This is a real video, but it's obviously a well prepared stunt. There is no flames in the aircraft that would justify him jumping like that, and there is clearly a line running from him to the Ultralight as he jumps out...a trigger for the explosion.

there's a guy that lives down the street that owns 2 ultralights and a bi-plane (how he got it idk) and his green ultra-light was above the soccerfeilds and he lost control , and right after he jumped out it exploded , it was awsome

The centre of gravity is somewhere on the surface of the wing when he is aboard, when he jumps out it shifts aft of the wing and the nose pitches up. Even with the stick full forward it would still happen.

Shrapnel wouldn't just be falling, it would be propelled by the explosion meaning it'd be going a whole lot quicker than its terminal velocity. It's called ballistics, don't believe me? This was done for the filming of a Mountain Dew commercial. The jumper then releases his main canopy after it fully deploys (called a cutaway) and then deploys his reserve. Awesome stunt!

no clue why they complain. That ultralight is made from aluminum tubing and dacron, with a rotax engine. Both easily replaced. If they had blown up a P51 or something I could see calling it a waste, but this was cool.

Who set it off? Did the guy jumping out of it set the explosion off? That was some close timing. It would have been cool if there was a second camera man taping the parachouter, then editing the footage together. Or having a helmet cam on the parachouter, have him jump out backwards looking at the ultralight, and taping it that way. From his point of view. There's always the sequel ;)
