old) I put him in to my malawi tank, and he eats the complete algae.I'm also making every week minimum 50%fresh water change and do not over feed the malawis so the nutritional value will be keept very less. But maybe I'm just lucky to not have so much algae...
Great quality video, lightings good, aquascaping in tank looks fantastic also. I've just got a family of 5 Chewere's, only about 2" long and it's great to see what they can look like. what's the size of yours? and what sort of lighting are U using? thanks for your posting. FM

I know, check my tank. I really love malawi cichlids. I was trying to ask you if you're tank was new. Because there is almost no algae in it.
Beautifull tank btw!

Hi,
the chewere is about 4" long, he is now approx 4 years old.
The light I'm using is a (38W) Sylvania Aquastar. The tank is 1,6meters or 30,4" wide. This is really enough and you can save a lot energy costs...
