  • what year?

  • ROTFL

  • How old is this? i don't even remember Steve with color in his hair.

  • According to Steve's book Born Standing Up, this is from the period when he was "finding his way" as a comedian and hadn't had his artistic breakthrough yet.

  • Looks like Dennis Quaid.

  • lol long time ago when stand up comedians used to talk about something else but sex, drugs and racial steriotypes.... lovely

  • I just read Born Standing Up and enjoyed it immensely. In deference to his dad, I thinks he is a genius like Chaplin. Chaplin made walking down the street with a flag funny (modern times) and Steve Martin made running from the giant Nerf parade float in our homecoming parade bearable. Thanks you, Mr Steve Martin

  • The jerk was better... What's happin to my special purpose..!!!! Ha ha ha..

  • fuck this - if you wanna actually laugh go listen to louis ck

  • @queekers yeah, cuz it ain't comedy unless you're cursing your mouth off talking about masturbating and gay sex.

  • @a12d4r if you want a comedian that does clean material listen to Brian Regan (srs)

  • @queekers The trouble is finding a GOOD comedian who does clean material. Brian Regan is not among them.

  • @Yobgal fine whatever - go fuck a bleedy AIDS infested tranny dick you faggot cunt nigger whore.

  • @queekers Oh, sorry. If I had realized you're in junior high, I wouldn't have offered a contrasting opinion from the perspective of somebody who's studied comedy extensively. I guess I'll just go fuck that "bleedy AIDS infested tranny dick" while you get back to your homework.

  • @Yobgal my motgher and father didnt agree-they thought and said steve martin was dirty

  • OTFRWDL- On The Floor Rolling With Doggy Laughter.

  • Noooooo NOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Noooooo

  • Those dogs were adorable!!

  • @billtheman100 like your mom?

  • does anyone know of the clip where he plays the dog whistle?

  • You forgot the part when he said "It's raining dogs and cats outside! How do i know? I stepped in a poodle!" That was HILARIUS! Steve Martin FTW! :D

  • blimey what a bad film quality

  • thats the scruffy little white dog i always wanted!

  • He ain't dead yet...

  • what the hell are u talking about

  • His stand up is weird kind of similar to andy kaufman.

  • @tonymontana1974 Um, no.

  • it's hard to hear what he's saying

  • yea, his stand up sucks. That's why he's considered one of the most successful standups of all time- still holding records for tickets sold, sold out venues, and highest revenue for any standup EVER. all these record breaking events while only doing standup for a max of 5 years.

  • @kbucher1977 are you completely insane??

  • If you're a human being you won't get the joke.

  • legend !!!!11

  • steve is a genius!

  • He is so sharp. What wit!

  • I do beleive there are some people in this world that can make anything funny - and this proves it. Martin took something that was absolutely not funny, and made it very charming. Good act!

  • wow, thanks!

Reading the book right now. Was hoping to find some of the clips he talks about.

  • omg...from Carson right?...and

before his hair was all white...

    a good clip...he's just a wild & crazy guy!

and the dogs seem to love it...

  • "doggie laughter"!!

  • wow, he's so young.....and cute ;)

  • tough crowd

  • One of the greatest comedians ever! Too bad the video is poor quality, can the post-er buff it up?

  • What is so funny about this is that the "joke " is so stupid but the dog jumps around. The dogs reactions could be different every time. Setting up the next joke. Dogs are so loveable.

  • It's good to see this after reading the story in "Born Standing Up". Personally I thought the bit was pretty funny. Johnny Carson could be a real jerk sometimes.

  • He believes in the family, like Uncle Todd, who waves his penis.

  • this guy is a hero

  • Are all the posters on youtube under the age of 14?

  • i believe he looks like steve martin..when younger.....yes people there was a time when he had dark hair...he was younger...then he grew older and aged...thus producing white hair....duh

  • i agree with the harrison ford- ive told people i thought that! steve you rock!hes great now , and then! one of my very faves!tee-hee!

  • he looks like dennis quaid!

  • due he looks so different without white hair!!!!!

  • yep, right, he looked like H. Ford when he was young)

  • He kinda looks like Harrison Ford here.

  • wow no white hair....amazing :p

  • wow, when he didn't have white hair

  • thanks for uploading the video!

  • Check out the young actor, Paul Schneider. He looks just like a young Steve Martin-hair and all.

  • hahah he does look like young Steve Martin. Thank you

  • This is amazing.Watched it about 10 times.

  • harrison ford??

  • it is now 1:22

  • i dont get it

  • LOL

    he's genius.

  • @dude15697 cheaper by the dozen totally proves u wrong, but steve martin is a legend

  • we missed the part where the last one cocks his leg on Steve - kind of the point of the skit

  • He's so naturally funny

  • Steve mentions this in his new autobiography as one of the turning points in his career.

  • Just finished the book toaday, after starting today, good book.

  • same here started, finished it same day. love the book

  • its going to take me a week becuz i cant not read so good no more. but i try reel hard. steve got with a lot of hotties it sounds like.

  • haha so did I

    what a coincidence

  • i bought the book on a layover in san Francisco and i read the whole thing on the plane....gives every performance of his a little bit more depth i think.

  • Get the audio book read by Steve. Born Standing Up. Very good and really personalizes it.

  • Good point!

  • It was always an event for me when Steve Martin was on Johnny of Letterman. His standup still kills me.

  • Hell yeah that shit was funny !!! I heard Artie Lang talking about this on the howard stern show .!!!!!!!!!

  • I searched this for the same reason

  • He's my favorite honkey!

  • ..."honkey"? nice choice of words.

  • It's a reference to "King Tut" - look it up, it was a hit record Steve Martin did once.

  • This is true, I remember all his records. :)

  • He's my favorite tonkey!

  • Great.

Do any Steve Martin fans know where to find the old

"arrow thru the head" schtic. The best.

Made me a Martin fan forever. Great stand up innovator.

Anyone know the "Arrow Head" video, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  • that is hysterical!!
