However, he also wrestled as the real life Bret Hart. He was a technically gifted and talented athlete. Therefore as a man he was a champion people could believe in and brought prestige and respect to pro wrestling, yet he was also a superstar. Few WWF champions can be looked back upon like that. He took wrestling seriously!

Man remember that Iron Man match between Bret and Shawn Michaels. I remember growing up my brother was the Bret Hart fan and I was the Michaels fan because of our personalities. Sadly that was about the time wrestling died to us. It became much more of a soap opera now. You're especially right, Londrick about Bret not returning to the ring. It's better for a wrestling great to call it quits rather than make a brief appearance (or even making a comeback match and thinking afterwards, "God, was that my best out there? I feel like I needed to give more!"-kind of attitude). Bret ended it with class IMO. These guys laid down the foundation for the whole Attitude thing, and even though Bret spent the last part of his WWF career as a heel (although he was turning with the advent of D-X), he will always be a true hero, and embodies everything that entails.
