It's interesting to see this as part of language learning. I used it when I taught English to a group of Spanish-speaking students. I only had the song itself, but my students loved it. 1st offf, Elton didn't write the lyrics. His writing partner Bernie T wrote them. The influence for the song is a KGB agent named Natasha Ivanova. She was his tour manager when he performed in the Soviet Union in 1979. You can see her in his DVD, "From Russia, With Elton".

GEORGE MICHAEL does the backing vocals! They used a synth to disguise him a little through most of the song, but at the end you can hear George let it rip (which was my favorite part of the song, now I know why!).

Elton is wonderful, and made a gorgeous tune with Bernie Taupin, and having George do the backing vocals was a brilliant move.

I watched part of this being recorded ,Video was made on wasteland which is now a Sainsburys car park in Ladbroke Grove,West London,England,fake snow on ground as was the middle of summer at the time (july/aug),the big building still stands,think its called Canalside,and the painted rendered walls behind the brick wall (on his right when sitting in car) also still stands as its part of a housing estate,the rest are props,including the graffitied concrete walls
