It is possible to get the item next to the switch without the double jump. If you get a Medusa Head at the right spot, you can get knocked up onto the ledge. Happened to me my first time through, completely by accident.

I may have only played the trial version of SotN on XBLA, but I really recommend using the Bible subweapon in that Doppleganger fight. That way, it takes damage when it gets too close to you.

I've gotten that HP Max Up without the Double Jump. And I've also gotten the item near the switch without it, too. Anyways, your playthroughs are frickin' awesome.

1:30- It is possible to get this HP Max up before you get the double jump.

yes, I agree... you just have to start walking off the ledge, and time the jump so you jump as you're about to fall... it'll hop you over and you can get the items.

Actually, you don't even need to hit the Elevator Switch. You can just walk into it and it will work.

actually u CAN make the jump normal form, its just gotta take good timing, i did it on my first try, and never could do it again, lol. same with the jump near the elevator switch, gotta time it right.
