The heavy laser might be a bit impractical, but once my dedicated sniper finds a good lookout, it's game over for the aliens. Lethal damage for anyone entering his field of view, with great accuracy.
@EmperorLjas It's not bad until you have a Plasma Rifle. Then for 5 less power (and different element type) you'll get the ability to make an aimed shot using 60% of your TUs (instead of 75%) for a shot that is 100% of your firing accuracy (instead of 84%).
@Jeneral28 Because I hate tanks. Especially the cheap Tank Chassis.
One good shot (especially with explosives as they do quadruple damage), and there's a hunk of smoking scrap metal. I'd rather have four full TU bars that cost far less to hire than some giant target that always seems to magically break the second it rolls out of the Skyranger.
@LordFinisher thats why you use the rocket tank... brecause that tank is made to move out, explode stuff, then move back in. its more of a starter, cause if theres barns around you, it will blow huge chunks into it. then next turn you move it into cover (or into skyranger if your troops that you want out are out already) other then that, tanks arnt that good. BUT! you can use cannon tank to easily take out cyberdisks if you get better amo for it.
Finally a LP on X-com that actually employs grenades and explosives....marvelous job on the LP..Great commentary makes the game so grand...keep it up.
Thats cool I haven't seen K9's stuff yet But I've seen Kiko's and Necros and now Lord finisher of this game and they are great...I recently got this game from steam and I use rocket tanks (2) myself and 6 troops they all have hi-explosives..and it works out just fine and when a tank is lost it cost no points against you. ^_^
Die when they first walk out... oh yea hence why i buy Tanks... also thank you for pointing out how good HE is in this i always get great throwers and REALLY crap shots. Also Grats on NOTlosing anyone.. usually get 2 fragged walking into the ufo.

Actually k9wazere uses bombs (and tanks too) but he hasn't made an LP for Xcom in a while.

Sorry, but not a fan of tanks. They usually die with one shot whenever I'm involved. Maybe I'll try when/if get Hovertanks.
