  • pretty shit slight of hand, they should screen their guests more carefully in order to have someone on who actually knows what they're doing.

  • i can see him put the ball in the cup! wtf? isnt this guy meant to be a pro? or is it the camera's fault cos its like zoomed in?

  • at 2:51 he puts the glass under the hat! :)

  • why didnt they edit it out? this is stupid and very disrespectful. what a great routine that is.

  • LOOK 1:09 there's you see the orange !!

  • if u look close enough, i can see the magician sneak the tip of his wand in his sleeve

  • Comment removed

  • @tomer0616 I can assure you that isn't the method. But thats the down fall in magic for some, when someone thinks they know how its executed than that is the definitive technique.

  • ok, this guy is very skilled at slight of hand.. I don't care if the camera angle busted the orange part... nonetheless, he is very skilled.

  • 1:08 ORANGE ?

  • @bsdm333 wow fantastic....thats how he got it...nice spotting.

  • worst hand, camera catching orange at 1:10

  • @sahtekisi Not his fault, it was a very strange camera angle above him

  • q pendejo c ve cuando pasa la naranja bajo el vaso daaaaaa asshole

  • people who get mad for me sharing the tricks are nothing but sissy cry babies.

  • I like this close up magic because it takes practice and you can slow down and see every single move and misdirection. Sleight of hand is the key.

  • @DustinAndNatasha yeah, fuck you too. pay some respect and just enjoy the magic instead of fucking spoiling it for everyone.

  • @aCloudOfHaze excuse me cry baby? wah wah wah, If you must know, that was truly a cry baby thing to say, sissy

  • @DustinAndNatasha dimwit, go wank somewhere else

  • @RXillusionist wank??? wow good one idiot

  • 2:02 switch! 1:23 switch!

  • 0:54 another switch!

  • 0:45 watch as he wraps the rubber band around the glass. You see the switch???

  • i saw him put the orange and the coconut under it

  • 1:09 -1:10

  • amaZing

  • Ball in a cup! But don't worry if it doesnt go in the cup, theres a string attached to the ball!

  • @footballguy146 you my friend... are a god for making that reference here.

  • Camera angles can expose the slights and do detract from the magic. CBS erred in this regard.

  • he kinda messed up cuz it was in his hand the whole time if u watch

  • i saw the orange when he put it in the glass

  • He's probably a great magician. However, with the internet, and Youtube rewinding, I was able to figure out all of the tricks. Now, if there were no cuts in the video, the last couple tricks would be a little more believable.

The orange one, however, was super obvious; damn camera angle >.<

  • haha trick wand!!! he pushed it in :D

  • Awesome routine! LOVE this! It's a great example of how unpredictable live television can be with angles and all that. It's also a great example of an awesome close-up magician dealing with a less than ideal situation for performing a routine like this. Sure we all see the orange. The camera is unforgiving that way and he got caught. Probably didn't know there was a camera above him. Still...could any of the naysayers have done better in this environment? Solid performance and enjoyable.

  • Guys to tell you even though we saw some slights like the orange secretly put inside the glass and so on, he didn't say that he is a REAL magician and often we hear them talking things like "misdirections", cheats, lie and so on. So that means that its is just performing the art of magic (the thing that uses illusions and alot of dirty works) to entertain only. Hope you got it!

  • He is good, I caught only one trick. He's got a fixed wand with a sliding white end. Quite clever.

  • look at 1:8 u can clearly see the orange.. this is a great magician but i saw the orange

  • 1:10 you can see him put the orange in the cup

  • At 4:30 he sneaks the coconut in the hat.

  • He pulled out the Orange at 1:09 Pushed in the wand the first time at 2:00 and then pushed it in the second time at 2:27

  • @ovifan8 Ok cool, good for you, you found out how it works. But let me remind you, there IS NO such thing as REAL magic, it has to be faked somehow, and this isn't judged on where YOU can see the sneak, it's about the live audience. Surely you probably watched through and didn't notice how he did anything, which is how a live audience would be, but you felt the need to skim back and find where he made his moves. So congratulation.

  • I SAW THE ORANGE!!! He was still doing the ball tricks, and I say a glimpse of orange from his pocket to the cup, but didn't know what it was, so I thought it was nothing.

  • ...I'm confused. watch from 2:00 on, til the white nub at the end of his wand disappears. it looks like he might've been unscrewing it then, but I have no idea how the hell he managed

    guy is talented

  • Great set John, I finally got to catch up with it. Awesome.

  • you can see him slip the orange into the cup, around 1:08, but at 2:10 he lifts the cup up and the orange ain't there. then at 2:49 it appears again. whattt :S eh, magic tricks confuse the hell out of me.

  • @unforgivablesinnerr when he squeezes the "glass" tight the orange stays it in... and the first bit of his wand taken off is taken off my his inside of his elbow, then he pushes the white piece of his wand through the other side, which is smartly made wand...

WATCH THE PRESTIGE! Best movie ever... and yes I think it is better then the illusionist

  • and CBS chops up the video so we can't see its flaws!

  • Look how he slips the orange into the cup at 1:09

  • @omarofuae

is not his mistake, he did perfectly, is just a camera mistake..a better edit should be more respectful for him.

  • @saimon20000000000 And I agree with that, its simply a trick, not real magic :)

  • @omarofuae You sure? *sigh*

  • The coconut is now diamonds.

  • 1:08 you can see him put the orange in the cup xD otherwise nice tricks

  • Watch closely at 2:50... he puts the glass under the hat and notice the grip on the hat from then on.

  • Orange at 1:10 ish

  • @jjisaac0618 well that's just a bad camera angle right there. If you'd been looking from a normal audience perspective it would've been fine.

  • if u pause it at 4:31 u can see the coconut :P

  • Don't make Carney nothing. This guy is probably the greatest close up magician alive, amazing with cards aswell. See him live indeed..

  • @MastahMich Dan and Dave Buck are best

  • @MastahMich he's a fan of malini isint he?, he reminds me of him

  • Comment removed

  • you can see how he does the first trick, when he is wrapping the newspaper he is holding another ball, great trick, i was amazed, but i went back a few times and figured it out

  • See him live tetrulz and you will change your mind. He is off the wall as Mr Mysto but this is one great magician. Also went to a lecture as well at the NZ International Magic Convention. Never base as argument on what you see on TV or video-live is the best way...

  • bad camera angle , well performed .

  • haha poor guy. he totally fucked it up.

  • 1:10 haha he fucked that one up

  • Comment removed

  • @aceoffire890

no he didn't "fuck up" anything. the camera was at a bad angle.

  • yeah, well to letterman it looked muchhhh better, the camera angles sucked, I caught a lot of these tricks when this aired. However, this was definitely the most entertaining magician on letterman in my opinion.

  • from a magician's opinion, these angles were not thoroughly thought out.

  • also in 2:50 he is putting the glass in to his hat

  • 1:10 the orange, in 2:01 he is pushing the stick in his sleeve,in 2:28 he is pushing one side of his stick and in.........I think HD youtube is destroying magic

  • He put the orange in at 1:10 =.= cheap... cheap

  • @ozitzelav77 and what do you think how did he do it....he is not The Merlin with magical powers...

  • @ozitzelav77 Cheap? I'd like to see you do it another way.

  • This was a really, REALLY nice act! Full of the unexpected, of self-deprecating humor, and of the seemingly impossible. Wonderful! Nice the way he picks up the already loaded glass at 2:12, not to mention the glass transposition.

Of course the flash is obvious, but that's due to the unnatural camera angle, and he damned near pulled it off anyway.

The ONLY criticism I, a rank amateur, would have is that the coconut is the very obviously fake coconut, with the line around the circumference.

  • It's called a flash, when we saw the orange. And its one of the downsides of doing closeup magic in front of cameras all around you and a theater full of spectators. If this was a 1 on 1 trick, or a small group, the flash wouldn't have existed.

  • @shadowoc91 i meant the name of the trick but its good to know anyway

  • @totalcoma523 was referring to Omegachron.

  • does anyone knows whats the name of this effect?

  • @totalcoma523 well there are a lot of little touches and bits of business but the over all routine is bob read's "tumbler transpo"

  • you can see the orange at 1: 09

  • @TheOmegachron wow good call, it's right there but i had to go back twice to find it haha. Good catch! This dude has some quick hands

  • you can see the orange at 1: 09

  • You can see him put the orange in the glass at 1:10

  • @thisislesh Dude, shut up, there's muggles here who might not notice that otherwise.

  • Instead of enjoying the performance and commenting on the skill, you've opted instead to be a jerk. Great detective work, genius.

  • I don't care how much you egotistical people say you "know how it is done," Carney was great and if you hadn't watched the video more than once, you wouldn't have seen anything!!

  • @CABOSTI yup!!!!

  • Yeah, no duhhh. . . it ain't magic. . just dexterity and performance skills.

  • @colininla there's nothing called magic...

  • @colininla What do you expect, that someone who does magic actually has supernatural powers??? ROTFL

  • @colininla No, Brainiac. . I was commenting on those who only post to point out how it's accomplished, rather than just how well it was done.

  • This is a great combination of lots of classic tricks. I do know how they are done, but they were performed very well. I might use this myself

  • The real art is alive and well. Pure magic at its finest. To see this live is to be totally mystified! Thanks, John

  • nothing is better than a good performance ....

  • Carney is awesome

  • 2:49 looks like a key moment.

  • @stereokid Why?

  • Comment removed

  • i knew how to do all of his tricks!!! u can see him slip the orange into the glass!

  • Comment removed

  • @brainteaser999

wow really? i think everyone saw that because of the bad camera view. and i really doubt that you can do this effect.

  • @soysaucex23 no but i know what he does but i did not understand how to get the coconut into that hat and the glass in the hat

  • Good tricks. Wish we could see the unedided version, but I doubt it would be any different. :)
